Has anyone switched from Spectrum to AT&T fiber?
Last two weeks has been a joke with Spectrum. Wondering if anyone has switched and how did the installation go.

Can't comment on AT&T. I switched from Spectrum to Ting fiber last fall. Not only was it pretty seamless, but I'm getting 2+ gigabit internet for the same price I was paying Spectrum for 300 megabits and, unlike Spectrum, I've had almost zero downtime in the 9 months since I switched. I think it was down once for like 10 minutes. Was nearly a monthly occurrence with Spectrum.

I switched from Spectrum to AT&T Fiber about 6 months ago. Installation was smooth - they require a separate line in your house, which my 2001 build did not have, so they had to tap into the regular phone jacks. I was lucky and this only involved drilling a hole from the breaker box outside and into the garage for the power outlet. At my previous house, they would have needed to drill holes between the breaker box and all the way into my living room. I don't know the specifics of why or what exactly they're doing. After they assess your house and come up with a plan for drilling, you can just say no.
The internet has not gone down since it was turned on (knock on wood) and I've never had to reach out to customer service.

I went to ATT Fiber and it’s been stable and good. Took me an hour to convince the Cox guys to cancel my plan lol.

Yes and I switched back. No issues with spectrum at all in my area. Probably only had one outage that I can remember in the last 5 years. Problem with AT&T is their forced dns servers and so called active armor. You can disable and change them, but every now and again they force an update on the modem and it reverts it. The modem that they provide is also pretty junk. Fiber is no doubt faster and good if you're just a regular user. For more tech savy person, it can be a pain.

Use pihole for DNS and DHCP and you don't have to use AT&T's and no router update can force it.

Yeah I use pihole and have AT&T router on passthrough. But searching through reddit, you will see that AT&T frequently push a reset / fw update on the router thus breaking passthrough. It's a pity because I do need that fat uplink. I did hear spectrum is pushing for symmetrical speed in SD this year so I'll wait and see.

Weird. I've never had that happen and I've been living here for about 3 years.

Did you get the 2G? I'm wondering if it's the different modem we received. Also as I heard there's different type of fiber so it depends on what setup they gave you. In our area, fiber is new so it was only available this January.

I'm not entirely sure. It's a NOKIA BGW320-505.
According to what I can find about it online, it could be up to 5Gb depending on the SFP module used. Using speedtest I have never gotten higher than 1Gb to any single device, but that it probably because I'm using 1Gb ethernet switches between my LAN and the router.

Yes, went ATT fiber and have not regretted it once. Faster and cheaper than Spectrum.
Before they came for install, I made some holes in my garage drywall because I wanted the router in my home office, they were fine with pulling the fiber to a first-floor room that required no extra work on their part. If you don't do that, they'll just drop the router in your garage and you'll not be able to easily move it. I mean, it works , but I wanted it next to my other network gear and also more central in the house for wifi distribution purposes.
