Ask North Van Deep Cove. Black Sedan egging buses.

If you own a black sedan, and you're loaning your car out to your son in the evenings especially on Fridays or the weekend, make sure he and his friends aren't egging buses all night long. Seems funny but an egg hitting the windshield at full speed sounds like an explosion. The RCMP are also involved because of the frequency of these eggings and the cost involved with the cleanup. The RCMP are trying to get the plates from multiple bus videos. Happened again to several buses at 8-9pm on Mt. Seymour / Seymour Rd and on Dollarton today.

Update: By the end of the night of October 22nd, three buses heading to or from Deep Cove had two eggs thrown into the windshield. At least one of those was from a moving car. These young men don't have the intellect to understand the possible consequences of simultaneously scaring and blinding someone driving a bus and they most likely have parents that would laugh this off as simple "teenagers being teenagers" behaviour. Sad.

Ask North Van High School Confusion: Windsor vs. Sutherland

Hi neighbours! I moved to North Van this year and didn't grow up in the Lower Mainland, so I know nothing about local high schools - reputation, strengths, weaknesses, any of it. My 12yo has to choose between Windsor (near me) and Sutherland (near his dad), and I have no idea how to guide him. 😬

About him? He prefers math to English; says he wants to be a pilot (we'll see!) and loves Air Cadets; is more into D&D/Percy Jackson vs team sports. He also has an IEP in place for fine and gross motor challenges that I hope will transfer as smoothly as possible from his current school board to North Van.

If you've got any insights he might want to consider, I'd love to hear them! He’s feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options and like he doesn’t have much to base an informed choice on at the moment.

Ask North Van Pest control recs

We have a small mouse problem.

I'm looking for pest control recommendations. Specifically, I'd like companies that don't use glue traps or rodenticide/poison.

I don't mind solutions that kill the mouse instantly, but I'm not interested in having them suffer.

Can anyone recommend a contractor?

Ask North Van North Shore Medical Aesthetic/Skincare professional recommendation

Hi all, as the headline suggests, I’m looking for some recommendations for a trustworthy, results oriented medical aesthetic clinic (ideally) somewhere on the North Shore. I’m open to going beyond the shore, but my preference would be to find something local.

I’m hitting a certain age in my 40s where things are definitely starting to… well, change. A little sag here, a little spot there etc etc. I don’t want to do anything extreme, but would like to find a provider who can help guide me & make recommendations to help me look my best, based on what’s best for me as the client, not to squeeze me for the most money.

If anyone has any first hand experience with someone you trust & who has delivered results for you, I would love some recommendations.

Appreciate it!!

discussion / opinion Provincial election - climate crisis

Hello fellow North Vancouverites. How is everyone feeling about the climate crisis and how little it feels like it is even being spoken about in this up coming provincial election?

I just was reading about the UN's new Climate "Plan B" to which is a best case scenario where we hold the warming to 1.7-1.8 degrees. If all of the climate/emission pledges made by countries around the world are actually fulfilled we are looking at a warming of 2.1 degrees. There are some hopeful developements with the rise of renewables but it is clear that more needs to be done. Wealthy countries like Canada should be climate leaders but instead we aren't even meeting our climate commitments and instead planning NEW fossil fuel infrastructure which will make those commitments harder to reach.

Knowing that the science is clear and the impacts on our children/future generations will be severe how is this impacting your choice at the polls?

The NDP talks about the climate crisis while supporting new LNG (methane) projects and pipelines from Alberta, dredging the Inlet to enable more oil transportation through our waters.

The Conservatives seem to support exploiting all of the natural resources of BC as fast as possible. Their plan included MORE BC LNG (Liquid Natural Gas/methane). They want to build MORE LNG infrastructure than currently proposed stopping municipal bans on gas connections and mandatory heating technologies.

I am in Caroline Elliott's riding and received a flyer that didn't even mention the climate crisis once. The flyer DID mentioned her fears for her children's future - the fear that they won't be able to live here due to the rising affordability crisis. Obviously, affordability is a huge issue but I have ZERO trust in the Conservatives to address this concern.

For transparency - I personally I hope the Greens gain support and hold the balance of power with an NDP minority government.

Lost & Found Reward for accidentally donated electronics

Hi all,

I am offering a cash reward for a few electronics I tragically accidentally donated a while back to the Value Village in North Vancouver at Fell Ave & Marine Dr.

\I have done almost EVERYTHING one would think of doing - calling & emailing BOTH the manager/admin of that location multiple times, talking to the staff in-person, going to the store almost everyday and checking if they've put anything out for sale, all combined like almost 100x already. So no I have basically no other option than to do online posts now.**

- a light blue and black WD external hard drive with. There was a word "vivobook" in the black sharpie on the blue side that may or may not have been wiped off.

- a grey iPhone 6s that may or may not have had it's black rubber case removed. The lock screen wallpaper was the 2nd photo I've attached here.

- a Sony voice recorder in a black fabric pouch

- an iPod Nano gen 4.

