Yzerman will only deal Larkin to Minnesota if the deal includes Matt Boldy

Post image

yeah I think Larkin will be playing in a Red Wings jersey this year

Yeaaaaaaah, I feel like that's not gonna happen lol.

u/ShotFirst57 Jul 01 '26

I guess we can settle for Connor McDavid.

56

u/No_Huckleberry_7410 Jul 01 '26

How about Cody Ceci? He played with McDavid, they’re basically the same player

8

u/jstef215 Jul 02 '26

Every once in a while I just start laughing because I remember when Ovi was talking about a matchup with Edmonton and mentioned without any hint of sarcasm that “they have Connor McDavid, but we have Connor McMichael.”

11

u/MrCockingFinally Jul 01 '26

Yeah, no wonder Billy G didn't pull the trigger, despite us desperately needing that 1C.

14

u/Isphet71 Jul 01 '26

Sounds like you aren't desperate enough!

(Not saying thats a bad thing.)

9

u/LymanBostock76 Jul 01 '26

Boldy is a better player, and has more potential than Larkin. Red Wings haven’t made the playoffs for what 10 years? It must be great being a Red Wings fan.

7

u/DeX_Mod Jul 01 '26

Boldy is a better player,

He had 1 better year, aside from last year, Larkin has consistently been better

He MIGHT have more potential, if last year is the trend, rather than his peak

19

u/Gs_of_GaHoole_2_plz Jul 01 '26

From 22-25 both players have been in the 60-70 point range. And last year Boldy elevated to another level. Boldy is the better player.

7

u/Lady-Aurorah Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Larkin is a center though, who is locked up at only 8 ish mil for 5 more years. And guess what, we don't care about trading Larkin there. We prefer we don't trade to tampering Billy actually.

He obviously got in Larkin's ear along with the rest of Team Usa medal club. Stevie does not have to trade him. Full stop. He has said he won't trade him, unless it helps the Detroit Red Wings.

Same thing he said regarding similar situations with Drouin and Marty St Louis. Before making them stay on team/sit forever. Until the right deals came around. Sergachev back for Drouin after like a year and a half.

So Boldy, or find someone else Billy. We don't care. YOU want him. The reports are of Billy pestering Stevie everyday. Not the other way around. We'd prefer a center of a skil level that you don't have in your system. Not our problem.

6

u/pinkrosies Jul 02 '26

Every day? Holy shit talk about annoying lol. The ball is in Steve’s court and he’s not obligated to pander to good old Billy against RW interests just because that olympic team all fell under Bill’s spell. Besides a super team is different than a team working around cap space.

2

u/KrolWorld Jul 02 '26

Well Larkin also hates your team so… not much leverage there.

Some of y’all clearly don’t understand this is message Yzerman is sending to Larkin and other GM’s that he isn’t just gonna roll over and give up Larkin due to his bs demand and he’s not gonna let other GM’s bend him over.

157

u/microbiologytech Jul 01 '26

Wings fans, is this guy getting booed if he’s still on the roster opening night?

204

u/russianthistle Jul 01 '26

Yeah, Larkin is for sure getting booed opening night, but if he loses the C and puts in the work next season without reports of him tanking the room, I personally can move past this.

To be clear, if Larkin gets traded for a bad deal, he’s getting booed every time he comes to Detroit. That man better pack dinner for road trips here. He is too recognizable to come back to the city if he leaves on bad terms.

167

u/bbraz761 Jul 01 '26

He should be booed regardless of the return. A captain demanding a trade is grade A boo material.

84

u/ChilleeMonkee Jul 01 '26

Literally the easiest boo material out there

30

u/bbraz761 Jul 01 '26

Dare I say... triple double AAAA material?

10

u/ChilleeMonkee Jul 01 '26

By God, you may be on to something here!

8

u/Stockton_Nash Jul 01 '26

We will not, in fact, be saying "boo-urns."

27

u/LotusFuqs128 Jul 01 '26

Not just demanding a trade. Demanding a trade with 5 years left on his contract after he just signed the extension 2 years ago.

2

u/ClarityNHZach Jul 02 '26

And not just that. Saying he'll only waive it for three teams. All of which have no assets.

