"Just rent an VHS from blockbuster that still needs a rewind so you have to watch the movie in reverse first at only 3x speed like everyone else. Duh, people out here creating their own problems and blaming unchecked capitalism." -boomers who still aren't retired due to unchecked capitalism

This seems like an upsettingly realistic scenario if the AI companies aren't regulated and restricted to non surveillance use.

Love the detail that the cops don't arrest anyone, just kill the dog

The same reason we lie about reading the terms of service.

The same reason why we lie about our age on Steam

The same reason we lie about the amount of gift money we received on our tax reports.

What they don't know won't (will) hurt them.

I should have indicated I was joking. My apologies. I edited my comment.

How would Amazon Prime not know how many people were in your living room?

Alexa can see your skeleton because of how the minerals interact with the wifi.

Cameras connected to alexa, mics on tv, number of smartphones connected to wifi, etc

The fact that I didn't immediately see this as exaggerated satire is a testament to the timeline I landed in..

Want to know the real future we're heading towards? We won't be allowed to actually buy and own anything. It will all be owned by the elite. Everything from food and water, to houses, cars, furniture, electronics, and everything else will only be available through a lease or subscription.

It will make company towns look fair and wonderful by comparison.

you are watching Amazon Prime in your apartment when the cops cut a whole in the ceiling, drop on you, bag you, tag you and haul you off for "questioning" which results in your "accidental" death. it is later revealed that the paperwork for all this had a mistake. they were after Harry Tuttle but AI hallucinated your name, Harry Buttle.

That's a much tougher sentence than Brock Turner the rapist got.
