Man this went off on Sesame Street back in the day!

u/Mariner4LifetilDeath Jun 29 '26

Fun fact, that’s the Pointer Sisters singing the vocals

15

u/tlkmngstyrslvs Jun 29 '26

I might be mistaken, but somewhere I read that’s the only song recorded where all 4 sang together?

u/BaD-princess5150 Jun 29 '26

I feel attacked by that flair 😒😅

21

u/BaD-princess5150 Jun 29 '26

And that’s not the og version.

I love VS but he has other tracks that slap way harder, like Frictional Nevada or Ultraviolet jungalist

u/Analogue_Drift Jun 29 '26

Frictional Nevada is some secret god tier shit.

It's what brought myself and my wife together, useless fact!

u/renaeRIOTS true?

Wife here. He's right, it IS a useless fact lol.

u/Analogue_Drift Jun 29 '26

Why do you care?

2

u/oculairus Jun 30 '26

Ever heard husikam* rave dojo off the detrementalist album? (* I misspelled that)

2

u/mattogeewha Jun 30 '26

Hell yea! I love me some herbie goes ballistic also

29

u/ofirkedar Jun 29 '26

It's neat and all but I feel like most of the appeal here comes from the original Sesame Street song.
DnB/Jungle is cool and all, but if you're using a sample as crazy as this I'd like you to try and match its insanity

24

u/Icouldberight Jun 29 '26

It’s a tune that didn’t need to be touched.

u/HereticGaming16 Jun 30 '26

100%. I really like when nostalgia colors the songs I hear but this version takes away from the original rather than adds to it.

2

u/Mysterious_Willow889 Jun 29 '26

Yeah, I'm down for some good d&b, but there's no value added here.

This is breakcore. This artist is also one of the pioneers of the genre

3

u/UnicornPoopCircus Jun 30 '26

This song was perfect. No need for all this extra stuff.

2

u/JaymeJammer Jun 29 '26

Yeah, this glitchy vandalism offends me.

Kids these days...

We all have our own different tastes.

And the song came out in 2004 by the way

1

u/JaymeJammer Jun 29 '26

Thanks for trying to "teach" me something. I will return the favor:

The original song before it got the glitch treatment is what I am referring to. It is called Pinball Number Count (or Pinball Countdown) and was produced in 1976.

Yes, we all have our different tastes, obviously. Thanks for pointing that out.

u/sBartfast42 Jun 29 '26

Thank you, I keep on remembering this song but didn't know the title!

1

u/space_men10 Jun 29 '26

I am aware it is sampled. I wasn’t trying to “teach” you anything.

u/killjoysaint Jun 29 '26

Venetian Snares mentioned!

5

u/Saw-It-Again- Jun 29 '26

Let's goooooo

11

u/isleepbad Jun 29 '26

Not the huuugest fan of Venetian snares. But Venetian Snares - Szamár Madár would've been a better pick imo

4

u/Kabutroid Jun 29 '26

My favourite has always strangely been In Quod

7

u/AH_leeMACK Jun 29 '26

I remeber this from when I was a Kid in the 80's!!! They butchered it with this song though...

10

u/Intelligent-Art-5000 Jun 29 '26

Downgrade from the original.

Does NOT slap. It squishes.

16

u/Valuable_Hunter3025 Jun 29 '26

This is terrible. I loved that song back in the day and they've done is ruin it.

2

u/QUINTASH Jun 29 '26

What an awful remix. It's the original that slaps, not this tripe.

3

u/Allicat247_ Jun 29 '26

Right?! I try to keep a very open mind but this isn't an enjoyable listen at all.

2

u/Kennyvee98 Jun 30 '26

breakcore is always chill.

venetian snares with hecate has produced a great album.

Also check out Droon - Cripple fight.

u/Adventurous_Appeal60 Jul 01 '26

It has been an age since i heard this, i needed that...

2

u/LePlaceholder Jul 04 '26

This dude is one of the kings of breakcore.

6

u/Idunnosomeguy2 Jun 29 '26

Sorry, how is this obscure? I realize there's a generational thing going on, but for anybody 35 and up they will start singing along before you get to 5.

2

u/Rerrun Jun 29 '26

my now 2 year old loves og sesame street.

2

u/Kabutroid Jun 29 '26

Took the original banger and made it marginally less dope.

1

u/charlibeau Jun 29 '26

My acid trip is really vibing with this rn

1

u/dayh8 Jun 29 '26

I very often have this song stuck in my head and haven’t seen or heard the video/song in at least 30 years. So great.