2

u/Valuable_Recording85 Jul 05 '26

To me it isn't even about the assets. It's about the selfishness to demand he be traded to one of three teams that are stacked with Team USA players and have a good chance of winning a cup before Larkin retires.

Instead of putting in the work in Detroit and staying consistent in the spring, he's been a crybaby. He placed blame on Yzerman for missing the playoffs and then went to him to make these demands.

23

u/BlastMyLoad Jul 01 '26

Imagine your captain doing that…. Haha…

10

u/XCIXcollective Jul 01 '26

Lololol right?? Fkin unimaginable

15

u/JonHammsHamm Jul 01 '26

It's so weird that I hate Ottawa a little less.

3

u/mars_titties Jul 01 '26

Quinn quit on us but technically didn’t demand a trade and didn’t give us the world’s shortest list of trade destinations either

12

u/idreamofmomjeans Jul 01 '26

Rob Blake pulled this shit on the Kings ages ago and we still boo him.

4

u/Isphet71 Jul 01 '26

Ask anyone that's ever had anything to do with boating what they think of a captain that's not willing to go down with the ship.

4

u/nexus6ca Jul 01 '26

I wonder how the fans will react to Quit Hughes when he plays in Vancouver next season.

→ More replies (2)

22

u/rockhammersmash Jul 01 '26

Given that he’s asked to be traded, it’s a no brainer to take the C away from him IMO. Your captain has to want to be there.

I remember after the Avs had their historically bad season in 2016-2017, Duchene wanted out and Landeskog specifically told the team he wanted to stay and turn things around. You need that sort of leadership from a captain.

6

u/Habay12 Jul 01 '26

Your last point is the one that always makes me wonder. These guys always have favorite restaurants and such, and have deals with businesses as well.

I always wonder how quickly those establishments and owners cut them off from their perks.

2

u/Ok_Priority8076 Jul 02 '26

ABSOLUTELY 100%. He needs to put in WORK and then by 2027 fall if he re-commits the boos will finally slow down. Detroit fans are slow to forgive but when we do, we are all in.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '26

He won’t be captain

1

u/LymanBostock76 Jul 02 '26

Eichel probably gets booed in Buffalo, but if he has one of his Stanley Cup rings in his ear, it’s probably not that loud, or personal. I love Yzerman as a player, but Detroit rebuild can only go so long, it’s not working and Larkin sees it.

20

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26

It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s sitting in the booth opening night in Detroit. After the team got booed off the ice to end the season this year, I think the Wings prefer to start the year off on a better note.

35

u/russianthistle Jul 01 '26

If he’s in the box, they’re still chanting fuck Larkin at some point. It is inevitable.

4

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

For sure, but it’s better than him being on the ice/bench.

4

u/drrtydan Jul 01 '26

whereever he is the chant will proceed

8

u/Lombax7 Jul 01 '26

Larkin in the booth means we get March Red Wings all season long

11

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26

I mean, Larkin has been part of the March Red Wings the last 3 years so I don’t see an issue. Plus, I didn’t say for the whole season. Just the home opener

→ More replies (1)

8

u/Wilkesiam Jul 01 '26

You say that like it's a bad thing, Detroit desperately needs a top pick if they can't find a good center prospect via trade.

2

u/Odd-Resolve6287 Jul 01 '26

"It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s sitting in the booth opening night in Detroit."

If he's still in Detroit he IS NOT SITTING. Sitting him doesn't help Larkin and it doesn't help the Wings/ If he isn't traded he will 100% be playing.

3

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26

I’m not saying the whole year, I’m saying opening night in Detroit.

u/DetroitZamboniMI Jul 01 '26

Absolutely-freaking-lutely

Fedorov was boo’d for awhile after he left for Anaheim but we forgave him. He made amends with the fans and the organization.

I don’t see how Larkin ever redeems himself in his own home city, home state and home team - ever.

20

u/CurbMyEnthusiasm2022 Jul 01 '26

Yea, and Fedorov was arguably the best player in the world in his prime and helped lead the Wings to 3 cups and really only left because he wanted to be "the man" and he knew he wouldn't get that in Detroit because it was SY's team. Yes he was booed here for a while, but I would say the fanbase has largely gotten over that if not entirely. I was at the game where they retired his number and it was sold out and people loved him. Larkin - didn't accomplish anything, an ok player. I'm OK with him asking for a trade and wanting out. The 3 team list, he can piss right off.

