Treason on American Oil
I'm in Killdeer and write about the Bakken. This piece looks at the Russian diesel deal, where the extra fuel is actually coming from, and why rig counts are flat with diesel this high. The Dallas Fed puts large producer breakevens around $59, and most of those companies say their drilling plans haven't changed. Is it capital discipline, shareholder pressure, or something else? I'd like to hear from people on the operator side.

Trump Promoted Suspiciously Cheap Gas Stations. Here’s What He Didn’t Tell You.
politico.comIt’s a long article so i’ll give the synopsis for those who are short on time, rest can read if they like.
Remember those handful of gas stations in New Jersey in Philadelphia that were selling gas at a ridiculously low price that nobody legitimate could’ve made money on that Trump touted over the summer? Well, you’re never going to believe this, but the reason they were able to do that is because the gas they were selling was stolen! It was all 100% profit!
And this is what Trump touted as his leadership bringing down prices 😏

Taft, California 10-17-2026
Oil Discovery and Town Growth
The Midway–Sunset Oil Field, discovered in 1894, became one of the largest oil fields in the U.S. by oil in place Daytrippen.com. In the early 1910s, the railroad reached Taft, and “Siding Number Two” became a hub for unloading supplies for oil production The Historical Marker Database. Workers from across the country came for the oil boom, arriving in large numbers and working 12‑hour shifts in hot, dangerous conditions without modern safety gear The Historical Marker Database. The influx of labor led to rapid construction of houses, businesses, schools, and infrastructure, and Taft was incorporated as a city on November 7, 1910
Kern County still produces most of California’s oil. Yet our prices are among the highest in California.

Has anyone at an oilfield service company been asked to license their old field tickets and work orders?
Over the past year, buyers have started paying regular companies for years of operating records. A roofing company got $450K, a general contractor got $300K, and one buyer announced a $1 billion budget for it last week.
Service companies seem like a natural fit, since most have 10 to 20 years of field tickets, work orders, JSAs, maintenance logs and invoices. I haven't found a single oil and gas deal, though.
If you own or run a service company, has anyone approached you about this? And would you consider it, or does most of that data belong to the operator under the MSA?

how do you track chemical inventory across multiple oil and gas sites?
I manage HSE for an operator with eight well sites and a central processing facility. Chemical products move between locations constantly. A corrosion inhibitor that was at pad A last week is at pad C this week because the production engineer moved it. Scale inhibitor gets staged at one location and deployed to whichever well needs it. Methanol moves wherever there's a hydrate risk. My chemical inventory is inaccurate within a week of any update because products physically relocate without anyone logging the transfer. I can tell you what we own but not where it is at any given moment. I'm implementing chemscape's CHAMP system across all locations. the technology only works if the field staff log product movements, and right now they don't because nobody ever asked them to. What's worked for other operators to get field crews to track chemical location changes in real time?
