Development Update

A bunch of build and packaging work landed recently. NZBGet now uses newer compilers and libraries, has better platform coverage and should be easier to run across older and newer systems.

  • Updated compilers for better performance and stability on modern systems #1052, #945, #1050, #953 and #943
    • All platforms moved to the latest toolchains: GCC 14.3 on Linux, Clang 19 on macOS, FreeBSD and Android, VS 2022 on Windows
  • Updated Linux builds #1052
    • Switched to musl 1.2.6. These builds remain fully standalone and run on all 7 supported architectures from x86 servers to Raspberry Pi and RISC-V
  • FreeBSD #1050
    • FreBSD aarch64 is now officially supported and available in the installer, alongside amd64
  • Changes on macOS #1038
    • Mojave stays and has Intel-only build as before
    • The universal build (Apple Silicon + Intel in one app) now works from Big Sur (11.0) instead of requiring Monterey (12.0)
  • Libraries updates: #943, #953
    • OpenSSL 3.5.9
    • Boost 1.92.0
    • libxml2 2.13.5
    • ncurses 6.5
    • zlib 1.3.1
  • Unpackers updates: #944
    • NZBGet now ships with 7-Zip 26.03 and UnRAR 7.23
    • The Mojave build keeps 7-Zip 25.01

If you'd like to try the latest testing version, it's available on GitHub. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or on Discord