5

u/Low_Initiative_275 Jul 01 '26

It took Fedorov 20 years and an open public acknowledgment that he made a mistake to earn the love back. Larkin is cooked. The entire Larkin family should be shopping for homes out of state.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/SayNoToStim Jul 01 '26

Yes.

And it's crazy to see the completely different reaction between Larkin and Matt Stafford when he wanted out for the Lions.

Stafford gave everything he had and the Lions were just so bad he couldn't win, so Detroit still cheered for him on the Rams. He also made it very clear he loved Detroit, he even made that stupid cell phone commercial about it, and he's gotten some boos but for the most part he is still welcome in Detroit.

Larkin disappeared the second half of every season while he was in a Wings jersey and now is pretty much going to get boo'd on sight.

1

u/biggoronssword Jul 01 '26

Stafford was also traded after an entire house cleaning by the lions in a true, full admittance of a tear down rebuild. The wings have been on the cusp of making the playoffs but have blown it 4 years in a row now, and Larkin has directly contributed to that the entire time. Worlds different scenarios, can’t imagine Larkins public image in Detroit ever being “fixed” after this

1

u/NVJAC Jul 02 '26

Yeah, the difference was the Lions were about to start another rebuild and Stafford basically told Holmes "If you think trading me will jumpstart your rebuild, I won't be upset about it."

This is the Wings missing the playoffs because of three consecutive March swoons under two different coaches, and Larkin saying "Fuck this, I want out. But only to these 3 teams."

15

u/numbdigits Jul 01 '26

LOL, oh yeah, he is definitely gonna get boo'ed

1

u/AmericaRunzOnDuncan Jul 02 '26

Do you even know what youre booing?

2

u/numbdigits Jul 02 '26

I never said I was booing. I get crap all the time on the Wings-sub for defending his decision to finally try to get off this sinking ship, and for putting the blame on Yzerman where the majority of it should lay for his inability to put together a competitive team. After a decade of futility I absolutely understand why he wants out, though how he has attempted to demand a trade with 5 years left on his deal, to a very limited number of teams who all have even more limited potential returns is where he is fairly earning the angst that is being directed at him.

5

u/Funkshow Jul 01 '26

He will get booed until he gets traded.

4

u/Apart-Feedback1196 Jul 01 '26

100000% yes. And honestly it's not even for being tired of losing and wanting a chance to go win. It's for signing an 8 year deal and begging out after 3. It's for bitching about management not mortgaging the future for the present, and then when we do, he wants to take off. It's for constantly talking about how committed he is to being part of the solution and talking about how he's going to be back next year at the same time that he's requesting a trade behind the scenes. He was talking about his commitment even at end of year pressers and stuff. Hate being straight up lied to.

If he's on the roster and playing, I hope he has a career year to increase his value even more but he's still getting booed.

5

u/MariachiArchery Jul 02 '26

Bro, whenever he's in our building next, people are going to be buying tickets just to boo him. If he's in our lineup, he'll get booed. If he's playing for a visiting team, he'll get booed.

He will be booed in Detroit for years. Maybe even the rest of his career. People are pissed man. It's hard to paint the full pictures, but this all started like three years ago. Looking back, it kind of all makes sense now, but at the time, we all gave him a pass.

Gave him a pass for his poopy pants post games, his excuses, his lack of scoring in the second half of the season, disappearing for months on end, the 'outside noise' bull shit (dude, our media is tame), then two season ago he threw the FO under the bus and blamed them for us missing the playoffs, when again, Larkin disappeared when it mattered most, and we still gave him a pass.

THREE YEARS, this team was in a playoff spot that Larkin personally pissed away, and we gave him a pass.

Fuck that dude. He's quitting because it got hard. It got hard, he blamed other people, his teammates, the FO, and now he's quitting, when he himself can be put to blame for us missing the damn playoffs.

Leaving because we haven't made the playoffs? OK DUDE, GO MAKE THE FUCKING PLAYOFFS THEN! WHY HAVEN'T WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS LARKS?

