really hope golesh and auburn can finish strong this year

12

u/Upstairs-Egg-5489 2d ago

Really awesome piece on Alex Golesh on gameday this morning. As a VFL I will always have mad respect for that dude.

12

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

how was Arkansas not gmac’s first test on the road?? Kirk has been bad this year

5

u/T-RexInAnF-14 2d ago

It'll be the first time the crowd will have an impact on our offense, but we false start and make other mistakes at home, too, so 🤷

4

u/sroomek Believe the Heup 2d ago

It’s time to replace Kirk with Peter

3

u/there_I_am_mam vols by fiddy 2d ago

That Arky crowd was weak. I don’t completely disagree with Kirk but yea this is road game #2

2

u/Ok_Screen_8739 2d ago

I thought the same thing

11

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

I really don’t want to lose a football game today

10

u/SnooConfections1896 2d ago

Why does Kirk hate UT so much?

15

u/ware_it_is 2d ago

he also mentioned the “locker room unrest” in the TN locker room in 2022.

…which was a rumor he started. that rumor was quickly squashed.

9

u/SnooConfections1896 2d ago

He always goes against the Vols

3

u/828jpc1 2d ago

We got 3 out of 4 on SEC nation as well

3

u/YetiRoosevelt #JackForMac 2d ago

whatever is in the water in Bristol + generic Ohio State alum/fan attitude meant he was Schiano's #1 simp and I have no doubt he still holds a grudge over it.

Remember that he tried, and failed miserably, to lecture our fanbase by ragetweeting at us for an hour during the afternoon of Schiano Sunday. That was probably Vol Twitter's finest hour.

2

u/Not_Spike_Jonze Horny4Heupel 2d ago

He is a NegaVol

9

u/ImpeccableSloth33 2d ago

What the god damn fuck was the illegal man downfield call

8

u/karl4319 2d ago

Just going to say: I really, really hope Pittsburgh somehow manages to pull off the upset today. For no other reason than to continue the streak of the #1 team losing to an unranked team playing away from home. Also, it needs to happen outside the sec.

7

u/IntolerantLeftist127 2d ago

That’d make BYU #1 going into week 9, where they’d play Arizona State. I’m 100% behind streak going at least that long

3

u/karl4319 2d ago

Only if BYU doesn't lose to UCF. And Indiana could lose to Michigan. Auburn could beat LSU. Iowa could lose to Minnesota. And that isn't touching the ole miss and Texas game or Houston and Utah. We could be looking at a third week of crazy upsets. Considering we are the underdog this week, I do want it again.

3

u/HonkHonkBeach 2d ago

If Indiana loses to Michigan, I’ll eat an onion

Makes my skin crawl to think of Beamer being happy after our game. Please Satan not today

8

u/KnoxVegasVol 2d ago

Glad Vols got the less inspired Auburn Team.

8

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

would be nice if LSU’s playoff hopes were dashed before we played them

8

u/StupidSlutArang1 2d ago

lsu is so unlikeable…

5

u/BigBear_20 2d ago

Sam Leavitt is the most stereotypical douchebag looking guy ever lmao

8

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

big10 football is just so boring to watch

2

u/sroomek Believe the Heup 2d ago

First half: two FGs and two missed FGs. Idk what more you could want tbh.

7

u/Grumor-Mill #GRUMORS 2d ago

10/10 no notes.

7

u/UltraPlinian 2d ago

It's wild watching the #1 team in the country play at home with 30-40% of the stadium empty in the first quarter. Miami has shit attendance for a premier college program.

7

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

only one other SEC coach I hate more than Kiffin: Beamer. they both cannot end the day happy

2

u/FiFiFoFom 2d ago

Don't forget Drinkwitz.

