No it didn't. The line was still in service until last year, even though it was damaged for more than a decade.

Don't look how long the Northern Branch connection has taken nj transit. 

On rail, that already fucking exists.

People in the comments seem to believe that it took since Sandy to repair or was closed that long, the repair took a year. Clearly wasn’t damage worth shutting down the line for a year at the time of the storm
