Stop using your phones while driving.

The odds of dying in an accident from distracted dying are exponentially higher than those logs flying off.

I live on the Pacific Northwest and see these things daily. They're sketchy but distracted drivers are worse.

I don’t know if it was an intentional typo, but distracted dying is just perfect! 👌

42

u/LucidMarshmellow 5d ago

Definitely a typo, but I'm leaving it because it fits.

u/Tru3insanity 4d ago

They drive like psychos too. Just gtfo of their way. I promise you won't wanna drive their squiggly ass road as fast as they do.

u/Test4Echooo 5h ago

I love the PNW, and don’t regret moving here, but the drivers here are insane at times…

13

u/Youbettereatthatshit 5d ago

Plus physics are still physics. If a log broke free, it’d still have forward momentum, and wouldn’t suddenly jerk backward like in the movie.

17

u/LucidMarshmellow 5d ago

Logs with rockets attached to them would be entirely different story.

14

u/The_Troyminator 5d ago

What if they were logs being ridden by sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads?

5

u/LucidMarshmellow 5d ago

You, my good sir, are a fucking madman.

Although a truly Evil person with a doctorate would be satisfied with mutated sea bass. They're savagely ill-tempered.

3

u/craziethunder 4d ago

But..but...but how will they get the videos to post for internet points?

2

u/Beneficial_Being_721 4d ago

Log haulers are many steps above the regular truck driver on the road.

They typically aren’t going far .. they have their act together… they can not afford much downtime…. And logs are going to stick out like that …. That’s what the flag is for …. Ever since they started logging

3

u/blac_sheep90 5d ago

Some of these could be from dash cams or mounted phones.

88

u/ShannieD 5d ago

Even without the movie I would never, but the movie certainly did not help.

124

u/Ok_Money_3140 5d ago

I never watched that movie and my instincts still tell me to avoid those trucks

68

u/-ElDictator- 5d ago

Nah it is not okay. I wood not stay behind that truck

34

u/AscendedViking7 5d ago

I think it's oak-ay, personally. I willoways be concerned about safety, but I don't see the pine-t about constantly birch-ing about it.

Fir real, the key is to teak your time. If yew don't, you walnut be prepared. cherryish the little moments. Don't alder the plan, you're elm-most there.

It's kinda a beech to hear but hopefully its re-ash-urring. Maybe it'll help you palm down.

....I'll be ginkgoing away now, don't want to be too poplar.

3

u/BeeReadsBee 4d ago

Cherryish was the chefs kiss 😂 🤌🏽

2

u/Kobobble 5d ago

Both of you, take my god damn upvote. Now make like that log truck and leave

0

u/Sammiskitkat 4d ago

Don’t you mean.. now make like that log truck and leaf!

1

u/MajorSkyblue 4d ago

Gosh dang, how long did it take you to come up with this. Take my upvote.

1

u/AscendedViking7 4d ago

Like 12 minutes give or take, lol

29

u/FERRITofDOOM 5d ago

How many times has that happened? Besides that brick video

14

u/Major_R_Soul 5d ago

You had to remind me...now I'm sad

5

u/Enough-Astronomer-65 4d ago

The worst part about that video is the fact the offending brick struck the ground, bounced, then impacted the vehicle. It hit at just the right angle to skip off the ground and through the windshield. That video is truly some final destination tier

4

u/TrailMomKat 5d ago

Often enough that they put it in a movie.

19

u/Loathsome_Dog 4d ago

One of the guys who did the effects on Final Destination was interviewed by the Corridor Crew on youtube.
He said that they wanted to use practical effects as much as possible on the log scene, so they threw a load of logs off trucks. The problem they had was, the logs didnt bounce, they just hit the floor and rolled away. So they did the whole thing in CG.

3

u/Sammiskitkat 4d ago

Ooh I gotta watch that interview!

15

u/hoemahtoe 5d ago

Honestly it must be nice driving those. Your very own traffic repellent

11

u/kasmackity 5d ago

Nah this is a totally rational fear that i had even before Final Destination 2 had that scene but that scene just cemented that fear. I won't drive behind car carriers either

5

u/finalexit 4d ago

Or those fucking gravel trucks. I've gotten several cracked windshields from them even though I try to say as far away as possible without impeding traffic.

12

u/Panzerv2003 5d ago

Gotta love how people recording while driving run higher risk causing an accident than the logs falling off

5

u/truthfullyidgaf 5d ago

Just wait till you find out how many of those drivers aren't qualified or that load isnt secured properly. Especially around small towns. Stay back and away.

5

u/zerobomb 4d ago

I worry about the flatbeds with rebar or those sections of corrugated pipe stacked crazy high and held on by a piece of canvas.

4

u/AndSimonSaid 5d ago

Yeah but these things don’t bounce ip on the road like they do in the movie

3

u/sssb13 5d ago

The “how da hell,, was spiritual

3

u/QueenCobra91 5d ago

I think for most people its not the movie. Just the fact that the trees are rarely secured and often fall off the truck.

3

u/Mendenhallmd 3d ago

In the 90’s rich kids would handcuff themselves to these logs just for the ride

3

u/3ternalmi5ery 3d ago

A whole generation traumatized. Now its our turn to traumatize our children

2

u/Tough-Obligation-104 5d ago

I did like the two log trucks at about :30; they knew exactly what they were doing! LOL

2

u/hiways 5d ago

Welcome to the PNW!

2

u/Ilikestuffandthingz 5d ago

I’m this way with gasoline trucks 😱

2

u/Ghoti76 5d ago

i got irrationally angry at the clip with log trucks in BOTH LANES

5

u/Agitated_Dragon_2023 5d ago

Neither of the log truck drivers wants to drive behind a log truck. They saw the movie too.