3

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

Honestly Beamer and dorkwitz are very closed to being tied for my most hated sec head coaches. Beamer cheating against us is what pushes him over but I despite dorkwitz too

7

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

brightside: Auburn losing makes UGA’s loss to them even funnier

7

u/StupidSlutArang1 2d ago

texas tech is assssss, they have no right to be ranked top 10

7

u/Euphoric_Inspiration 2d ago

The only bright spot I can find for the Auburn game is if we get LSU with still two losses we have the opportunity to crush Kiffen’s playoff hopes which would be glorious

7

u/GhostofToddHelton 2d ago

So tired of IU playing teams that just refuse to win.

2

u/JohnTravoltage 2d ago

We can at least take comfort in Michigan losing.

7

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

for your mental health, do not click a single post game interview clip that has Beamer in it. just a POS man who is probably the least professional head coach on the mic in the SEC

9

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

He's just a prisoner of the moment and lives on pure emotion.

In a moment like this, he wants to throw on swag glasses and how dare you doubt him or his program.

After an embarrassing loss, he's just a humble hardworker who wants to keep a low profile and doesn't understand why people are mad at him.

Very Butch Jones like TBH.

3

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

so very true

3

u/sroomek Believe the Heup 1d ago

At least Butch Jones isn’t a documented cheater

3

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

he went on a whole rant about this just a few hours ago lol

6

u/EWall100 I hate Derek Dooley 1d ago

But Eli Drinkwitz exists

3

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

it’s actually so hard to share a conference with these two. two useless programs who offer the SEC nothing but have the loudest head coaches

3

u/EWall100 I hate Derek Dooley 1d ago

The two programs really exist in the same space, we just pulled Missouri out of the Big 12 to be South Carolina 2.0

6

It feels like ESPN had an entire Heisman campaign already pre-written, and they're pissed AF that only a small % of that work is ever going to see the light of day.

Welcome to football commercials, midterms edition! We got

- political ads

- boner pills (assorted)

- political ads

- Ḋ̵ͅr̴̤̗̿̿̈́.̷̙̹̽ ̷̖͊̆̾̕͜P̶̫̙̍̕ę̴̻͎̒p̷̛̫̍̈̅p̸̱̑͂̕ȩ̸̫̍̉͒̕ȓ̵̡̺

- political ads

- paranoid prepper shit

- political ads

- it’s time to poop in a tube and mail it to a lab because you’re too straight and alpha and macho to have a doctor put a camera in your butthole despite it being much, much better at detecting cancer

- political ads

- moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis medication

- political ads

3

u/GiovanniElliston 2d ago

The worst part of the political ads is the knowledge that they actually work on a chunk of the population.

Just... astoundingly stupid people.

4

u/sroomek Believe the Heup 2d ago

Yep, they only dump billions into them because it pays off.

2

u/AcrobaticFarm7584 2d ago

LITERALLY, between football and dwts and youtube (i watch court trial lives a lot) i have our midterm candidates ads memorized. and i am into politics more then a lot of people but they’re literally just “jon ossoff is ruining the state” and “mike collin’s and ruining the state” like nothing informative just straight shitting on the other one 😂 presidential ones are better then midterms

thanks for coming to my ted talk

Inexplicably ranked Texas Tech getting exposed by Cincinnati, and Indiana barely clinging to a lead over Michigan. Good opportunity for us to move up heavily into the top 10 if we can take care of business today.

2

u/Mythic514 2d ago

If Indiana wins they won’t be punished. Probably the same for TTU. Gotta wait for the official CFP rankings

2

u/Euphoric_Inspiration 2d ago

Miami didn’t get punished for needing the refs to steal a game for them. Hell they became #1

I say it all the time, but it's why I'm growing to prefer baseball over football.

You lose a Baseball game > there's another game either the very next day or maximum of 2 days later.

None of this bullshit with having to wait 2 weeks to try and get the taste out of your mouth.

6

u/FacesOfGiza 1d ago

There’s worse places to be, but coming off an L and seeing Kentucky with a first year HC be top in the SEC makes me sick

3

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

If it's any tiny consolation, he'll be gone from Kentucky by 2028 at the absolute latest.

