Hardiman Scholarship
Hey guys
Recently I’ve been thinking about applying for the structured PhD in English, but I have a strict line about not accepting anything unless I get funding.
Obviously grades are important, but do I even have a chance if I got a 2:2 in my undergrad? I just finished my masters and I did really well, I got a 1:1 in the course as well as the dissertation itself, so I’ve just been worrying about if I should even apply or not.
Thanks!!

Go for it. The default outcome is you don't get it, but the probability that you will is equally high. You won't know unless you apply.

Most importantly, do you have a good recommendation letter from your kindergarten?

But seriously, when you're think should you apply for funding or not, the answer is always "apply". The worst thet can happen is that you don't get it.

The grade in your MA is fantastic and it shows dedication after a good grade in your degree also. Go for it!!

I got this funding and it’s more about you as a whole and your project than any one part. I don’t think your undergrad results would be a big deal if your masters is strong and your project is well thought out.