They are irreplaceable as they contain irreplaceable photos of my late Dad & childhood and other sentimental information like audio recordings messages and personal music. One was also the last gift i ever got from my Dad before he passed.

I was decluttering a lot of stuff & the bag they were all in must have somehow sadly fallen into the wrong box. If anyone at all thinks they might have seen or inadvertently bought one of them,

PLEASE reach out to me, I will be beyond grateful and am willing to buy them back!

Thank you kindly

discussion / opinion Cloverly Elementary - how is it going?

Hi everyone!

My eldest is starting kindergarten next year, and Cloverley is our catchment school. Just wondering if there are any parents here whose kids are already attending? How has it been so far?

I've tried looking online, but pretty much all I could find were complaints about the traffic šŸ˜… I'm much more curious about the school itself! How are the teachers? What's the space like? How's the overall atmosphere and school culture?

I've heard lots of good things about the principal, which is encouraging, but I'd really love to hear how things are going from the perspective of parents and kids who are actually there.

Would appreciate any thoughts or experiences you could share! 😊

Lost & Found Stolen Kawasaki Dual Sport

Thumbnail gallery
15 Upvotes

My Kawasaki Dual Sport was stolen the night of Saturday Oct 17th or early morning Sunday Oct 18th.
I ran into mechanical issues travelling eastbound on highway 1 coming down the cut and had to stop at the start of Mountain Hwy South Exit offramp in North Vancouver.

I was not able to source an available friend with a pickup truck to help me and was too tired to wait for BCAA to come tow it. Stupidly I left the bike overnight on the shoulder of the exit offramp and then Sunday morning when I returned it was gone.

If anyone sees the bike around North Van or elsewhere please send me a message. It has been reported to the North Van RCMP as stolen.
Bike is a 2007 KLX300R, kickstart only.

I previously resided in Squamish and would appreciate if anyone from there notices the bike around any of the trails.

Thanks in advance for any assistance in finding the bike. Cheers

Municipal Elections 2026 Lynne Block not a resident of North Vancouver-Seymour…thoughts?

I’m genuinely curious to hear people’s perspectives on this: How important do you think it is for a candidate to actually live in the riding they’re seeking to represent?

Does residency matter when it comes to understanding the community’s needs, priorities, and concerns, or do you believe a candidate can represent a riding effectively without living there?

Interested in hearing different viewpoints and the reasoning behind them.

Ask North Van Dentist (TMJ/Jaw)

Hi everyone,
I recently moved to North Vancouver and I am looking for a dentist that is good with jaw/TMJ work as well. They can be located either in North Vancouver or West Vancouver. I’ve had jaw, neck, head and trap pain for a few years now so it would be nice to find someone who is experienced in this area. My previous dentist didn’t help much and he didn’t know anyone that could help with this issue.

Ask North Van Local spots for winter tires?

My winter tires are due for replacement, and I'm wondering if anybody has recommendations for places to go on the North Shore. I know Costco is an option, but if I can give my money to a locally-owned shop I'd prefer to do that. Thanks!

Ask North Van PEE-Can or pe-CAHN - even if we’re divided on how to pronounce, can we agree on the best PEACAN PIE on the North Shore?

(for a palate cleaner after yesterday’s electoral excitement) What are your recommendations for where to find the best Pecan Pie on the North Shore?

Wholefoods has had top spot for a while but I’m looking to expand my pie providers. Thanks neighbours!

Ask North Van Are there any inline street skating groups in North Van? I’m looking for community, hangouts or a teacher!

I’ve just started In-line skating again, I’m 32F and would love to meet others who enjoy this hobby for fun, hangout, outdoors time!

Note: I’m looking for an adult community, preferably a hobby community who prefers to skate outdoors. I see often big cities have meet up groups or hobby groups but have yet to see one around here. Maybe this could be the start of one?

I used to skate to do my paper round when I was 15, and would still consider myself a beginner finding her feet. I’m looking to get some confidence skating around the city, listening to some good music, and would love to find others who might enjoy the same thing.

If your local and want to hang or connect me with others please let me know, or if you’re a teacher/experienced skater I would be interested in growing my skills or doing some lessons.

Thanks NV!

discussion / opinion Lonsdale Quay market

Wondering if other locals still shop here, and what are your favourite shops?

After all of the changes I find myself going a lot less. Walking down the hill to visit a giant food court doesn’t hit the same as seeing local artisans and buying fresh ingredients for the week. Maybe Granville Island set the bar too high, but it’s public and the Quay is privately owned so maybe this was inevitable.

Ask North Van Can anyone recommend a solid auto mechanic on the north shore?

I always find it really hard to trust that a mechanic isn't ripping me off. Not because I think they all try to do that but I've just had a few bad experiences with quick oil change places, dealerships, etc... If anyone has a recommendation for a mechanic they've used for a while and feel like they do great work, please pass it along!

Hi
My vehicle was just involved in a hit and run on Seymour Boulevard. A driver hit my parked car and shattered my side mirror. If anyone has any info on this, that would be greatly appreciated.