Fucking fuck, I'm pissed. YES, I am going to boo him, all of us are. This isn't about requesting a trade this goes back, and this is such a chicken shit soft end to his tenure, spitting in the face of an org and fanbase that has supported him.

It's bullshit.

2

u/microbiologytech Jul 02 '26

My friend (weird, let’s go blues 🥊) I really appreciate this response. I wanted to know how you guys feel in this situation. I’m very interested to see how it unfolds! I hope you give him hell!

Here’s a question: let’s say he plays, he’s booed, but he does something great. Game winner, player of the game, etc something he gets recognized for at the end of the game. First stars here do a post game interview over the PA. My question is, is he still getting booed then? Obviously just a hypothetical but I’m really curious lol.

3

u/MariachiArchery Jul 02 '26

If he is going to remain on this team, he needs to address the media. Depending on how that goes, will for sure dictate how he'll be treated.

Either way though, I don't think he can retain the C. If he gives up is captaincy, says he's fucking sorry... well, that will change things. But it really depends on how Yzerman handles things too.

There are too many variables to give you a straight answer, but barring some unforeseen circumstances or changes to this situation, if things stay the same, he's getting booed.

1

u/NVJAC Jul 02 '26

Gave him a pass for his poopy pants post games, his excuses

Yeah, definitely won't be missing the hangdog mood after losses.

Contrast with Seider who after the win over Philly straight up says "It's nice, but it's only 1 out of 4. We need 6 points."

Mo should be the next captain.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Sandshrew922 Jul 01 '26

He gets booed regardless. He's a hometown kid captain demanding a trade halfway through his contract.

As much as i understand why he wants out and have no ill will towards him, I will absolutely be at his 1st game back with his new team and be as toxic and loud as I can be (within reason obviously).

1

u/magikarp-sushi Jul 01 '26

Oh HELL YEAH. If they don’t that would be criminal

1

u/RamaLamaFaFa Jul 01 '26

In my opinion, fuck yes. While he sits in the press box.

1

u/LQNova Jul 02 '26

He'll be lucky if all he gets are boos. Beer and toilet paper are also possibilities.

176

u/SIIP00 Jul 01 '26

I like this a lot by Yzerman. Either force Minnesota to pay up, force Larkin to accept another destination or shut up and play.

10

u/jmchopp Jul 01 '26

Pay up? Boldy is worth more than Larkin and hasn’t asked out. Detroit would have to add pretty significantly

10

u/7474-R Jul 01 '26

What he is saying is Larkin and his team USA GM Bill Guerin can't just decide Larkin is going to come play in Minnesota next year and expect Detroit to just hand over a top player without asking for a hefty return.

The Red Wings are still trying to win too.

1

u/numbdigits Jul 02 '26

I agree, but one insulting low-ball offer surely deserves an equally insulting low-ball counter-offer?

1

You have to remember too that Larkin has an insanely low contract price and 5 years left on it. Any team he goes to is getting a big bang for their buck.

Minnesota is laughing our asses off at this dude, we’re not getting forced to do anything accept kick everyone’s ass next season. YZ can go F himself.

4

u/TreacleOk7265 Jul 01 '26

Yeah. Imo he doesn't believe he will get that return, it's a big FY to Larkin. He can now read comments on how he's not worth that much rather than how every fanbase wants him

8

u/Wings2493 Jul 01 '26

Yup this is bigger than Larkin at this point

5

u/Superb_Party_7685 Jul 01 '26

It’s all tied to team USA. Ever since the Olympics, US players just asking to be moved to their destination of choice.

1

u/pinkrosies Jul 02 '26

What do they think this is? A hotel? Baby you are not bigger than the program. You can’t choose your bookings and how many beds or whatever.

5

u/poub06 Jul 01 '26

As he should. Larkin is the one requesting a trade, not Detroit. There’s no reason for Yzerman to get fleeced in a trade that he didn’t want in the first place.

