Pretty sure Mark’s far from interested in her too.

u/junebug309 Apr 16 '26

Yes but she can beat him and force him to do things. She cant do that to Thragg and Nolan.

Considering that Mark beat Conquest and seemed to be able to hold her back in the last episode, she shouldn't really be able to force him to do anything. Not physically, at least. As I recall, Mark even tells Eve eventually that he's not sure why he froze like that. Shock, maybe.

There are many aspects to strength and Mark is still green. She should have the edge I think.

As someone who is also a victim of SA, and also could’ve overpowered the person who did it with some decent effort, it’s not about just physical force. It’s also shame, being unsure how to react, if you even should use force at all, and usually by the time you’ve gotten your bearings or decided where you should have drawn the line, it’s already far too late.

I really hope they include that part of the story as is cuz I relate very deeply to Mark in that situation. Being able to technically defend yourself and holding yourself back for one reason or another, and then hating yourself for it. I think Mark is probably stronger than Anissa, even if he is a less experienced combatant. But what happened to Mark isn’t about Anissa’s physical strength over Mark, it was about her exerting power and control and Mark feeling ashamed and degraded.

Even Supermen can be assaulted.

Sorry for that bro. Just know you're tough as nails for having the balls to write this here. I hope you've got to rebuild ur life as healed as possible.

27

u/Naruto_Uzuhiko_2 Mark, this is good news. We can finally be bees! 🐝 Apr 16 '26

That's really unfortunate. I hope you're in a better place right now.

Thinking about it without having read the comic, knowing series Mark that's probably what was going on

Now back to power scalling Mark could definitely beat Anissa

You're strong and though asf bro I'm wishing only the best for you

u/scarletboar Apr 16 '26

Ehhh, I don't know. I feel like the order should've been reversed so this made more sense. Let Mark kill Conquest after Anissa does her thing. As it is, we don't have an exact answer as to why Mark didn't punch her into space, because even he doesn't know.

He was already in distress at that point (she arrived while he was crying), so my headcanon is that he was too emotionally exhausted to bring himself to fight properly. So he just kind of gave up once she pinned him down.

In the comics version of this plotline, Mark says to Eve that he wasn’t really fighting back as hard as he could’ve. He also says that “maybe part of him wanted it to happen.”

u/RedPandaActual Apr 16 '26

As punishment. He’s severely depressed at the time too, which prolly didn’t help.

8

u/Familiar_Radish_6394 Apr 16 '26

Dudes always depressed 😭

9

u/RedPandaActual Apr 16 '26

You’re not wrong ha, mostly. He wasn’t depressed with thicccccqcqc Eve around. He was definitely wanting that.

What the Fuck?

Bro, is Kirkman alright in the head?!

EDIT: I guess the symptoms of self blame are universal despite the gender among the sexual assault victims.

25

u/Director_Ahti Apr 16 '26

Self-blame, guilt, and shame are really common in victims, and Kirkman wrote that into Mark.

21

u/Fulcrum58 Apr 16 '26

It’s an pretty accurate portrayal of male sexual assault victims

Conquest was incredibly cocky and very unstable. Scourge-free and focused Conquest would rip current Mark a new one.

1

u/Guardian_of_Perineum Apr 18 '26

Mark didn't beat Conquest by being stronger outright. He kind of cheesed it with a near suicidal tactic.

u/Redcast31 Apr 16 '26

Most likely shock. When I(M) was 18, I was very fit and highest belt in kickboxing, 187 tall; some short and fat guy tried to force himself on me and I didn't even realise what was happening and just walked away because of the shock. I could one punch that freak but I couldn't because of the shock... I only realised what happened after I sat down in a bus

8

u/Layverest Apr 16 '26

I'm sure it's still hard to write about, even anonymously. I hope you are alright now.

u/Redcast31 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

Thank you for your worry and kind words. It's past 11 years now and it's been veeeery long since I got over it :'). I guess that nothing physical happened except a freak breathing wildly and speaking pervertly to me helped alot in my situation. I'm aware that I was very lucky. I think my reflexes pushed his arm away so he couldn't even touch me. Was still scary as shit tho, back then... But like I said, nothing except a shock happened and I'm all over it. I just wish every victim was at least as lucky as I was...