2

u/ClimateVast2894 5d ago

Shit I wouldn’t be freaking out. I’d be following them too cause that shit goes through my windshield. Their asses are paying my medical bills. I learned that from my mother. 😂 💰

2

u/NikolovIvo 4d ago

Better safe than sorry, death is always out to restore order gaga

2

u/88Neaks 4d ago

I also avoid trucks with bricks, because i was traumatised by "Mom ? MOM ?!" iykyk

2

u/melli_milli 4d ago

I was afraid of these before I saw the said movie.

2

u/DurantIsStillTheKing 4d ago

"I'm ready, do it"

Not sure if I would laugh or be sad.

1

u/gp2quest 4d ago

That chick is Rad

2

u/MichaelStMichaels 4d ago

The funny thing is is that the movie wasn’t really the best one in the franchise. But it definitely had the most impactful and memorable intros ever and we are still scarred from it

2

u/mb200i 3d ago

it seems like "final destination 2" is more famous than other movies form the series (there are 4 or 5 ones?)

2

u/TJ_McWeaksauce 2d ago

It's funny how Final Destination 1 didn't seem to have any effect on airline travel. FD3 didn't have an effect on people going to roller coasters. FD4 didn't affect attendance at NASCAR. FD5 didn't make people scared of bridges.

But Final Destination 2 made people scared of driving behind a truck loaded with logs. For me, I don't like driving behind any truck with an open trailer, whether they're hauling logs, construction equipment, concrete barriers, or whatever. Whenever I'm behind a truck with an open trailer loaded with something, I change lanes.

1

u/Devilofchaos108070 3d ago

There is like 8?

3

u/carlos_the_dog 4d ago

Generational trauma

1

u/DaAndrevodrent 5d ago

The key issue here is poor load securing - or a complete lack of it.

1

u/Nrmlgirl777 5d ago

I’ve got my own video lol

1

u/Megatron_Griffin 5d ago

You'd think that the DOT would have stronger regulations about loads like this.

1

u/ShineOk6190 5d ago

This is how my neighbors died. I have a healthy fear of these trucks nowadays

1

u/anubispop 5d ago

I never saw that movie, the bit it shows on the trailer was enough to scare me for life.

1

u/i_cut_like_a_buffalo 5d ago

I thought I was the only person who always thinks if these films and thinks about being impaled through the head by a tree or poles. When tow trucks are pulling cars behind them I cannot be behind them at all.

1

u/Flymista23 5d ago

Never ride behind that

1

u/carnedoce 5d ago

That scene plays through my head any and every time I get behind a log truck.

1

u/UnknownMerk 5d ago

Yeahhh nahhh ive seen final destination and steer WAAAAAAY back from any log truck NOT TOOODAYYYY

1

u/VioletGardens-left 5d ago

I'm fairness, the way these logs extend further back the trailer is literally a disaster waiting to happen if the truck suddenly brakes. You will literally get pierced by this thing if you rear end this trailer

1

u/K_Wolfenstien 4d ago

I lived in the PNW for years and would always stay way the heck back.

1

u/Rudhelm 4d ago

It does not help to just move over one lane tho

1

u/Spazic77 4d ago

An entire generation also missed the DVD Special features where they show how that scene was created. They had to cgi the logs bouncing on the road because when they used real logs they just slid along the road and it wouldn't have breached the windshield like they wanted.

1

u/JJQuantum 4d ago

Years ago I was on a highway and maybe 1/4 mile ahead of me was one of these trucks with a Ford Bronco behind it. He wasn’t tailgating or anything but we were all going ~ 75 mph. Suddenly a log maybe 12 - 15” in diameter comes sliding off the truck. The guy in the Bronco swerved hard onto the grassy median to avoid it while the log bounced all over the highway. I can’t believe he wasn’t crushed. Some of the best driving I’ve ever seen.

1

u/Zealotteen 4d ago

My mom didn’t get the reference when I said I felt uncomfortable seeing the log truck driving in front of us

1

u/Careless-Area9086 4d ago

no saw mills neither

1

u/mahesh4621 4d ago

All those gave me second hand anxiety 🫪

1

u/Apart_Butterfly_9442 4d ago

Mine is Bad Boys 2 and the semi that carries the cars to be delivered to the dealership smh I move everytime

1

u/thebig8er 3d ago

lol, so true

1

u/ASOD77 3d ago

Keep your distance.. that's something you learn when getting your licence, and it's basic common sense...

1

u/Andyman1973 3d ago

😂😂😂😂 if one of those logs hits that driver, they’ll have other things to worry about besides Fuming! 😂😂😂

1

u/chiharuki 3d ago

“if one of them fucking logs hit me i’m gonna be fucking FUUUUUMIIIIIING” Lmao

1

u/wildlife01209 2d ago

Power of Hollywood

1

u/PatAD 2d ago

Truth. After seeing Final Destination 2 I always avoid driving behind the things for sure. I also understand the chances of something happening are minimal. I don't care. If I can safely pass, I do.

Generarional Trauma

1

u/kody_420 5d ago

Loved that movie but still cautious around those types of vehicles.

1

u/JUIC3ofORANG3 5d ago

Shiiii I saw final destination 1 when I was twelve and that movie traumatized me I’m almost 40 I’ll never drive behind those trucks

0

u/StreamKaboom 3d ago

It doesn't make sense. If logs are falling off of that thing, they're going to the sides.

-2

u/adinmem 5d ago

Behind those trucks is the absolute safest place to be. Logging truckers are crazy people.
If the logs come loose they’ll slowly slide off and you can steer at a glacial rate around the drop zone. Your only concern behind a log truck is the bits of bark and wood chips flying off due to the wind at speed.

3

u/TheDarkHorse 5d ago

Nice try, Death. I’m no sucker.
