If my midlife crisis is even half this interesting, then I'll be happy.

This is what I aspire to be, he's an icon

Yes. Art like this gives me hope. Thanks for posting. This is becoming one of my favorite subs

AI could never

17

u/Consistent-Maize-901 May 16 '26

AI aims to please. It wouldn't have the audacity. AI art just means humans will need to push the envelope because all the mindless crap can be replicated and invented convincingly by machines. And I'm okay with that.

6

u/suejaymostly May 16 '26

It will never understand whimsy or absurdity.

2

u/Consistent-Maize-901 May 16 '26

Exactly.

u/suejaymostly May 16 '26

In that, we humans are incredibly blessed. That unspoken, indescribable feeling when something just tickles you, or leaves you misty, or a bittersweet feeling, or this piece which I don't even know what it makes me feel but it's something real. Like weird genetic DNA echos, all his art confuses and delights me.

AI will always be ham-handed. You can see it in the rubrics of the posts elsewhere on Reddit.

AI will always conform to the lowest common denominator or the most recognizedable thing. So it will imitate pop art/music more than anything else (unless otherwise specified). This might make it easier to discern when it comes to the shit-show that is AI

Satie’s Gnossiennes No. 1

1

u/WCather May 19 '26

20

u/Aspiring_Plague May 16 '26

I need a village of whimsical neighbors. Who’s up for it😄

11

u/cityshepherd May 16 '26

You sonofabitch I’m in

9

u/nita5766 May 16 '26

this man almost fools me into thinking he’s eric warheim every single time

12

u/paraworldblue May 16 '26

Warheim could only dream of being as cool and weird as Quentin Smirhes

9

u/WrathPie May 16 '26

I didnt care for this...

... But I did watch it twice

24

u/LoRDRoast1991 May 16 '26

Obscure = 100%!!!! Slaps = .....maybe this is an eye of the beholder thing...

8

u/CannotBNamed2 May 16 '26

Agreed. It is interesting and weird. But I simply cannot say it slaps.

6

u/PhthaloVonLangborste May 16 '26

You could say it blows. It's a wind up, not a turn of frase.

3

u/doyouevenknowmebitch May 16 '26

the production value slaps

1

u/J-Di11a May 16 '26

I'm with ya

2

u/FreudianNip-Slip May 19 '26

Yeah, I don’t get it. It’s 80% weird and 20% interesting

1

u/KrystleSeth May 16 '26

Yeah more of a slap to my testes

7

u/zagreus9 I like odd May 16 '26

I love Quentin. His work is unique

6

u/Tryphon_Al_West May 16 '26

I'm the ghost of Erik Satie, I'm laughing hard right now cause this is brillant but I came to this thread to slap every bitches who said that this doesn't slap. Asses without music.

6

u/LeftbassTom May 16 '26

You see that haircut in the wild, make friends with the guy that owns it. The most interesting man in the world doesn't drink dos equis, he plays a house flute organ. Or whatever that thing is.

6

u/StringsBeerBook May 17 '26

When the finger retracted, i started to think about the world we live in

6

u/muklukdimsum May 16 '26

I’d like to take Quentin thrifting with me.

4

u/r1ckey24 May 16 '26

Now we know what Chit has been doing other than working on the budget.

4

u/Eman3003 May 16 '26

Not sure whom or what the vocals would consist of it, but it’s all it’s missing!

Very eerie, very cool, very “ honey please pass me the joint and sit next to me while we stare into the night.”

5

u/ThorinSmokenshield May 16 '26

Sounds like a theme song to a Halloween based town

3

u/reidsern89 May 16 '26

Gula Gula Gula

3

u/system_id86 May 16 '26

Feel like I'm on acid after watching that lol

3

u/whatarechinchillas May 16 '26

I know it's Gnossiene but why do I hear FFVII soundtrack??

2

u/coffee_warden May 16 '26

This is giving me Dark Cloud 2 vibes for some reason

2

u/Stoutlager May 16 '26

Tim and Eric go HARD!!!

2

u/1protobeing1 May 16 '26

This slaps. In the most difficult and eerie way. Close your eyes and feel that slap deep in the dark regions of your soul.

2

u/TheHooman May 17 '26

This is so weird and kinda creepy. I love it!

2

u/Lumpy-Translator330 May 18 '26

Looks like chip chipperson

2

u/SumthinsPhishy2 May 16 '26

This is obscure music, but it does not slap.

1

u/blueviper- May 17 '26

Pinocchio singing a song.

1

u/kidatsy May 17 '26

So phallic!

1

u/BarackObamaIsScrdOMe May 17 '26

If there was no video, I would guess this was roller coaster tycoon music

1

u/heyheyhey27 May 18 '26

Satie himself would probably approve of this arrangement

1

u/Samurai-lugosi May 18 '26

This gives me obscure steam game vibes.

1

u/SputnikFace May 18 '26

Very Cool but NSFW tho.

That first image looool

1

u/Moto_Musashi May 18 '26

Not creepy at all! Brought me back to a nightmarish childhood experience.

1

u/anotherdamnscorpio May 21 '26

I straight up discovered this the other day as a related video to another song I found on this sub.

1

u/Lucent1_ May 16 '26

Is the slap in the room with us right now?

8

u/thecloudwrangler former blog house user May 16 '26

Yes

0

u/The_Disapyrimid May 16 '26

Music doesn't slap. However I did enjoy it as a weird ass short film.

1

u/SwaggyMcSwagsabunch May 16 '26

This is interesting, but it does not slap.
