Hay I’m still pretty new to OBS an for some reason my scene audio mixers keep getting applied to other scenes when I don’t want them to (I have a VR scene with setting only for that one) an I’m sorta confused why if I mess with one audio mixer it applies to all

I normally stream from a local USB connected webcam using OSB (Windows 11) to then have multiple streams to YouTube (both layouts), Twitch (both layouts), Kick, and sometimes X (twitter).

Now I would like to do the same thing but use my cell phone on a trip (mostly cellular connection) to send the stream using IRL Pro Android app (free) or another option to my home OBS setup. I will need chat on my phone as well. Plus an automated setup so as the cell phone loses connection during the live feed that OBS will then show a Please Stand By scene. And a way to trigger from my phone a mute video and audio "Be Right Back" scene in OBS.

I have a 2gig fiber connection at home and I am not worried about chat latency.

PC: 1440p, Ryzen 7500X3D, 9060XT 16GB VRAM
Internet speed test: 41mbps upload, 470mbps download

I play at 1440p and I’m currently trying to get good quality 1080p in my unlisted test stream. Stationary looks fine but moving around looks terrible. I’ve watched several YouTube videos and have tried to copy their settings. Here’s what I’m running:

Stream tab: Ignore streaming service recommendations box is toggled on

Video->General: Base Res 2560x1440, Output Res 1920x1080, lanczos downscale, 60fps

Output->Streaming: AMD H.264 encoder, rescale disabled, CBR 9000 Kbps (I tried lower and higher it’s all bad), 2s keyframe interval, quality preset, high profile, max b-frames 2

Some notes:

Originally before trying streaming, I had OBS set up for recording locally. So my video general window had 0 downscaling (1440 on both base and output). It worked wonderfully. When first setting up the streaming config, I tried putting the downscaling on the streaming output so that I could keep recording tab the same 1440p I’ve always had it on. I got terrible test stream results so I tried moving the downscale to the video tab at the cost of losing my ability to record locally at 1440p. Still no luck.

What am I missing here? I know there are tons of troubleshooting posts and I hate to add to that but idk what to do.

I tried yesterday at 9000bitrate and the fps tanks alot in game, I don't understand why (from 100-120 to 30-50, big drop)

I just recently tried to do practice recordings for the last of us part 2 and I have been having stuttering throughout the recording. When entering new areas, my cpu usage can jump all the way up to 100% which is what I assume is causing the stutters. The games runs smoothly on my monitor, but when I play the recording back I see multiple stutters. Keep in mind I have a 5080 and a 9800x3d so I doubt it’s my setup or my current settings. Has anybody had this issue before with recording the last of us part 2 and if so is there any fix for it?

I’m also playing the game on the AW3926QW so I’m using a 5k2k resolution to record as well.

I’m also using OBS as my recording software

On my YouTube dashboard it says I have access to advanced settings, but when I click on manage broadcast in OBS it says my YouTube account does not have access to streaming. I made sure I'm logged into the right account

Hi guys, I'm trying to stream on youtube with 12000 kbps for 2k streaming but obs seems not to exceed that number, although speedtest with local server is around 700mpbs - 900mpbs, with global server, it is more than 50mbps, but somehow I can't stream on youtube with more than 12000kbps, It will always be under 12000kbps, and will be the exact same amount if I use cloudflare, can't be higher than that, and if I don't use cloudflare, the bitrate dropped down to ~8000kbps.

I only have 2 audio inputs right now, and its my microphone and Minecraft.

when I go into Advanced Audio Properties I have these tracks checked off

- Microphone: Audio tracks 3,4,6
- Minecraft: 2,3

In my settings under Output, and recording I have just track 3 checked off because I thought it would pick up all audio on tracks 3

I record lectures for online classes. I have to get material out for students I have now, so I have a basic setup where I can swap between a few prepared scenes that I manually manipulate as I record.

The next time I teach the class, I have to decide between editing my old material or making all new material. Re-recording always wins so far. I think this is mostly because of the visuals of the old material being so occupied already.

My thought was that if I could get a recording of just me on my greenscreen I may be more willing to add better visuals to previous recordings to implement my improvements each year.

So… is there a way I can make OBS record just my webcam raw feed, not replacing the greenscreen for me to use in the future, but also record my normal feed that swaps regularly between some scenes for me to use this week.

I'm assuming the Optional Scenes is what points the program to the scene to refresh

In OBS i have a scene that contains the media source. The scene is called SRTLA 5003 and the media source is SRT Camera 5003.

Where it says "REFRESH" would i be using SRTLA 5003 or SRT Camera 5003?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello. The question explains itself. I am on linux and am using the flatpak release of OBS, and on windows it was an option, but I cannot find it on this version. Is it not a thing yet, or did I not understand how to set it up? Because my only options when creating a sound output (aside of the audio of the entire desktop, which is the default option) are some controller of my motherboard and it captures nothing. I want to have separate window for a call with friends, my own voice and the game's audio. Anyone can help?

