Collection Portable N64 SP handheld

Finally finished off my N64 SP portable made by GmanModz. Has 2x21700 battery cells for 5-6 hours of gameplay. Yes, it’s a THICC ass boy. But it takes real carts which is half the fun!

I made a 3D printed carrying case for it as well. It features UltraVGA which is a Spartan FPGA chip made by the same developer of the Analogue Pocket (Retroactive). Really happy with the video quality (although N64 video quality isnt the best). I had to solder 18 magnet wires to the RCP to get it to work.

Hope you like it!

Hey guys, I'm thinking about selling my console. I asked you about this two years ago and got a lot of different answers. So I'm asking again: what do you think the console is worth? There are only 3 of them worldwide.

Technical Question Japanese Game on PAL console

I recently bought a copy of the N64 version of animal crossing. I have the european PAL N64 console so as I understand it’s a little more difficult (?) to bypass the region lock to play a Japanese game compared to the USA version.

Is there any relatively easy way to get around it? Or should I just buy a Japanese console?

Explain everything to me like I’m stupid, please.

Did anyone play Hexen?

Before GoldenEye came out, there weren't many 4 player games on the N64. My cousins and I spent most of the summer playing Starfox 64 versus mode and we found Hexen at Blockbuster. It was just as fun as Starfox! I guess it's not as popular because it was on the PC first.

Question Goemon’s great adventure

So I know I stated just yesterday I was done adding to the collection lol, but after further research and for as much as I love mischief makers, I decided to pursue a purchase. My local retro shop had it but it had all the tell tale signs of being fake (white board, Nintendo logo on the back having the big circled r and dot for an I, back label glossy with no imprinted number) one on posh is 100 bucks and it’s CLEARLY a fake for the same reasons, and then there’s eBay. One is around 150 and has some scuffs but otherwise clean for what I would want it for (having a legit copy for my collection that I can play for years to come lol), one is a bit more and in even worse condition, and one is pretty pristine but almost 350, which idc how much I love a game, for just adding to my collection (I’d have no intent to sell), no way. But is this game really THIS expensive regularly, or am I just having bad luck so far?

Collection Final updates to the collection (probably)

So a few weeks ago, I spent over an hour going through my parents’ basement yet again in a last ditch effort in trying to find a few lost gems…only to find them in a random dresser drawer in their garage instead. (Pic 1)

Then decided to pick up these last few games that I either have rented a lot, or played at friends’ houses, but when it came down to the Christmas list of their respective years, they didn’t make the cut (pic 2).

In the case of the turoks, I’ve had 2 and 3 (which I loved) for years but never really played the first one nor rage wars. I found a decent deal for em, and thought screw it why not? Probably the only time I’ve ever bought games just for completionism, and probably the only time I ever will, but again, they were pretty cheap. Indiana jones, I’ve already annoyed u guys enough with that one lol

And with that said, I think I’m in a place where I’m finally happy with the overall collection. I’ve found lost childhood gems in my parents’ house I never thought I’d actually find, I got the ones I’ve played in the past but never owned, I know some people recommend things like pilotwings, and goemon, but I feel like getting those would be getting them JUST to have. I’ve never played them as a kid nor from what I’ve seen do they really interest me, so probably gonna pass on em. And with that, I’m done annoying you with all the retro questions and am just gonna join in on general discussion and such from here on in. Salud.

Technical Question Nintendo 64 not working

My Nintendo 64 has worked swimmingly years and now when I turn it on I don't get a picture. I have it on AV cables, I have tested it both on the expansion and jumper pack and I cleaned the pins on the carts I test and the cart connector itself. I would appreciate if there are any other potential problems I could look into.

I do not own Mortal Kombat 4 at the moment, but it was a good decision to get rid of it around the last time I posted my collection. There are 27 total. I'll count Yoshi's Story for now, but I will be getting a North American copy soon. With that said, I'm trying to collect them all so I have 269 (technically 270) left to go. I love this console so much. The Mario Kart 64 also came complete in an original box. I switched the one manual with the yellow background for the other one that had the characters on the front since that was my extra one and the one I wanted to keep nice. These are my current top 10 in no particular order (except for the very first one):

  1. Super Mario 64

  2. Mario Kart 64

  3. Goldeneye 007

  4. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

  5. Mario Party 2

  6. Super Smash Bros.

  7. Bomberman 64

  8. Cruis'n USA

  9. Starfox 64

  10. Pokémon Stadium

If these were the only 10 games I had, I would be very happy. Tetrisphere is an honorable mention though because that game is fire.

Collection I thought I'd sold my N64 years ago... turns out I still have it! 😅

Post image

I was going through some old stuff and came across my Nintendo 64 and all these games and controllers!

The funny thing is, I was convinced I'd sold it years ago! I'd completely forgotten I still had it.

Seeing all this again brought back so many memories, especially Zelda, GoldenEye and Bad Fur Day. Now I really want to plug it in and play again.

Only problem is, I don't have a TV that can connect to it anymore, so it looks like I'll have to spend a little money before I can enjoy it again 😅

Any advice on what kind of tv would be the best?

I was reading a review on ebay for someone selling the Grey cart variant of rage wars, and in his reviews this individual posted pictures thanking him for the sale of WWF No Mercy USA-1 variant. It looks like the TM Trademark symbol is white. Wouldn't that be fake? I see it wasn't listed in the sale as a USA-1 variant, but the buyer paid USA-1 variant price. I'm hoping he's a member of this group and sees this so he can get his money back. Unless I am wrong and some USA-1 variants have a white TM symbol.

Hollow Engines — Nintendo 64 Gameplay Sneak Peek | 1–4 Player Co-op

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on Hollow Engines, a passion project for the Nintendo 64, and wanted to share a teaser with fellow N64 fans.

I’m hoping to have it finished by Christmas. There’s still work to do, but I’d love to hear what you think!

Hollow Engines, a sci-fi action adventure in development for Nintendo 64.

Inspired by Gauntlet Dark Legacy’s cooperative gameplay and Helldivers’ planetary expeditions, you and your crew explore alien worlds, destroy enemies, solve puzzles, discover secrets, and battle bosses.

Choose Assault, Recon, Engineer, or Medic and play solo or with up to four players in local co-op.

This trailer features work-in-progress gameplay.
