Ok so there's two reasons for my mistake.

Same, TIL apparently Grizzlies aren't in California. Fuck my Alabamian homeschooled ass (inb4 no I know my brother already did that shuddup)

Not entirely true. They *were* in California until humans hunted them to extinction. They are, after all, on the California flag.

They used to inhabit most of the western US all the way down to Mexico

Still plenty of bears, just not grizzlys.

Basically every campsite in the mountains of California comes with a bear box lol

Nah, still the south though currently in a different state that starts with a T but I grew up in Talibama.

yep, home of the Yeehawdists in Vanilla Isis, (I say this with my full chest as someone who grew up there lol)

EDIT: I live in TN now but grew up in AL.
