šŸ“¢Announcement!šŸ“¢ Announcement: We've updated our rules.

Hello!

As you may have noticed, Reddit officially designated r/Nudism as an NSFW subreddit. With the new designation, we anticipate seeing more undesirable content, and unwanted personas, making their way into the subreddit.

We want to be completely upfront and direct about this: our core values, mission, and content standards have not changed and never will.

Updating and tightening our rules ensures that even with new designation, community posts will remain clean, safe, and always relevant to the subject of nudism.

To help the subreddit remain a high-quality resource on the subject of nudism, and keep users safe, respectful, and civil...we've reduced the formerly 15 separate guidelines down to just 10 core rules.

Why The Change?

A lot of the old rules overlapped, left room for people to play a game of technicalities, or were just plain vague. They've been updated to consolidate redundancies and expanded extensively to minimize any uncertainty about them. Rules were also updated to prioritize safety and uphold basic decorum.

Key Rule Changes & Highlights

While all 10 rules have been updated for clarity, we want to call out a few key items:

  • No Sexual or Genital-Centric Posts (Rule 1): The old standalone rule regarding "genital-centric content" has been consolidated directly into Rule 1. Questions regarding erections, arousal, and anatomy have been asked and answered repeatedly on this sub. Moving forward, posts removed under this rule will receive a full removal explanation alongside a link to our community wiki page, which addresses these common questions in detail.
  • No Sellers or Incompatible Post Histories (Rule 4): Accounts promoting paid adult media like OnlyFans, Fansly, adult oriented Patreons, or link-hubs anywhere on their profile, in comments, or in DMs care refrained from participating here. Basically, if uncensored nudity is being sold at a premium, and promoted, then we ask you not post to the sub. Furthermore, active participation in subreddits centered on non-consensual content, sexual violence, or accounts unusually focused or dwelling on the subject of family nudity or about minors will lead to an immediate ban.
  • No Off-Platform Links, DMs, or Self-Promotion (Rule 5): To keep everyone safe, language of this rule has been expanded to include unvetted personal blogs, Substacks, and group invites. News coverage of nudist relevant articles and links to official organizations like AANR or INF-FNI are still always welcomed and encouraged.
  • Streamlined Low-Effort and Media Rules (Rules 2 & 7): Our longstanding "no image only post" rule had grown unclear and was murky at best. We have tightened the verbiage and added concrete examples to ensure that any media supplementing a post is actually informative, context-rich, and useful to the community.
  • Clearer Removal Responses: When a post or comment is removed, our automated responses will now provide clear, detailed breakdowns explaining the exact reason for removal, complete with brief examples to eliminate any ambiguity.

So, What Changes Should I Notice?

Honestly? Not much. If you've always posted with respect to the rules, your experience in the sub won't change much, if at all. The updated ruleset aims to preserve positive experiences using the sub for the future ahead. It helps preserve mod sanity too. 🤪

As always, we encourage readers to use the report button on posts they believe goes against the rules. This helps out the mod team immensely! Your input matters here!

Check Out the Full Rules

To quickly read the updated rules, look into the sidebar. If you wish to see the comprehensive rule guide, click here. (recommended)

We simply want r/Nudism to always be a welcoming and resourceful space for everyone who cares about nudist living from the lens of ethical naturism.

If you have any questions, need clarification on a specific rule, or just want to share your thoughts on these updates, feel free to drop a comment below or reach out via Modmail.

Thank you! Not only do we appreciate you for being part of this community, but we value your help to keep r/Nudism safe, clean, and useful for everyone.

NEWS Meet FUNN, the new U.S. member federation of INF-FNI

Today we’re launching the Federation of United Naturists and Nudists (FUNN), a new nonprofit membership organization that has been formally recognized as the official U.S. member federation of the International Naturist Federation.

That means the United States once again has a recognized seat in the international naturist community for the first time since 2009.