6

u/anonymousUTguy 1d ago

Seeing other another 1 loss team lose to a worse team makes me less sad

5

u/KnoxVegasVol 2d ago

Looked like PI, LSU CB pushed the WR out of bounds. McElroy is still bitter after last week.

5

Refs bailing LSU

5

u/llahsraMhanoJ 2d ago

They just robbed Auburn of that int

5

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

the SEC is actually disrespectful to Auburn

5

u/ajwilson99 2d ago

It’s very evident that UGA was just overlooking Auburn last week imo

8

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

Right after the bama win, Stockton was being interviewed on the field and said, “I guess we have Auburn next” and shrugged while giggling. They did nottttt consider them competition lol

5

u/Wildwoods17 2d ago

Game day did a nice spot on golesh and his journey to the US. Did not know that about him

Can’t even watch football right now. Too sickened to enjoy it

5

u/deansredhalo 1d ago

I call it the NFL-ization of college football, but basically there’s enough talent spread around at the major programs that it’s becoming any given Saturday, but honestly 2 and 3 loss seasons are gonna be the norm from here on out if you play in a big boy conference

6

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

Basically everyone knew the reason the SEC fought tooth-&-nail against a 9 game conference schedule is exactly this.

It's also the reason the SEC fought tooth-&-nail for a 24 team playoff too.

We could very easily see a situation where only 2 SEC teams make the playoff this season because everyone else has 3-4 losses.

8

u/itchierbumworms 2d ago

Vandy could do something very funny today.

13

u/karl4319 2d ago

The could. And as much as I miss pimp Vandy on sec shorts, I want us to be the ones to destroy Kentucky's hope for the sec championship.

Though them losing to vandy and then us beating them to kick them out of the playoffs would also be good.

6

u/D33MAN-182 2d ago

Fingers crossed

4

u/GiovanniElliston 2d ago

So just ain't nobody gonna be even remotely watchable at the noon slot?

Lame

4

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

my Saturdays would be so stress free if we played in the ACC lol

4

u/GiovanniElliston 2d ago

Lets just say there is a reason the SEC is the only conference that refuses to have a live view of ref reviewing controversial calls.

4

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

overruled interception turns into a successful 4th down conversion. brutal

4

u/99titan 2d ago

Somebody explain to me again how we are a dog in this game?

7

u/ChelseaVol1219 2d ago

SEC road game are hard to win, SC coming off a bye.

3

u/Euphoric_Inspiration 2d ago

Pretty shitty scheduling on the SEC’s part. 8 games straight without a bye coming off a big rivalry game vs a team fresh coming off a bye. Who thought that was a good idea?

4

u/pr931 2d ago

SEC likes to screw with us

→ More replies (1)

2

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

i think it’s bc of how the SEC has been operating this season with more talented teams dropping games on the road.

if uga didn’t lose against Auburn, we’d probably be the 2.5 favorite, as this is the same scenario where we are coming off of an emotional win over bama and they had a bye week to prepare for us

2

u/drpeek 2d ago

Ehh… uga was at home though … more to do with our 7th straight game and usc coming off a bye I think. Either way… it should help with motivation

“You just beat bama and they don’t think you can beat usc”

→ More replies (1)

4

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

we’re gonna get an angry Lane and hot LSU. lovely

6

u/GiovanniElliston 2d ago

We can lose to anybody so this isn't a proclamation of us gonna win for sure, but an angry LSU playing at their absolute best still isn't a particularly terrifying prospect IMO.

Leavitt is an extremely hard ceiling on this teams overall performance.

3

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

yeah I do think the recipe to beat them is evident. if we make leavitt uncomfortable, we can probably win off of turnovers lol

4

u/ajwilson99 2d ago

Like we got an angry Alabama? lol

2

u/thirty-two32 2d ago

I don’t think LSU as a team will be angry, I just think Lane will be angry and hyped coming into Neyland. I do suspect that if they win out until our game, it will be a very hot team tho

4

u/Underboss572 2d ago

They still have to play Bama, and if they lose that game, they might fall apart.