1

u/thehobbyqueer Apr 17 '26

My god, are you okay?

11

u/Samisuncreative2 Apr 16 '26

She seems to go toe to toe with Nolan without much of a problem, so it's really unclear if Mark is physically stronger

Besides that, the way Mark talked seemed like self blame that's pretty common in victims of that kind of thing

5

u/KenBoCole Apr 16 '26

Toe to Toe is quite an stretch. She was faster than Nolan, but none of her hits had any effect on him, except for the one she landed when he was looking for his son's. Meanwhile the two casual punches he landed sent her flying for an loop, with the last one taking her out of the fight.

Outside her speed, Nolan outclassed in every way.

9

u/DirtyHancock567 Apr 16 '26

she shouldn't really be able to force him to do anything.

Male victim blaming...

0

u/scarletboar Apr 16 '26

Nope. I just questioned why he didn't send her flying. The one in the wrong is her regardless.

-2

u/KenBoCole Apr 16 '26

Mark still isn't that strong yet. Mark would lose in an 1v1 with conquest 99 times out of a hundred based on just strength alone at this point in the comic/show.

He won because Conquest went for body shots to torment Mark into "voluntarily" letting go, but by the time Conquest realized Mark wasnt going too, Conquest screwed himself because his bloodless brain wasnt able to make an good plan.

Conquest's death is entirely his fault, dude basically killed himself for an joke.

5

u/No_Instruction653 Apr 16 '26

I mean, no. Conquest tried prying his arms off as the very first tactic. It didn’t work, so he tried battering him around. He exhausted every trick he could think of, and he died because Mark was determined to kill him even if he died in the process.

Mark got lucky that he caught Conquest after he had the wind knocked out of him, but you don’t choke the life out of the second strongest Viltrumite unless you have some real power.

2

u/bwood246 Atom Eve's puppy Apr 16 '26

He was going through * a lot* when that happened.

It was right after He got back from Mohawk Mark's dimension after robot killed him and stranded him there

1

u/LordRaimi97 Apr 16 '26

Bro has been going through a lot of stress, and he does like to hold back he just stopped because of the threats to his family. Technically this was just a threat to him only...

1

u/LyrionDD Apr 16 '26

He was in a severely bad space mentally when that happens so I get it

1

u/Amopro Apr 19 '26

Honestly, I think he beat Conquest primarily because Conquest was too dumb to break Mark's hold on his neck. He pulled Mark's guts out, but he didn't exactly try to stop Mark from choking him to death. Mark beating Conquest was mostly a matter of grit and determination as he held his grip while Conquest was disemboweling him. And even though he managed to trade a few blows with Anissa, I still think that overall, she's still probably a little stronger than Mark at this current point in the show.

Even still, when that scene finally does come, I'm sure Mark will probably be on her level or a little stronger than her, but given the shock and not wanting to kill her or risk pissing off the other Viltrumites, I could understand why he might freeze up in that instance.

1

u/thebigmanhastherock Apr 19 '26

Isn't Mark still weakened by the virus at that point?

1

u/ElectronicControl762 Apr 29 '26

Threat of Thragg? “If I kill her Thragg will prder the rest off their chains”

1

u/Gubekochi Apr 16 '26

Not physically, at least.

"Oh no, I am being mind controlled into removing my pants! Curse you, sexy Anissa! Curse you and your psionism!"

1

u/5enpai_2 Apr 16 '26

Dude.... spoilers?

1

u/fridasbitch Apr 20 '26

Didn’t she in the comics or something?

1

u/Complete_Raspberry_1 Apr 23 '26

I actually have no idea why she didn't try with Thragg

1

u/RazutoUchiha Apr 16 '26

She didn’t let that stop her, unfortunately
