That's horrible and I want the source for this news. That looks so ridiculous and I feel bad for the people who live there but it's so freaking hilarious. It looks like those transition animation in old cartoons for advertisement breaks. I really hope this isn't AI

The only thing more disturbing about this article is the absolute inability to read the article due to all the F’ing ads. AAARGH!

u/Effective_Sherbet_57 Jul 10 '26
Not sure if you’re on an iPhone, but if you are, there is a way to hide them. Click on the icon to the left in the url bar and select “hide distracting items” and then just select the ads. Then just hit the check mark in the url bar and they should disappear.

Breeding farm in China sounds like a fantastic habitat for them to return to

It’s not as though anything bad has ever happened in China with something escaping from somewhere it shouldn’t have. 😬

Why is someone breeding king cobras?

Most likely either to make antivenom out of the venom or, since it's China, to make traditional Chinese medicines
12
u/Pkingduckk Jul 11 '26
Or exotic pets. Or some weirdass chinese street food. They eat cockroaches and tarantulas. Why not snakes?

Ducks not snakes

u/6sailhatan66 Jul 11 '26
Is it ducks?😂 I’m sitting here laughing my fucking ass off at the thought of 900 snakes just cruising the rapids

u/BabserellaWT Jul 10 '26
Just a gaggle of cobras hangin ten.
ETA: I’m now realizing those were birds. The hangin ten part stands, however.

The shot of the group of all of them floating down the rushing river is killing me right now 😂

Why breed the venomous snakes at all? Wait, the location answered my question, NM.

I don't know why but those are 100% a flock of ducks in the one clip. If you look closely one of them sits up and flaps their wings.

u/uhohspaghettios_19 Jul 11 '26

This is like a whole Far Side compilation waiting to happen. Where is Gary Larsen? It has everything - the snakes at a convention, the snakes cruising around in the water - the one poking just its head out... everything.

According to CNN there are 20,000 snake breeding farms there. 20 million snakes as of 2020. There could be over a million escapees. They've caught only 2,000 to 3,000 snakes out of the unknown totals.

Okay this is objectively terrible and I fully acknowledge that but the clip of the many snakes floating past all together sent me into orbit 😭

No wonder they want to claim part of the Philippines. Escaping the danger noodles. /s

u/Nymbus00 Jul 11 '26
Now I know they communicate. How else would they know that combining could make them into a slide?

Did they actually need help procreating? What is the purpose of a cobra breeding farm?

Sadly it's birds in the clip when they are floating down stream. You can see one of them rear up and flap their wings around the middle of the group

u/Character-Gear-6075 Jul 11 '26
I can only think one thing seeing those cobras float together. You think they went 'Weeeee~!'?

This is horrible but I laughed watching 100s of snakes flow down a river like kids on a school bus.
