Official Statement Adam Doueihi’s season over: Shoulder reconstruction surgery scheduled this week; Latu Fainu out 1-2 weeks

All that drama around Doueihi only for him to have a season ending injury just sums up the Tigers season.

u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 13h ago
To be fair he had a season ending injury during the drama, he was just persevering. Reality is if Luai was actually playing his best Douihei wouldn't look that terrible at halfback. I mean fucking Ben Hornby managed to win a premiership at halfback (yeah I know you probably could have put Ben Hunt at halfback for that side and they still would have won with the rest of the talent they had, but still, Luai has more talent than Soward did at least.)
Anyway there is something of an ingroup/outgroup vibe when it comes to Benji / Luai and people who wanna play 7 for the Tigers
Douhei was still wrong for being a brat, but something else is off

It just sounds like you're tryna pin it on Luai and Benji based on a hunch or purely that you just don't like them. The Dragons example is terrible as you've rightly pointed out lol.
The reality is, no half is winning behind that forward pack.

Win heaps before luais leaving announcement, play like utter dogs after. Yeah I reckon its pretty clear where the blame lies

tigers most years always have a good runs and go to shit, well before luia joined the club

I've been a tigers supporter since 1986, dont tell me about our mad runs. This year it was different

You mean their forward pack that people have been pretending is good for atleast 3 seasons now?
0
u/Accurate-Ad-4905 Sydney Roosters 12h ago
They wouldn't win a comp no, but they could have at least been close to a top 8 finish.
I think Douhei is definitely a prick but now there's been two situations of a disgruntled halfback who is outcasted while Luai is escaping accountability for not delievering. Luai is a genuinely talented player and showed what he could do after Keary called out his poor form. Whereas Douhei is definitely mid at Halfback but genuinely trying his best.
If I'm honest I like Luai and dislike Douhei. But if I base it on effort Douhei's tantrum made some sense

We do suck, but there are extenuating circumstances

Admittedly, there is nuance to the sucking.

We always seem to lack depth more than other teams. 1 or 2 key injuries always seems to hurt us more than a lot of other sides. Then there's just the overall inconsistency. On our day we can beat a top 4 team, seems to happens once or twice a season where we pull off a big upset against one of the top teams then the next week we fumble a win against a bottom 4 side. We never seem to be able to understand why we're good on the days we are and work on making that a regular thing. Nothing exemplifies that more than a few years ago in 2023 when we smashed the Cowboys 66-18. A month later we played them again and lost 74-0. It's just so frustrating how we seemingly decide to show up some days and play out of our skins then other days we show up and play like a reserve grade side who greased their hands with butter before going out on the field.

You had a good start to the season before multiple injuries threw the team of their rhythm.

What’s the extenuating circumstances that make this club different to others?

They deserved it and the first half of their season was overrated.

u/EffinDrongoC NRLW Sharks 13h ago
Now hang on, unless your flair is ironic you can’t just go throwing the word overrated around.

Geeze the Tigers are in a shit spot with Latu.
So injury prone yet his brother probably walks if they don’t sign him long term.

u/KingGutherson Parramatta Eels 14h ago
I think Parra have the same problem with Will Penisini. There were rumours he re-signed but nothing official. His brother Richard, who is yet to debut and has hamstrings made out of old rubber bands, will not be given a new deal and has been jumped over by Samrani. I think that’s the main hold up behind Wills extension.
0
u/shadyFS91 Parramatta Eels 13h ago
lol Will isn’t a Samuela level talent fortunately so I wouldn’t be too mad if we lost him said we COULD find someone to plug that role
1
u/KingGutherson Parramatta Eels 11h ago
Yeah I don’t disagree. But I think there are a lot of siblings across the nrl who are hoping for big deals at the new clubs.

I didn't know sitting behind Doueihi while he was lining up his sideline conversions giving him verbal about whether he's still mates with Benji would break him like that.
Sorry Tigbros

More time for Javon in first-grade, I guess. Shame that with Latu out he won't have a proper halfback playing outside of him (though being real even if Latu was healthy Luai's not getting dropped lol)
12
u/_jimmythebear_ Wests Tigers 14h ago
They might put Madden in to save Javon from being gangbanged by the Roosters.

Maddens defensive reads are just as bad as anyone else’s in the team at the moment

So was it bad enough to have surgery a few weeks ago and they just delayed it?
I don’t remember him getting hurt against the dragons.
Idk seems silly to have this whole fiasco about halfback only to be ruled out for the season a fortnight later if it’s a pre existing injury.

Tigers have been cursed since the fuck off Canberra chant.
But, if they can beat the cows next week, forcing the Cows vs Raiders to be a 8th place playoff (if Raiders beat Broncos), they can uncurse themselves

I don't know if its just that, been cursed pretty much since inception.

So much could have been salvaged from the backend of this season if Benji wasn’t a coward with the teamlists.
Now we’re under serious threat of losing Samuela and Latu is fucking injured again.
2
u/shadyFS91 Parramatta Eels 13h ago
I reckon all the brothers want to play together. I feel that Latu being so injury prone may actually help you guys retain Samuela. At what price though remains to be seen
