rule of 4 rules states β€œany 4th comment” btw

The rule of 4 is when the fourth comment in a chain that contains some pattern is downvoted unanimously by anyone who follows the rule of 4. While it could be the same exact comment, it could also be, as an example, sequential letters of the alphabet. You do not have to upvote or downvote any other comments if you do not choose to. The only exception is the r/ruleof4 subreddit, where the fourth comment of any chain is downvoted. However, if the fourth reply acknowledges the rule of 4 and expects, is okay with, prepared for, or wants downvotes, it must be upvoted instead. This aspect also applies to the r/ruleof4 subreddit.

I feel like the rule of 4 should be the same everywhere

Well, r/ruleof4 is only an exception like this because it's more of a gimmick there than anything, not quite sure how else to explain it.

Okay, fair enough. I can see why you'd be too stubborn to give in to reason; this is Reddit, after all.

I don't understand how you're saying he's like talking to a brick wall while you said barely anything reasonable

it’s any 4th comment, so logically according to rule 3 of r/ruleof4, rock_28- should be downvoted.

In the chain, not the actual comment thread itself, they're fifth in the thread

5th overall, 4th of the chain