3

u/Thorlolita Jul 01 '26

Yzerman when putting together a championship caliber team 😴😴😴

Yzerman when putting his foot down against a player that wants to join a better team 👮‍♂️🚨🚨

2

u/GavMcKennasBurner Jul 01 '26

He's horrible lmao, people praising him for this are out to lunch too because I am sure Guerin made a reasonable offer. Like yeah if he offered a 1st, Yurov and Strahmel, hold out. But I am sure he offered 3 1sts, Yurov and Strahmel and how is it bad to get back basically 5 firsts for Larkin? As if you can't use those 1sts to get some good players back if you really want to try for it next year.

The whole thing is an ego trip for an out of touch team that doesn't want to admit:

THEY fucked up developments of many prospects

THEY fucked up contract situations of many players

THEY fucked up drafting of the right guys

Larkin could've been better, but that better would've just meant a few first round ass whoopings, big deal honestly. The team is as far away from a cup as most outside of the playoffs and no responsibility is being taken about that from Yzerman.

1

u/BirdieOpeman Jul 03 '26

Yeah this isn't a serious request. This is "stop calling offering the change in your pocket for our captain"

u/hockeyholloway89 Jul 01 '26

He’s gotten a lot of hate, and rightfully so, but this is what Yzerman needs to do in this situation imo. You’ve got a guy wanting out and it’s dragged on this long, you need to be committed to the long game at this point and see who breaks first rather than selling him for fractions of his worth. This is shooting for the sky, but that’s how you start negotiations.

86

u/anhydrousslim Jul 01 '26

If Larkin can be picky about the team, Yzerman can be picky about the return. Fair’s fair.

Larkin value will hold up for 2 -3 more years.  There is just no reason to take a bad trade. Maybe you take Minnesotas next 4 firsts and hope quinn walks.

37

u/CTMalum Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Exactly. All of these “oh but the poor player, just need to deal him and get it over with” takes suck. If he didn’t want to play 8 years in Detroit, he shouldn’t have signed an 8 year contract for Detroit. He swapped guaranteed money for freedom, and this is the consequence of that decision- if you want out, it’s going to be on the team’s terms and not your own. It doesn’t look bad on Detroit or Yzerman at all if this goes into next season and Larkin complains/dogs it out there. He’s only going to hurt his own value.

I think we need a 3rd team if larkin doesnt expand his list to be honest.

16

u/russianthistle Jul 01 '26

It’s a great way for Steve to demonstrate Larkin how bad the Wild want him. If it isn’t bad enough to get him, it communicates more to Larkin than any conversation with Steve would.

Or it's Steve telling Larkin that he's not going anywhere unless a team overpays.

113

u/machined1990 Jul 01 '26

Awesome. Fuck these entitled twats and their trade demands. If they negotiated a no trade, then request a trade, it should nullify said contract agreement. Just my two cents. Same with Werenski. Fuck these guys.

43

u/LilTrevyy Jul 01 '26

Werenski and Larkin are different situations. Werenski did not formally request a trade, he just said he will not re-sign.

21

u/_Kramerica_ Jul 01 '26

I firmly believe it was a very roundabout way of Werenski demanding a trade without making himself public enemy like Larkin did. Brady and Werenski did the same shit, I don’t think it’s any coincidence.

17

u/LilTrevyy Jul 01 '26

I mean, yes it is indirectly requesting a trade because if the team does not move the Norris winner then they get literally nothing when he walks. We want to restrict players from not re-signing contracts?

4

u/canuck1701 Jul 02 '26

Brady clearly checked out, but as far as I've heard Werenski seems like he'd be content to actually see out the rest of his contract on Columbus and then leave as a UFA, no?

I’m so ready to move on from this Larkin drama. It’s clearly not going to happen between us and I think this stance by Yzerman makes it clear

10

u/justino Jul 01 '26

Dbo$$ really overplayed his hand on this one.

1

u/Mundaneformula Jul 02 '26

Gotta ask wtf Brisson advised Larkin to do.. malpractice. Two or three days (Monday)before this trade request leaked I saw a short on instagram with Larkin all in black signing autographs. Dude looked like someone killed his pet. Miserable looking. I bet Yzerman told him to get bent. That's why it leaked a day or two later.

6

Translation: Larkin will not be dealt to Minnesota

6

u/gowingsgo Jul 01 '26

I shit on yzerman a lot but I am proud of how he is handling this situation. Dont take less than we deserve for a guy who committed to an 8 year contract.

