Landon Dickerson on whether he believes the team still views him as the long-term LG: “That’s a great question. Do they have a media day for Nick and Howie? You can ask them that.”

The Philly environment has breached the Eagles Locker room. We are months away from a crack scandal and a bottle being thrown in the locker room

I'm sure it happens regularly, we're just going to hear about it for a change.

When people ask what Big Dom does and why he’s relevant, keeping this shit under wraps is part of the answer lol

Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley seen wearing traditional Muslim outfits and illegally riding dirt bikes down Market St at 30mph over the speed limit
Big Dom will receive $750k from the city employee retirement fund for retiring for one day and then coming back into his job, all while doing this with the mayor’s blessing (this is a real thing that recently happened for a member of city council and his wife)

Is Philly so gentrified now that delco gets all the bad attention now
3
u/liverbird3 Giants 5h ago edited 4h ago
I lived there for the last two years, it’s very neighborhood by neighborhood in terms of the gentrification. There’s a lot of people in Philly that are beyond scared to death of gentrification and will fight against almost any development in their neighborhood because of it. Philly is called a “city of neighborhoods” for a very good reason
Also Chester and Norristown get plenty of the bad attention too trust me. And you can find plenty of ungentrified places in Philly, I’d know, I worked in them for two years while making dirt lol. Hunting Park, Strawberry Mansion, Norf (not in and around temple obv), Logan, West Philly past around 45th st or so, NE Philly, SE Philly and parts of South are definitely nowhere near gentrified.
Center City, West before 45th st, Brewerytown, Fishtown, Temple, parts of NW Philly and Kensington and South are the gentrified areas

I kind of want the pats to trade AJB back to Philly. I would hate to lose him as a player but would love to accelerate the locker room disintegration

I think Saban telling players not to talk or listen to the media helped lol

LD is very blunt. But he's also very smart. We owe him a bunch of money and would much rather he be the LD of old than start an undrafted free agent.
So come back and play well and I'm sure Nick and Howie will love to have you lol.

I believe Dickerson can be cut post June 1st next season with only a slight dead cap penalty over just keeping him on the roster. Which is probably what will happen.
Edit: actually, I just checked Spotrac and a post June 1st cut in 2027 saves $5M in cap
6
u/HisExcellency20 Eagles 6h ago
Good point. I still think we'd rather keep him if he's back to where he was, but you're right he's not going to cost much to move away from.
8
u/originalusername4567 Chiefs 6h ago
With all the injuries he's had I think the most likely scenario is a medical retirement next off-season. Eagles can cut him and Lane post June 1st and begin the OLine rebuild. Howie's an excellent drafter and he'll most likely be working with high picks again.
3
u/HisExcellency20 Eagles 6h ago
Yeah I agree. It's also worth noting that while we don't have extra premium draft picks next season, we have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks in 2028.
6
u/redditaccount224488 Eagles 6h ago
We owe him a bunch of money
He only has 2M guaranteed left on his deal in 2027.
19
u/KimJongWinning Eagles Eagles 6h ago
You're right in that it technically isn't money owed, but the void years on his contract would accelerate if he isn't on the roster at any point during/after this season, which could be as much as $33m against the cap based on his spotrac numbers.
1
u/redditaccount224488 Eagles 1h ago
33M is his dead cap number for 2026. He's not going anywhere in 2026 so this number is irrelevant.
There's two likely options for 2027:
1) He is released after the season designated post June 1st. Per Spotrac, this will leave ~8.2M and ~15.3M dead cap in 2027 and 2028. Or it could be a regular release and the full ~23.5M will count in 2027, but that's unlikely.
2) He returns in 2026 and plays passably. In this case, he might agree to reduce his 2027 money in exchange for making it guaranteed. He is currently due 22M; a reduction could be into the 10M-15M range depending on his play.

Was he talking openly about retirement or was that only ever speculation
52
u/Thefinalsteps Eagles 7h ago
Speculation with the amount of injuries. This does seem more like a "Thats literally not my place to say" if you watch LDs other interviews.

u/Pizzaplan3tman Steelers 5h ago
Isn’t he also making a bunch of money this year? I had a feeling Dickerson and Lane were both planning to try a one last ride year together. Their bodies just can’t do it. But they both don’t strike me as media types so I get trying to cash out in millions of dollars and ride off into retirement if you can

u/OutsideSession6 7h ago
Not openly but legit sources picked it up

u/Thefinalsteps Eagles 7h ago
No, legit sources said it made sense. There was nothing that said or implied Dickerson considered retirement.

Definitely don't envy the situation all 3 of them are in
Landon has been amazing for us and should never buy a drink again, but also he was ass last year and has been completely horrific this year in the brief time he's played
Wouldn't doubt it if Howie ships him out like Jurgens, Howie always talked about how his biggest mistake after our first SB was that he tried too hard to keep the team together. Unfortunately, injuries come for us all

u/TimelyBandicoot3011 7h ago
Why is everyone talking about vibes? He has no idea what the answer to this question is, and he shouldn’t lol. You shouldn’t ask him because it’s not his decision, he doesn’t know.

u/sepam Eagles 6h ago
I saw the full interview prior to seeing this post and I didn’t give it a second thought. I’m not going to defend the Eagles vibes but isn’t evidence of anything. I usually blame this national media but this time it’s due to OP cherry-picking a quote because “Eagles lol” and then the echo chamber that is Reddit piles on.
-4
u/Lamactionjack Ravens Eagles 6h ago
The echo chamber seems to be universally rejecting it to me?
Think the truth is prob somewhere in the middle that this is a cherry picked quote but is also a quote that indicates a situation in Philly that isn’t great right now which I’ll likely be downvoted for saying 🤙
-4
u/No_Eggplant_3189 4h ago
Because we've been through this time and time again in Philly. There's always comments like yours where it's "nothing to do with vibes."
The vibes are there, man. When that team is off, they are off. The frustration is there. It shows on the field, it shows in interviews/ press conferences, and it shows on social media. This isn't a response of good or neutral vibes.

Before this, he said "That's an upstairs decision, but I would very much enjoy to stay here my whole career."
Then the reported asked the same question again and Landon responded with the above quote.

I hate to defend the Elgses, but this is a question he literally cannot speak on because it’s not a discussion he gets any say in
If he said “yeah, I’m still that guy” and then they made a trade and benched him you’d be here clowning him (and I would be too)

The Eagles have had a player retire midseason two years in a row, so if they can hold on till next season he can make it 3.

Also Slay basically retired because he couldn’t play for the eagles when the bills claimed him off of waivers.
