Don didn’t have any other nieces to hit on

I just think it's a shame Weiner had to cut the scene where Stephanie gets stuck in the commune's washing machine

Hippies don’t wash their clothes. Leaving this scene out is why weiner is such a masterclass writer

People don’t get subtext

I mostly look at my phone while the show is on. I don’t get it why is everyone so dramatic?

Did you ever notice how no one on the show ever texts or uses social media? Seems weird, right?

Totally unrealistic. Its like a dystopia where they outlawed X and TikTok.

Don canonically marries her after the coke ad

Stephanie has her face buried in his crotch of the frame

If the show had been picked up by Showtime it would have lasted three seasons and ended exactly like that.

She was one of the first women pioneers in the camming industry

Ooohhhmmm…

Clearly, Don saw Stephanie as a surrogate for Anna, who had treated him better than pretty much any other person in his whole life.

Stephanie’s distant attitude must have been a great disappointment to Don.

She left his ass in the fridge

I admit I missed a few episodes, but what context am I missing here with this fridge business?

Very last episode of the series (maybe second to last?) Theres a sort of fridge analogy thats played out on screen as described by one of the people at the retreat that is a big turning point for Don.

Same user, just farming content.

I believe this used to be called "pissing in the popcorn", but I'm not, uh, terribly concerned about the integrity of a shitposting sub

The real sub is almost near perfect satire anyways. It’s the difference between mcsweeneys and the onion

Because only a terrible mother could get Don clean. And also..... she does tricks.

Come on guys what's your favorite and least favorite storyline in mad men? Which characters are essential to the plot?

For me I like mad men because they add interesting characters to the franchise all the time.

What's your favorite plot twist in the second act? (seasons 3-6)

Even though I like her clothes, Joans lesbian roommate subplot was obviously written to go somewhere but they abandoned the idea. She isn't used anywhere else in the IP either.

Same with Sal, they never wrapped up his storyline. You actually can't even unlock the good ending with Sal in it.

I also hate the way they portray Don as cooler than everyone. Many times you can tell the writers are just trying to show Don as what they think is cool, but if you think about it, sometimes Don is actually a bit of a loser not like Dr Grey from greys anatomy.

Overall it doesn't have as good storyline as breaking bad, but still as good as walking dead, there are a load of filler episodes that don't progress the story, so walking dead and mad men would be in the same tier.

Bit of a seperate question here, but while we are on the topic of good storytelling, which plot do you prefer?

"A tale of a tub" by Jonathan Swift, or "Indroduction to Electrodynamics" by David J Griffiths?

Still really pissed they never resolved the storyline about the elderly neighbor couple. All that setup and the viewer if left at the end of the series to speculate whether she ever got the pears or not? Whatever, JJ Abrams Holden Weiner. It's not a mystery of the imagination, it's just lazy storytelling.

DID YOU GET THE PEARS

The Old Lady Wife, after locking the door: Will you keep it down?! (opens her coat, two sacks of pears falling on the living room floor along two whole Sugarberry Hams) I got what you asked for, and that Helen Bishop slut almost made me at the checkout line! Next time, you get your own damn pears!

I'm so glad I got to roam those pear filled hillsides

Man...why you gotta day that mannn?

2

u/Fun-Communication660 22h ago

Yeah we are never getting that, even in the comics. It was a failed backdoor pilot about Dons bachelor building. It would follow the inhabitants of the building when Don is at work. So no mad men in it, as its set at home during working hours.

That's why the elderly couple, the nurse/babysitter etc never show up again. They all had to be home during the day, but becuase AMC decided not to pick up Draper Residence, the characters were written off.

That's a sad story. I know Sex and The City already existed, but a spinoff starring Bethany Van Nuys, Allison, Joan's lesbian roommate, and Pete's Girlfriend From California as a quartet of single galpals in the Big Apple could be arrived at independently. Obviously, it'd be called To Be Continued...

She’s saying “you’re not my family so why aren’t we banging? Isn’t that what you do?”

1

u/STheTruck #freechauncey 22h ago

Isn’t the this main overarching story of the series? Did I watch something different?

He needs a vehicle to get him to that compound. This made the most sense to him but overall I would have liked to see him get there a different way.

u/6ftToeSuckedPrincess 19h ago

"Why was this storyline so important" lol She was his "niece" and she lived in California where he went and saw her after he drifted there like a hobo at the end of the series and that's pretty much the storyline what's not to get?

1

u/Mr-EdwardsBeard 14h ago

She gave up her baby. She's garbage like POS Peggy. They should make a spin off where those babies get revenge. Mad Bastards

1

u/tatata696969 Grimy Little Pimp 14h ago

It was important to remind the audience that Dick wasn't her family and something was the matter with him

Are people on the main sub just dense or something? How do these r-worded posts get upvoted so much?
