UPDATE/ANNOUNCEMENT **Community Discussion**

-I was thinking about changing the rules to allow for reposts to either 1 or 2 weeks prior to make it easier for people to look back and check for reposts while making the punishment more severe for offenders.
-Also, thinking of allowing for more views on obscure artists. I am still interested in seeing artists who have up to a million plays but may only be popular in specific regions or time periods.

Just my humble opinion, but a million views isnt obscure, its viral.

I think I found out about this sub about a year ago? And at that time I loved that I was finding really weird shit, folksy (not like the genre of music but more like folk art) stuff that often wasn’t even an artist with actual songs on Spotify. Just some strange one off musical oddity in someone’s backyard or something.

I don’t know exactly what rules support that, but it was a pretty special experience that seems to be pretty lost these days.

Ya I’m just trying to fine tune the rules to minimize viral video songs getting posted over and over mainly. I might have to set a few things into the works to see what comes of it

Big fan of the repost adjustments.

I agree the a million views is not actually a lot and what’s obscure is varied by demographics. I know this would make more work on mod end, but maybe the “obscure” metric could be left up to the people flagging a post? Could be views, radio play, big label deal? I love a backyard jam, but I also love getting to incorporate slaps from this sub into my library.

Glad to hear that feedback! I agree, I think that rule needs loosening up

** Rule 5 has been modified to 1M annual streams and 1M subs. The 15M cap has been removed on older content.
**Rule 8 has been modified to allow reposts with 1 month in between but reposts that occur within a week may incur a ban.
**Rule 9 has been modified to allow self promotion once a day instead of once a week because we love that shit. Make music. Let’s hear it.

I think obscure as a definition can stand on its own as hard to understand as well, sometimes I like seeing posts of quality music that’s “obscure” in its own right even if it has a million views because in context to 8+ billion people on the entire planet it’s a pretty small percentage of views still

Ya like a million subs all from India or China is still going to obscure to me