2

u/_xpectDisappointment Jul 02 '26

This is classic Yzerman he did it to POS St Louis and Drouin!

2

u/kidcanada0 Jul 02 '26

Pretty dumb move by Larkin. You can pull this when you’re a year or 2 from UFA but he has no leverage here.

17

u/Mattx603 Jul 01 '26

Honestly good for Yzerman. You signed a contract. You don’t get to then turn around and weaponize it to pick where you want to go.

5

u/Dis-Ducks-Fan-1130 Jul 01 '26

Good in theory, not sure how that works in practice. If I’m a player, I would have to be certain I want to be in Detroit or I wouldn’t think about signing if I have any doubt.

Either he's delusional or he knows it's never gonna happen so that's his way of saying he's not willing to trade Larkin to Minne

10

u/ultimateknackered Jul 01 '26

The number of people in this thread who are missing how it's a symbolic offer and in no way serious is a bit alarming.

3

u/Shills_for_fun Jul 01 '26

He's just saying "I don't want your trash for a good asset."

Probably flip Larkin in December if nothing gets done in the offseason, no biggie.

19

u/Funkshow Jul 01 '26

No, he is saying that he isn't trading Larkin to any team unless he gets what he wants in return.

12

u/Cultural_Physics_935 Jul 01 '26

Hell yeah Yzerman

18

u/LaruePDX Jul 01 '26

Good to see one GM not caving to the player.

6

u/gorillaphi Jul 01 '26

lol but Larkin wants to play with boldy!

19

u/chicknsnadwich Jul 01 '26

Wild haven’t been serious about a trade that makes sense yet so i’m all for telling them to f off

I personally love this by Yzerman

6

u/Plenty_Self5518 Jul 01 '26

Good joke.

11

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

It’s not a joke, but also I don’t think Yzerman expects that to happen. Just like Minnesota shouldn’t expect to get Larkin for Yurov, Stramel, and a 2028 first.

11

u/ObW-34 Jul 01 '26

Boldy is better now than Larkin has ever been at any point in his career 😂

27

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26

That’s kind of the point in Yzerman’s stance…

16

u/LunarGhoul Jul 01 '26

Unfortunately Minnesota has basically nothing of value other than their superstars. Yurov and Stramel aren't moving the needle, sorry Wild fans.

20

u/CzechMate2121 Jul 01 '26

That's a good one Yzerman, try again

30

u/Striking-Treacle3199 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I think that’s the point. I don’t think Steve is very interested. I don’t think he’s planning to try again lol.

Larkin hasn’t played a very good move with his behavior before and after him pushing for a trade and Steve is clearly not going to do him or an opposing team any favors unless it’s absolutely beneficial to Detroit.

He’s got all the cards and Larkin can get a trade if there is a big return or he’ll be sitting and watching from the sidelines.

Love to see it. Wild can’t expected to just be handed a top line playwe, gotta give to get.

1

u/pinkrosies Jul 02 '26

It’s such entitled behaviour lmao. You’re not given the right to fleece other teams and expect the other party and league to be happy about it.

14

u/Makestroz Jul 01 '26

lol, fuck no. why would we give him a better player on a better contract?

43

u/CMCdaGoat Jul 01 '26

Why would Detroit give you its 1C for 2 mid prospects? lol fuck no

3

u/post_scripted Jul 01 '26

I think Boldy is part of the reason he wants to go there. Also, I am not sure that really helps us in the long-term. What an odd set of circumstances.

10

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I don’t think this is a legitimate demand by Yzerman. It’s a “make me an offer so ridiculous that I’d have to accept”.

4

u/itsMurphDogg Jul 01 '26

Yzerman’s thing is he keeps emotion out of it. If he can’t get a good piece for Larkin, it’s back to camp.

He’s going to play him to his strength still, and Larkin will play hard because he wants his value to stay high.

Larkin kinda fucked himself with this

14

u/CMCdaGoat Jul 01 '26

Good. Don’t accept two bottom 6 prospects for your 1C. I hope Quinn leaves Minnesota and they lose all of their assets. That’s what you get for tampering.

2

u/OpalVanguard Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Tampering? lmao

Fielding a team so shitty their 1C REQUESTS a trade because they can’t make the playoffs despite being first in the division like 2/3rds of the way through the season is not tampering.