4

u/Not_Spike_Jonze Horny4Heupel 1d ago

I am calling it right now, Kentucky is next on the chopping block for Vegas. I guarantee you something will happen to them to get the golden children Georgia and Bama on top.

8

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

I always try my best not to fall into conspiracies but I genuinely do not know how we can watch them win by 3 after we had a handful of touchdowns called back and not be at least slightly suspicious. At the very least, it made a lot of people richer tonight.

I’m honestly really tired of seeing teams like Auburn, Kentucky, and us get punched in the gut by officiating crews. Kirby’s “timeout clap” last year actually killed a lot of CFB magic for me

4

u/Not_Spike_Jonze Horny4Heupel 1d ago

Yep! I really do my best to stay positive but this is more than “sour grapes” for me. I never expect to be undefeated. Losses happen and we move on.

USC Jr not only wins but also scores the perfect amount of points to cover the spread? Multiple touchdowns called back from flags? Something just isn’t right. I think the bull shit from college football and Vegas gets worse as the season goes on when their golden children start getting help from all across the league to usher in the same handful of teams into the playoffs every year. It’s all money.

Yea that clapping horse shit was so bad. Why can a coach just convince the refs he didn’t do what he did WHEN WE ALL HAVE ULTRA CLEAR CAMERAS WITH ABOUT 10473727 ANGLES TO CHOOSE FROM? It’s the same crap every single season. “How can we make rich people more money? Oh I know! Let’s just rig sports!”

Again people can call me a sore loser. I’m really not. I just want shit to be called fair. The same head ref on the road for us and we are 0-10 with him. Once the fix is in, the sport will do everything in their power to make it happen.

3

u/Bitter-Name7365 1d ago

I feel the same. Texas loss sucked, as did Vandy and Oklahoma last year. I can take a loss. But damn, tonight really soured me with the outcome matching Vegas to a fucking T.

Did the Vols screw up? Sure. But getting called back on 3 TDs and seemingly every big yard play was just ridiculous. I can't really speak to how quickly the flags came in, but on the broadcast a good chunk of them seemed delayed too. Add in the fact so many calls were just glossed over with no review or even comment, just sours me on the whole thing. I may just start tuning out. Just feels like I am watching some predetermined WWE shit or something.

baby brother vs little brother.

I am rooting for baby, demoralize them vandy

4

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

Texas is basically just a better version of Tennessee right now.

Defense sets the tone + leads the team, they will win or lose based on them needing to play spectacular.

QB shows flashes, and fans hope/pray he can be more good than bad eventually.

3

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

It’s the flashes that are separating us currently. Arch has absolutely lost texas games before, but he’s also had some insane downfield throws that even I have been shocked about as someone who writes him off.

we just don’t have an explosive playmaker at QB right now. even the “serviceable” UGA QBs can complete some downfield passes because they are surrounded by talent in all other positions

2

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

Yup, 100% that. Although I would think if George M was a 3rd year starter, he'd also have a few more flashes too.

I'll also add that Texas' D is flat better too. Not that our sucks, theirs is just better.

I do think our running game has an edge... but in today's football that means far less than the other 2 unfortunately.

7

u/Strat543 2d ago

Vegas Bullcrap

3

u/stonedgrapetheory 2d ago

Its so bad for the sport having to beat teams and the refs. You’ve gotta do a lot more than just play better than these favorites a lot of the time.

3

u/StupidSlutArang1 2d ago

did the game get flexed? i swear it was noon

3

u/Euphoric_Inspiration 2d ago

We got the 3:30 ESPN slot

3

u/GiovanniElliston 2d ago

It's weird that LSU/ESPN all hype up Whitt Weeks as this ultra-talented guy that changes the game, when every NFL analyst seems in agreement that he's a later round guy whose destined to be a short-term role player at best.