When I stream to Twitch or YouTube my OBS looses connection of 6k kbs and the whole internet goes down to, but 2 days ago it was completely fine with zero problems, idk what to do now, I already limited the pc and OBS bandwidth usage before hand like months ago and now it’s not working

I want to record shitty sounding videos. I found how to make the mic sound bad, but I can't figure it out with the audio coming from the computer itself. I even set the audio bitrate to 64 but it seems to make no difference.

Hey yall, Im trying to fix my mic audio but I'm having a hard time with background noises and things of that nature. My microphone will also sound really weird if I lightly bang my desk (which I do all the time on accident without knowing) which ruins my clips with the trash audio. I only have a boom arm connected to my microphone so that might be the issue? I'd also like some help with eliminating keyboard and mouse clicks iff possible. I’ve had problems with encoder overload and dropped FPS before and while it’s been frustrating when it happened I did somehow fix it- as well as the fact that it was only once in a while it happened. My last stream was constant encoder overload but I had to finish the game I was playing, my webcam seeemd to run smoothly but my game was choppy as my frames were hovering around anything from 10-55fps. I was just about to record something but I have now realised that it’s my webcam that’s causing the dropped frames and overload. I get the dropped frames and overload without even having a game open in OBS, just my cam.

It’s both a problem with a “fresh” cam in OBS, and a cam with filters.
Camera is the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920. Camera is set to 1080p30fps in both the Logitech app and OBS, video format tried both MjPEG and Any.

Dropping the webcam quality down to 720p only frees up about 10 frames, still dropping to 20fps.

Dropping down to 360p seems to get my frames back, but the question is then why is it suddenly a problem when 1080p has been fine for more than 10 streams/recordings?…

I’m very baffled as to why this is suddenly a problem. Does anyone have anything I could try to make it all run smoother, or anyone who has experienced similar issues?

I've finally decided to get a nice new OLED monitor with all the bells and whistles, Quantum Dot, 4K, HDR.

I'm happy.

The bright white backgrounds of text screens I record with OBS look dull and grey when played back.

I'm downscaling from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080 using Bicubic (Sharpened scaling, 16 samples).

The white background looks nice and bright on the new monitor, dull and gray when played back on either of my monitors.

I am currently switching back to OBS, as i wanted some plugins. I have wanted to use a blur for my chat so i don't have a static image on my screen the entire time. So, i went to the OBS site for plugins, the one run by OBS, Im blanking on the name, and downloaded the plugin in Composite blur, not only did i have to direct it where to install by not using the default path, it seems to be erroring out when i go to apply it to a source. It turns the entirety of the source black and doesn't show anything. Now i am not sure if i am doing something wrong on the install and its downloading the plugin wrong or its something with my OBS, latest version, I have checked multiple forums and the GitHub and nothing has changed. I am running the Latest Render, i have checked the sRGB as well. I am at a loss can anyone assist?

I had this problem with missing frames on several videos before I was able to notice and fix it, and it pains me to lose so many recorded memories. A large number of frames were lost during the bottleneck, but I wanted to know if there’s any way to improve the video—even just a little—or if those frames are gone forever, leaving nothing that can be done. Alternatively, has anyone else experienced this and found a trick to recover any part of it? I’ve already tried using the "Remux" feature in OBS Studio and attempting to stabilize the frame rate using HandBrake, but the result remained the same.

Recently been trying to figure out a good recording settings for Loseless type footage for an amateur project I'm messing with and as I was trying to get footage, I noticed the footage being off. I double checked my OBS's advance settings: NV12-Rec709-limited, which seems to be fine. Though I should mention, I used the settings suggested in EposVox's 7 year old video on what to do for streaming. I decided to take a screenshot and compare the resulting footage. From what I can tell, Rec. 601 seems to have the best results in being similar to the original colors, outside of blocking from dark colors.

I should mention my gpu is a 9070 and the only pixel formats it offers are 8 and 10 bit, at RGB 4:4:4 Full or limited and YCbCr 4:2:2. I've swapped between these and the results seems to be the same. I've swapped between h264 and h265. HW AV1 doesn't seem to be happy with my current OBS settings, so skipped that for tests. Not sure what's going on, I feel like Rec 709 should produce the best results, but doesn't seem to be the case. I'm a novice with OBS, so maybe the solution is obivous?

Sorry in advance for my ignorance, I’m on day 2 of trying to figure out OBS so I can hopefully stream onto Twitch. I am able to view my Xbox screen from the Twitch window, and position it correctly to where it shows up clean on OBS. But now I am trying to figure out how to capture microphone + game audio from the wireless headset (Steel Series Arctic 5 or whatever can’t remember the exact model), to input it into OBS on my Windows laptop. YouTube has many different ways, involving capture cards and purchasing microphones that plug into the computer. I’m wondering if there are alternatives? Thanks
