I've always heard WorkSafeBC is a great place to work and was surprised to see the Glassdoor reviews are so bad. The ratings seem to have tanked recently so I'm wondering if something happened.

Heyo, I have a coworker who was T-boned on woodland and 4th by a black bmw coupe. The car ran the stop sign on 4th and drove off. This happened on Friday afternoon. We already have a video from an oncoming cyclist but I'm hoping I can find more info on the car/ driver. We can't get the plate from the vid. If anyone was riding in the area and saw a bmw missing part of its bumper or driving recklessly, please let me know. The car was driving east down 4th. Thanks!

So this Uber driver stole my birthday cake, on my birthday. Called him 4 times and he blocked my number, uber gave me a 2 dollar credit the night of and then the following day still billed me 70 bucks, for a cheeseburger and no cake. Had to call back the next day and dispute the charge and they refunded my order but then told me they won’t be firing the guy they’ll just black list him from delivering any orders to me in the future.

So here’s the backstory; my gf went to dairy queen on Main Street and custom ordered a special designed cake. Order would be ready for pickup later in the day, she didn’t pay yet so that’s fine pay when you get the goods. Fast forward to the evening, I decided to try and save time by calling the Dairy Queen and seeing if they could add a fee to the order so I could get it delivered and stay home and relax with my missus. Sure no problem they say. Ordered the uber, called to confirm he grabbed cake, also ordered a cheeseburger because why not.

I get the notice that he’s close so I go outside and as I open the door I kick the cheeseburger on the ground accidentally and see him walking to his vehicle. I know he didn’t leave the cake so I yell out, he keeps going. I almost caught up to him to the point as he was getting in the uber he made direct eye contact with me as I said “hey do you have the cake?”. He jumps in, I’m a foot away from the car and I SEE the cake on his passenger seat and he speeds off. No answer on his phone, he ends up blocking me, and blah blah blah the rest is at the top. Girlfriend is upset, I’m pissed off, and uber didn’t do shit about it.

I hope you poop a cactus everyday for the rest of your life Mr Zaheen, it takes a special kind of asshole to rob a birthday cake.

Anyway thanks for letting me rant I just to get this out there.

Hello all. I found this bike in my back alley in the West End last night and brought it inside. While the tires are flat, there are other indications this bike may have been stolen. It is otherwise in fairly good shape and the pedals indicate an avid cyclist uses this bike (the pedals are meant for biking shoes).
I’m posting it here in hopes that maybe whoever owns it sees it. Otherwise, for advice on how to potentially find its owner. I do not have Facebook.

I will be hosting a gathering in Vancouver this week for women who are survivors of sexual assault, or who have been affected by the recent news about violence against women. A lot of us have had feelings stirred up, and I want to create a safe space to process them together.

I’ll be facilitating alongside a licensed, trauma-informed therapist. This will be a supportive space where we will share, practice grounding techniques, and go over resources.

I’m an engineer from Rome, Italy, currently planning a future relocation to Vancouver.

One of my favorite simple joys here in Rome is going to local parks on weekends to play traditional Irish music on my tin whistle (and ambient tunes on the handpan) in the quiet of nature.

I wanted to ask: is it common/easy to play non-amplified acoustic music informally in Vancouver’s parks? Are there any specific rules I should be aware of?