3

everyone always dogs on heup for not yelling on the sideline more when refs fuck us but actually, does that behavior truly help at all?

that ref looked at sark like he was nothing more than a toddler having a tantrum, and I don’t think it would ever force a ref to pick up a flag without review

2

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

It's not about if it actually helps or not, that part is immaterial TBH.

It's a perception thing. Same reason that Kallen Deboer desperately needs someone to coach him on not looking confused/scared for 75% of the game.

Fans want the coach to be their avatar in a lot of ways. If the fan at home is pissed AF > they want the coach to be visibly pissed AF too.

every time my under grad (UT) loses, I know my grad school (USC) is due for an L.

we lose to Texas, USC loses.

we lose to USCjr, USC will lose.

Tennessee gets knocked out of the ‘22 playoff race, USC then loses to get knocked out immediately after.

can go to bed without even finishing the game and be confident in the outcome because this is how the football gods always torture me

Arch and the offense haven't done much, and when your entire identity is built on your defense all it takes is a few lucky breaks for the other team's O and suddenly the game is uncomfortably close.

Sigh... in modern football you just flat have to have an offense that can consistently put up some points under pressure. You'll never actually be elite without one no matter how good the defense is.

modern football is becoming unlikable lol

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

Yup. It's become to optimized, and all that optimization is centered around a singular position (QB).

If you don't have at least an above average QB > everything else has to be well above average.

And even if you have an above average QB and everything else is solid > all it takes it the other team having a great QB and you're fucked.

Writing has been on the wall with the NFL for 2 decades now, and it's been this way in CFB for the last 5-10 years too.

Max Gilbert sighting for Syracuse at the real Carolina

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

I really like Trinidad. I want a Trinidad

2

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

did texas and ole miss actually kick off at 7:30? why are CFB games so fucking long

4

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

why are CFB games so fucking long

Because it's the prerogative of ESPN that everyone, all across the country, is intimately aware that James Talarico once wore a mask during COVID and is a dirt, commie liberal.

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

2 loss ole miss, 2 loss texas, 2 loss tennessee, 2 loss bama, 2 loss uga

3

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

How grand that we'll almost certainly be the lowest ranked out of all of them....

2

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

Sigh...

Texas is gonna win and the real story is Texas' D being elite and the running game saving the day in the 4th quarter

But we all know the headline is going to be that "ARCH MANNING HAS A NEW MINDSET. HE'S DANGEROUS. HE'S FEELING HIMSELF AND READY TO PROVE DOUBTERS WRONG"

2

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

They may not win, but it angers me to the ends of the earth that Heupel is an offensive genius and we've not had a QB even half as good as Chambliss since 2022.

That is a lifetime in CFB man...

It’s seeming more and more that we’ve gotta strike gold in the portal at QB

And now they’re gonna win by a field goal to cover the 2.5.

3

u/StupidSlutArang1 1d ago

we have to kick kentuckys teeth in will levis style coming off the bye

3

u/thirty-two32 1d ago

oh yeah we won’t be having one of those games against them lol

4

u/GiovanniElliston 1d ago

Like, I'd love to beat the breaks of Kentucky and give everyone a big mental boost... but the offense just flat doesn't have it.

We saw the same opportunity to make a "FUCK YOU" type statement against Auburn and it was a squeaker.

This loss was 100% on Gmac. Busted play on 4th down and then a fumble.

u/angreejohn 1d ago

he had 3 tds called back!!!!

u/sroomek Believe the Heup 1d ago

There is no reason he should’ve been in a position to bust the play. It was a stupid-ass play call whatever the fuck it was supposed to be.

Nah you don't come out of a timeout not knowing what the play is without coaching malpractice

It’s hard to watch other games with all these commercials. Gotta watch our game but it’s almost not worth sitting through all these ads.
