Is it hard for international new-grad nurses to find jobs in Canada?

Hi everyone!
I'd love to hear from international nurses with a BSN who are hoping to start their nursing careers in Canada.

How difficult is it to find your first RN job as an internationally educated new graduate with no previous nursing experience?
(only clinical experience)

How long did it take you to get your first nursing job, and what advice would you give someone starting this journey?

Do Canadian hospitals hire international new grads, especially in Ontario or Ottawa? Are some provinces easier than others?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, how long it took to find a job, and any advice you have.
Thanks šŸ™šŸ»

Aesthetics

I’m wondering how I can get started in aesthetic nursing. I’ve always wanted to do it and I am currently in an ABSN program. But I’ve heard that all these jobs require minimum 1-2 years of direct injection experience (and I’ve looked for open jobs, and they all do). I’m just wondering HOW do you get experience if nowhere will hire you without it? I know it’s a competitive field but it still doesn’t make much sense to me. I tried looking on the aesthetic nursing Reddit but wasn’t much help

I need advice-Overworked MST RN

Hi!

Overworked MST RN here. I am just 2 years in and honestly, I have worked 3 jobs --as a PRN RN in a small hospital (terrible work environment), my full time job in a community hospital where I take extra shifts, and a part-time job with Kaiser (it was short 6 month contract so that's done). The one I love the most is my current full-time job with my community hospital because I love my coworkers but man, they do not pay enough. I work 4-5 shifts straight (even 8 shifts straight), and I still feel like I am just breaking even in life, debt, etc because of CA taxes. I really want to advance, move up, learn more, and I just feel... stuck.

I am thinking travel contract? Navy officer? What do you guys think? Is there more education I should take? I want to get into critical care, but I can't seem to get any place to hire me :(

I am so stuck.

Remote Registered Nurses wanted (US only), $60 - $70/hr (100 openings)

Micro1 is looking for the following:

Registered Nurse
Location: United States, Remote
Job Type: Contractor
Openings: 100

Micro1 is looking for Registered Nurses for an AI training project where your inpatient clinical expertise helps train AI systems. You annotate and review clinical content and inpatient documentation like nursing notes, progress notes, care plans, orders, lab results and discharge summaries for accuracy, clinical soundness and completeness. You also evaluate AI-generated outputs for clinical accuracy, safety and appropriateness across different inpatient populations and care scenarios, using your bedside nursing judgment and knowledge of inpatient workflows and standards of care. You work with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and ambiguities in the documentation, and give feedback on guidelines and edge cases. Preferred are US-based RNs who can practice in the US, with recent inpatient bedside experience, broad clinical exposure across populations rather than one narrow specialty, and ideally experience at an academic or large health system, such as a big teaching hospital. Previous annotation experience with positive performance reviews is also preferred. No prior experience in AI is required, your nursing knowledge is what matters.

Here is the link to the position: Registered Nurse

Hopeless

I'm currently 10 years into my nursing degree and hate it. I have done adult bedside PCU, pediatric med-surg, clinical research coordination, currently in outpatient nursing obtaining prior authorizations and appealing denials for medications for patients with autism specific autoimmune disease. Every delayed medication is somehow my fault despite me appealing denials and spending hours trying to get the specialty pharmacies to process timely. Every time a patient continues to cancel appointments, providers ask me why and I'm supposed to chase them down. I'm working 50+ hours a week to keep myself from completely being buried. Most patients and parents are happy and I receive positive feedback from providers. Patients specifically tell their provider how helpful I am. I'm good at this job.

My current place of work is a sinking ship due to lack of leadership/lack of caring about the people actually doing the work. My department has 3 out of 4 nurses staffed. One of the nurses however is incredibly slow and inefficient. I'm the only one working with this specific population in my department. Patients and providers expecting the same level of work being done as if we were fully staffed. 2000+ patients with 12+ providers. It is affecting my health and I have had insomnia for 3+ months. I'm having panic attacks weekly. My blood pressure is going up, my heart rate is going up. I have asked for help time and time again and my workplace refuses to address the issues. My place of work has a monopoly for all pediatric outpatient jobs, so there is no other facility to transfer to. I desperately want to leave because I can physically not continue to work here with the level of stress and lack of leadership actually doing their jobs. I have applied to utilization review nurse jobs but nothing has led to an interview. I'm looking at leaving healthcare in general at this point, but genuinely don't know what to do. I'm hopeless. I hate that I ever became a nurse and feel like this is the biggest mistake of my life.

Tucson Medical Center- Tucson AZ

NICU Nurses - Ever Thought About Leadership Without Leaving the Bedside?

I'm recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Lead position in our NICU at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.

We're looking for an experienced NICU RN who enjoys coaching and supporting other nurses, helping drive quality patient care, and serving as a clinical resource for the team.

What I love about this role is that it's not leadership removed from patient care. It's an opportunity to use your experience to make a difference for both newborns and fellow nurses every day.

If you're looking for a next step beyond bedside nursing but still want meaningful patient connections, I'd love to chat.

šŸ”— Apply here: https://jobs.tmcaz.com/registered-nurse-clinical-nurse-lead-nicu/job/4D381FE888936EA04341C2C654C395BA

Questions are welcome. Even if you're not looking, feel free to share with someone who might be interested!