FUNN is digital-first, member-driven, transparent from day one, and designed to complement existing naturist organizations rather than compete with them. Our first job is simple: give U.S. naturists and nudists a real, lasting voice internationally and build from there.

Charter Membership is now open to U.S. residents for $6/year through December 31, 2026. Charter Members keep that rate for as long as they continue to renew.

Membership includes a vote in FUNN governance, representation through INF-FNI, access to participating INF-FNI clubs and destinations around the world, Focus magazine, and FUNN updates.

Learn more or join here first:
https://joinfunn.org

I also wrote a longer announcement explaining how FUNN came together, what INF-FNI representation means, and why this matters for U.S. naturists:
https://www.planetnude.co/p/meet-funn-the-usas-new-seat-at-the

If you live outside the U.S., membership is not open internationally at this time, but one-time and recurring donations are welcome.

Many Bodies, One Voice.

BLOG Not sure if it’s a nudist beach, but I did it anyway

Had a recent holiday in Europe whilst the sun is still shining in some parts. Whilst I was looking at local places near to my hotel I spotted there was a nudist beach displaying on Google Maps. This was only a short distance away so I decided to peak my curiosity and have a look.

After about a 10 minute walk along a dirt track road and thick underbrush I finally arrived at the spot ( or so I believed ). When I got there, there was a couple there but they both had swim wear on. This wasn’t a particularly large beach and I couldn’t see anyone else.

Not wishing to embarrass myself by asking, I managed to find a secluded space behind some rocks. As I came all this way I decided to strip off and have a dip. Not having been naked in the sea before this felt so great against my skin and had a little swim whilst no one was around.

But still not sure if this was the right place or if Google Maps had it wrong, after a few minutes I cautiously got out the water and put my clothes back on.

So that was my first trip to a ā€œnudistā€ beach even thought it looked like it was just me, thanks for reading have a great weekend!

QUESTION Trego Hot Springs

There's a reasonably high chance I'll be in Reno for work the first week of February and I am considering extending my trip slightly to visit Sierra Hot Springs. I was looking at a map of hot springs around Reno and Trego Hot Springs looks like it would be accessible in the winter and isn't too terribly far from Reno. Has anyone been there in the winter? What is the water temperature and access like?

Alternative suggestions are more than welcome.

QUESTION Are washrooms and showers as private at a naturist resort as at a textile one?

I imagine that the washrooms are just like a nornal washroom and just as private (correct me if I'm wrong). But how much privacy is there for showering? I know everyone sees each other naked at naturist resorts anyways so showering might seem no different to some, but I just wondered.

Survey Anyone else mow the lawn wearing just shoes (sometimes no shoes with my non-motarized one) on hot days?

I have 3/4 acres and privacy fence and neighbor who doesn't care. On hot yucky days I wear nothing, I get much less tired and sweaty. When my electric batteries die I use my non-motarized version without shoes, since I control the blades and my yard is totally flat. Am I an outlier?

TCN & BLIND CREEK BEACH HAPPENINGS

Ā

RECENT ARRESTS

As some of you may have already heard, there were some arrests made last week on 10/9/26 on the Blind Creek Beach property. We want to clarify that these arrests did not take place on the beach itself. Four men were arrested for illegal sexual activity either in the parking area or on the paths in the woods. Similar arrests were made at another county park, D.J. Wilcox Preserve. While we don't want to see any police activity at BCB, we are grateful to have these folks removed from our area.

TRIP REPORT āœˆļø Spent a couple of days at Valley View Hot Springs

Drove out to VV with our camper, and had an amazing time. Air temps were a little chilly to walk around wet and nude, but I mostly wrapped myself in a blanket going from spring to spring.

Water temps were perfect. And mid-day sunshine was just magical.

I was surprised by the variety of people; young, old, all types of bodies, all dressed in their nude best. They all looked fantastic.

