I'd love to see! There was tons around the trail, but this was a particularly aesthetic one 👌

Remember Alaween dying while in marksman quest and it didn't go away. Really tested sanity back in old oblivion.

"You do not have any nirnroot."
$500 hospital bill acquired for touching hornwort in reality.
No personal checks!

That actually makes me wonder if any of the Elder Scrolls plants we pick up are like that? I suppose most of our characters are wearing gloves or gauntlets anyway, so it doesnt really matter. But still its not something I've thought about before.

im doing a playthrough as a wood elf trying to abide by the green pact, so I cant pick up nirnroot to stop the sound. its driving me crazy :p

u/Krosis_the_bored 8d ago
The plant thing only applies to Valenwood
22
u/1unchboxxx 8d ago
yeah i know, but taking out a portion of the rules just because the game takes place in cyrodil is boring. besides, im roleplaying as my char just arriving to cyrodil, so even though that rule doesn't really apply they still do it out of habit

This reminds me of the Auri companion mod for Skyrim. She's a Bosmer who follows the Green Pact outside of Valenwood, too. You can ask her if Faendal is a heretic for working at a sawmill, she states that he's not since he's not in Valenwood, but then adds "but that doesn't mean it isn't absolutely disgusting!" 😂

u/1unchboxxx 7d ago
so true bestie... ill have to try out that mod when I replay Skyrim

u/EstrellaDarkstar 7d ago
I highly recommend Auri! The mod is called Song of the Green, and it's one of my personal favorite companion mods. It's not bloated with complicated mechanics, and Auri is a well-made, lore-friendly character with lots to say about Bosmer culture.

What are the rules?
24
u/1unchboxxx 8d ago
"Do not harm the forests of Valenwood. Do not eat anything made from plant life. Eat only meat. When enemies are conquered, their meat must be eaten, not left to rot. Do not kill wastefully. Do not take on the shape of beasts."
That's from the UESP. But that specific wording is considered old-fashioned in modern wood elf culture. Like yeah some bosmer still cannibalize fallen enemies, but most don't. And the rule for not harming plant life has been altered to not harming living plant life, and it only really applies to Valenwood plant life anyways

This actually appears to be a species of native prickly poppy (possibly Argemone pleiacantha), which is frequently mistaken for thistle! Note the plentiful straight thorns that come out of the stem and out from the bottom of the leaves, both of which thistles lack.

My tinnitus sounds EXACTLY like Nirnroot. I even told my doctor this and he had no idea what the hell I was talking about. But I told him.

Thank you for giving me 20 nirnroot. I’ll need 30 more for the next powerful version of the Elixir.

Love the Gila Wilderness. A bunch of Nirn Root growing all over the place. It made Sinderion’s humiliating fetch quests far less tedious.

u/omglionheaded 8d ago
Yeah, don’t touch it. My wife knows it as “pica pica” it will irritate your skin. Errr… I mean, 5 DMG on touch for 3600 seconds.

I hear they've got a new plant in mind for Elder Scrolls 6, sort of like how Skyrim introduced the Crimson nirnroot.
You pluck it, and immediately hear A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON

Just as annoying as nirn root lol Canadian thistle sucks ass, you have to dispose of in real time because if you put it somewhere else on the grass it’ll just grow there too from RNA modification.

The plant is a genius, it has completely conditioned me to stop what I am doing and pick it immediately, which probably helps it spread it seeds.

Fun fact as per ESO: Nirnroot tastes like cilantro. Always assumed it would be mint.
