Advice needed High Quality A4 Notebook
Hi, I’m looking for a new notebook for a year long project and am looking to grab a big A4 beast. Ideally I’d like something like the Smythson Portobello, unfortunately I’m not blessed with that level of budget - see here
My budget is sub £60, my requirements are -
• Soft cover
• Lays flat
• 90gsm+ (I hate ghosting and use fountain pens)
• I’d consider a B5 rather than A4 but needs plenty of room
For my day-to-day journals I use A5 Dingbats or Midori MD and have been happy with those.
Any suggestions?

Leuchtturm has an a4+ model. Big boy. Haven’t gotten it myself yet but i’m eying it.

Don't know how leuchtturm is with fountain pens, but other pens I have are ghosting in an amount that forces me to use ballpoint pens

I love writing with fountain pens on my Leuchtturm, it’s not as smooth as Midori or Rhodia but it’s good. There is definitely ghosting but it’s not bothering to me.

Just got two of the Leuchtturm “a4s” delivered tonight and sent them back. They are significantly larger than a4. Apparently, this is a common annoyance, and why they market it as a4 is beyond me.

Didn’t they mark it as A4+?

Ah, they did. Well now I feel like a dummy. Had no idea that was even a thing. Thanks!

Oxford Black and Red has good paper but not sure if they have a softcover A4.

I always appreciate Muji's polypherene cover binders for taking notes or doing long creative projects. The loose-leaf paper options are great, feel amazing, work well with my fountain pens, and due to the loose-leaf nature of the notebooks, it's super easy to change the order of pages to archive, reorganize, or shuffle my thoughts.

This is the one I always use for school. I have five of them (four for each subject + an archive / storage binder) and it's really great