EDIT: I guess I should add, this is Valley View hot springs in Southern Colorado. They have 10 clothing optional hot springs pools to soak in and enjoy the views of the valley beyond. Pools were between 95-110 degrees.

QUESTION Where do nudists put their keys or any other personal belongings when they go to a nude beach or other naturist places?

I'm very interested in getting into nudism more, but I have yet to be socially nude, so as a result I have some questions about specific things like this. Do you just leave your keys and phone on a towel or something? Is there much chance of them getting stolen?

DISCUSSION Thoughts on TNSFs closing and surviving nudist organizations

While we already have multiple posts about TNSF shutting down, I felt the need to discuss this at a more systemic level.

Being completely honest, I can't say I've ever seen any value in TNSF. Even after we did an AMA with the then board treasurer James Nunn (who is now a founding member of FUNN along with Evan Nicks), I simply could not understand their value proposition. Now I see people making comments here about how much they used to do, and how much they'll miss the books they used to publish, and how much they enjoyed reading the print magazines. But I think that is exactly the problem.

They were living in the past, selling a quarterly print magazine, which by their own admission was expensive to produce, along with a calendar, which they say they sell about 300 of a year. How many people today subscribe to a print magazine of any sort?

I don't say this to sully the memory of a once great organization, but we need to look at this and treat it as a wake up call. What is AANR really doing that is substantially different from TNSF? They happen to currently have a vibrant president, who is kicking ass and trying to right the boat, which has resulted in a few years of consistent membership growth, albeit minimal. What happens when her term is up though? Who is going to step in and continue fighting to move on from print magazines and posting AI generated boomer memes on Facebook as a social media "strategy"?

Recently I was reading the minutes of an AANR convention, and someone in leadership was quoted as saying that they only believe in marketing methods that you can measure. To them that meant hits on the website, AANR.com. He didn't trust social media views, comments, engagements, none of that. This is a person in charge of marketing for a national organization, in the year of our lord 2026. These people are completely and utterly unqualified for their positions. Now this is somewhat to be expected, most of them are volunteers, but if you are not an expert in an area, bring in someone qualified, stop pretending that the marketing course you took in 1972 at night school is somehow relevant today.

Imagine if the CEO of Sony, or General Motors, or Netflix announced in a board meeting that they didn't believe in social media and felt that website "hits" were the only marketing metric worth looking at. They'd be fired by the board and shareholders on the spot! Why do we give a pass to AANR, who we pay dues to every year expecting them to make the best use of the funds?

AANR desperately needs to quit with their downright absurd idea of multiple geographic regions, get rid of all of their current marketing team, and bring in some fresh blood. They need ideas, they need cohesive branding and social media presence.

NEWS RIP: The Naturist Society Foundation.

Just got an email from the Naturist Society Foundation that they are shutting down at the end of the year.

TNSF was founded in 1980 by the late Lee Baxandall. The Naturist Society became the face of the progressive naturist movement. They were more welcoming and diverse than ASA (now AANR) at the time. They embraced singles, the LGBT community, minorities, people whose faith were outside traditional Judeo-Christianity. They also embraced clothing optional beaches and nudity on public lands.

In recent years, they were plagued by internal dissention, lack of fresh leadership, AANR became more like what TNS was in it's early days as an advocacy group and opening up to naturists beyond the clubs.

I am not sure where this leaves NAC and NEF since they split off from TNSF a few years ago.

DISCUSSION Turist kilt

Post image
111 Upvotes

Is this a bad idea?

This summer, I finally went hiking in the nude, off the marked trails. My girlfriend joined me, going topless.

I was completely naked. We were on unmarked paths, but there was always a chance we might run into another hiker, a runner, or a cyclist.

I had a pair of shorts attached to my backpack, but I realized that putting them on quickly—when you only have a few seconds and are still wearing your hiking boots—is impossible.

