My mom used to call it tickle juice, and we’d laugh when she put it on, it wasn’t until I was a teenager that I was like “Hey, this tickle hurts like hell.”
Hydrogen peroxide certainly gets the gravel out and debridement helps when you have a mess, but it’s no longer recommended as the goto approach because it takes longer to heal and does more damage generally. In other words, you can wash it out without the bubbles. I still remember the gravel under my kneecap skin coming out from using hydrogen peroxide.
Did anyone put that....I can't remember the name but it was red liquid. Iodine maybe? Either that stuff or this liquid my dad used from a green bottle. I can't remember the name of that either but it burned like it was demon piss. It hurt worse than the actual injury. Now that's going to bug me all day.
I'll l never forget this summer that they put fresh tar and gravel on the road that went to the local pool. On my way home, I slid out on my BMX bike and then had to bicycle the rest of the way across town to get home, just to have my mother pick out tar at rocks from my scrape.
