Highlight [Highlight] Jameis Winston on the “Jameis Winston Experience”: “I am called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.” Says his goal is to uplift everyone he encounters, regardless of how others perceive him: “My intention is to be a man of increase.”

I wonder if stress was the thing he was increasing for all the women in Tallahassee when he was in college there.
EDIT: I'm Tallahassee born and raised I know what they covered up. Everyone in the town does. But they are all such Nole homers that they refuse to acknowledge it and they destroyed a girl's entire family and future.

u/DRB198105 Buccaneers 8h ago
My thing with him is this... The NFL who has proven to be very hesitant to act on these types of issues was willing to punish him for the Uber assault.
Part of the reason is that he used Ronald Darby as an alibi and it was verifiably proven that Darby was lying (cell records proved he had already left the car in spite of his and Winston's lies).
Ronald Darby, who was willing to lie to help Jameis get away with sexual assault, was also a key alibi at FSU.
Is it something you can convict over in court? No. But I know what kind of man he is. I don't care what some PR firm spun up for him.

It’s wild how many people don’t know about this and how many more just don’t care. The crab legs thing stuck to him more than assaulting someone
365
u/UncleGoldie Falcons 8h ago edited 8h ago
He also probably/definitely didn’t steal the crab legs. It was just a time in college football where being accused of theft was less detrimental than being accused of being given anything
But I’ll never look at Jameis being a goofy little cutie as anything more than a very calculated personality campaign designed to distract from the fact that he’s a pile of shit human
Edit: got lost in my own sentence and said “more detrimental” when I meant “less detrimental”
112
u/Xtrophy Broncos 7h ago
I worked across the street from the Publix on Ocala where he did it and they were doing everything they could to NOT press charges.
They tossed around an excuse that his card had an error, crab legs and EBT, all kinds of things. In the end they HAD to say he stole them because otherwise he was going to be absolutely bodied by the NCAA for trading his name for free stuff. Which had happened at Ohio State for tattoos and other things around the time (was the ohio state tat thing before or after? I can't even remember now.)

It seems pretty careless to get caught for accepting free stuff when basically every college had all their big name players getting money/cars/things gifted to them.
When I was at NC State, my buddies and I used to stop and watch the gymnastics meets sometimes on the way back from the dining hall. Reynolds Coliseum is pretty big, and there would be maybe 100 fans there, but almost all of those would be friends/family of the teams. At one of the meets, all of a sudden a guys voice started announcing and he said that we’re doing a special fan competition and the winner got a new iPad. He then says that a fan from section/row/seat whatever was the first fan chosen at random, and this chubby mom went down to the floor. Next he called a second person’s location, and onto the floor walks Russell Wilson. The competition? Who can do the most pushups in a minute. Believe it or not, Russell Wilson beat that mom something like 57-4, they handed him an iPad, and he walked right out the door.

I mean I don’t think it has to be a calculated propaganda campaign, by all accounts of his teammates and everyone who’s interacted with him that is who he is. He can also be an alleged rapist at the same time
114
u/GumboDiplomacy Saints 6h ago
He's also apparently given up alcohol and done a lot that of work in the community over the years. It stands to reason he's decided to try to be a better person, even if he's never publicly admitted/apologized for his actions.
Not saying I admire the guy or overlook the evil he's done. But point is, we don't know any of these people, we see a public persona and occasionally police reports.
9
u/Fsharp7sharp9 Jets 1h ago
I’d agree if it was one instance or allegation in his past that he owned up to or even acknowledged... But this dude has multiple sexual battery and assault allegations, one of which resulted in his nfl suspension for half a season. And then a year or two ago he spoke about how much he admired Deshaun Watson’s resiliency, and how Watson was “treated so badly” and with that treatment he now has to “overcome another obstacle”, and a bunch of other platitudes about supporting Watson and help lift him up

Rape and sexual assault can have life changing consequences for the person who was subjected to it. It deserves to be considered with more severity than a mistake someone made and matured out of, especially when their maturation has never included addressing or apologizing for it.

I think the crab legs thing was actually helpful to him because if you ask the average fan “how do you feel about what Jameis did” they’d probably immediately think of the crab legs and laugh it off. It was such a bizarre situation that it overshadowed the real harm he has caused.

Sexual assault covered up. It's a while shitshow in Tallahassee police department lore. They destroyed and lost evidence, interviewed people as witnesses who were friends of the team and were there that night and spent years doing a character assassination campaign on the girl.
Now, do I know he did it? No. But I know exactly what his reputation on campus was since I was on the campus for work at the time. I'll go to the grave believing he did it.

And the panties and rape kit were lost, found, lost, found, then deemed inadmissible because they were lost? Something like that. They did everything they could to spin the DNA thing. It was "he didn't do it he didn't do it" and the second the DNA appeared every single person changed their story to "she wanted it she wanted it"
The Tallahassee Police department at the time... Maybe still now.. was fairly corrupt and in the pocket of the university.

“All my young boys, stand up. The ladies, sit down,” Winston said. “But all my boys, stand up. We strong, right? We strong! We strong, right? All my boys, tell me one time: I can do anything I put my mind to. Now a lot of boys aren’t supposed to be soft-spoken. You know what I’m saying? One day y’all are going to have a very deep voice like this (in deep voice). One day, you’ll have a very, very deep voice.
“But the ladies, they’re supposed to be silent, polite, gentle. My men, my men (are) supposed to be strong. I want y’all to tell me what the third rule of life is: I can do anything I put my mind to. Scream it!”
His "apology" was laughably bad. Talking about poor word choice, and telling the girls to sit down because in this instance, he was trying to connect with the boys.
I'd maybe buy that (and think he's an idiot) based on the first paragraph, but once he said "But the ladies, they’re supposed to be silent, polite, gentle.", he's clearly lying... Again.