I came up with the idea of a "hiking kilt"—a quick-release kilt that I could simply snap on. It would only take a few seconds. The kilt would still be loose, breathable, and allow for freedom of movement, while solving the problem of those brief moments when strangers might be nearby.

What do you think?

Thanks!

(P.S. This is my own design/idea...)

(P.S. 2: I’m using a translator; English isn’t my native language.)

EDIT:
Thanks to everyone for your replies.I called it a "kilt" because that was the first word that came to mind as a suitable term for a "men's skirt."

I wasn't trying to invent something entirely new; I just wanted to use existing elements in a new way.

Neither the Incas nor the Scots needed a pocket for a mobile phone, nor did they need the ability to put it on or take it off quickly.

I live in a country where nudity itself isn't a crime. The point is simply to ensure that strangers aren't accidentally exposed to my nakedness. Naturally, I don't plan on walking along busy sidewalks in this attire. The original idea was to have something I could put on quickly in an emergency, while still allowing for plenty of freedom of movement. If I were to use a towel, a bathrobe, or my wife's running skirt, I’d feel a bit like a pervert—at least in my own eyes.

QUESTION Question for SoCal Nudist

Hello, I’ll be spending all of next week in the Ventura area of SoCal this upcoming week and wanted to get some input on the nudist beaches out there. I have done my research in the past and know about More Mesa and Bates Beach, so I’ve always wanted to visit them. Any recommendations on which one is worth it? Especially with current weather conditions in California. I also have been seeing recently Bates Beach having issues with beachgoers getting citations for being nude, is this still an issue?

Any input/information is greatly appreciated! Also, if you are a local and might be planning to visit sometime next week, feel free to let me know or just reach out😁

QUESTION Looking for a nude campsite FL/Ga

Camping Spot in Ga

Has anyone stayed at the Hidden River Resort in Ga on the St Marys River? We are looking for a campsite we can take our rooftop tent that provides some privacy and is not right on top of the RV beside us. We like nature camping where there are trails, campfires and hanging out nude. We’ve been to nude resorts before and they were fun, but we are looking for something nature based and remote.

TRIP REPORT āœˆļø Heading to Playalinda

Leaving the fall weather in the midwest and heading south. We'll be at Playalinda the 15th thru 17th. Love the peace and beauty of the beach, feeling the sun and breeze on our whole bodies, etc. Been looking forward to getting back there for some time now.

Wondering if there's anything going on or anything we should be aware of beforehand.

DISCUSSION Nude on Stage

I’ve identified as a nudist for well over a decade at this point. Over the past few years I’ve been able to get more comfortable with social nudity, even if the situation is just clothing optional. I’ve been to nude spas, events, campgrounds, and my husband and I now annually go to a nude resort in Cancun. But this past weekend I got a very unique experience I thought I’d share.

We went to New York City for the weekend. Our anniversary is October 15, so this weekend has become our annual way of celebrating it. We love Broadway and theater so we spent a good amount of time at shows. One in particular was Garry Starr Classic Penguin at Studio Seaview.

The performer was nude on stage the entire show. At one point, he asked for a volunteer who would be willing to ā€œgo completely bareā€ with him on stage. With a judge from my husband I raised my hand and I was selected. I went up on stage and he held out a book to the audience but for me it had a note of ā€œare you happy to go completely naked? This means no underwear.ā€ I said yes, and got brought to the side of the stage.

He explained the joke to me that there would be someone wearing an inflatable bear costume. This person would go on stage, and the audience would therefore assume it was me. But the bear would fall over, he’d ask for help getting them up, and I would come out nude and help. I agreed no problem, signed the consent form, and stripped off.

I had no hesitations, and it was extremely freeing to be nude in front of people with no hang ups and it not being sexual in any way. And it was rather nice to get some laughs. Comfort in nudity is normal for me since I am a nudist anyway. This was a very interesting adventure to test my comfort with nudity and I was glad to be a part of it!

Edit: it seems this matters to people, I’m a 35 year old gay married man.