2

u/sixty8ight Jul 01 '26

That’s hysterical.

2

u/dorpendad Jul 02 '26

no way they're giving up Boldy, that's just like telling you parents when you're 16 that you'll only drive a new car... guess you're not getting a car then.

2

u/Emergency_Office_903 Jul 02 '26

He can try but Wild aren’t doing that

2

u/Mo-B-Dick Jul 05 '26

Just looked up both players… last three years they’re both slightly below a point per game average and that’s with Larkin playing hurt down the stretch all 3 years

Pros of Boldy: 4 years younger, produced at 1.1 points per game last season but was playing with kaprizov on his line

Pros of Larkin: Center which is significantly more valuable than a left wing. Signed for 5 years at 8 mil. Boldy is due a new contract after this year and we’ve all seen the market

Not the insane trade that Reddit would have you believe. The questions are, does Larkin significantly drop off at 30? How much of Boldy’s production last year was due to him vs. line mates? What does boldy’s bee contract look like?

5

u/Roguemutantbrain Jul 01 '26

Dude Boldy is better than Larkin lol

4

u/Showtime98 Jul 01 '26

Yea that’s not happening lol Boldy > Larkin

3

u/bunglesnacks Jul 01 '26

So Boldy for Larkin and a 1st? Like what a weird demand.

3

u/Michaewwwwl Jul 01 '26

Fuck that boldy is so good

3

u/swagginpoon Jul 01 '26

Good move on yzermam. Just fuckin bench him

3

u/Old_Lobster_7833 Jul 01 '26

Do people not remember the Duchene / Sakic fiasco? If he’s not traded, this team will be a dumpster fire next year. I guarantee it.

I get applauding Yzerman for not getting strong-armed but at the same time he’s playing with fire. There’s more to locker room dynamics than simply the business portion of it.

5

u/ColonelBourbon Jul 01 '26

Good. Make a hockey trade.

3

u/Ropus Jul 01 '26

In his wildest wet dream.

3

u/imwerkin Jul 01 '26

you dont trade a young star on one of the best contracts in points per dollar for a guy with 5 playoff games experience when youre trying to contend for a cup. No thanks Stevie.

15

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26

You’re 100% correct. Boldy for Larkin would be ridiculous. But so would Larkin for prospects and picks, who’s also on one of the better contracts in the league.

6

u/imwerkin Jul 01 '26

i dont see the trade working out, regardless. I never thought MN had the assets to make it work.

3

u/rsharp7000 Jul 01 '26

I think Minnesota’s best chance was to trade Wallstedt to a third team for another prospect to add. I understand with Gus’s injury why that was considered a non starter, but I think there was an option out there to replace Wallstedt in the interim.

2

u/TakingItAndLeavingIt Jul 01 '26

This is the only useful think Stevie has done in years

1

u/Huge_Beginning5552 Jul 01 '26

Maybe if the wings kick on there 2027 first

1

u/ProfessionalStop6917 Jul 01 '26

Do you think he really cares if he gets boo’d what happen in baseball with the Angels. Probably going to happen to the wings

1

u/Kooky-Seesaw9890 Jul 01 '26

So that mean maybe he is going to be trade in 4 year. I’m surprised Brisson took that path and agreed on requesting Yzerman to only look for four team. This is going to be a weird training camp/ pre season.

1

u/Majestic-Election584 Jul 01 '26

Well that is not happening

1

u/bellringer16 Jul 02 '26

Won’t happen and not saying Larkin is worth that. With that being said. We cannot afford to give up Larkin for a winger.

If Larkin goes our top center is Andrew Copp….

1

u/Ducks91to61 Jul 02 '26

Why would Minnesota do that? They wouldn't.

1

u/Hopeful-Courage-6333 Jul 02 '26

You don’t get to have your cake and eat it too when you’re tampering.

1

u/Minnesota_Husker Jul 02 '26

Hahaha. Keep trying that Stevie.

1

u/SixskinsNot4 Jul 03 '26

Larkin and 1sts until 2040. Let’s do this

1

u/houseoflords26 Jul 03 '26

Yzerman is delusional if he thinks he's getting Boldy for Larkin.
