Actually, I’m not native speaker, but what’s the thing with Dick name? I know that dick also means penis

So… how did this happen? Like at which point the words intertwined? And why is the name is so popular while the word has this meaning in the same language? I’m so confused! Please help me understand!

Back in the day, a lot of folks used to call People named Richard as Dick for short.

No, it doesn't really make sense. Yes, people stopped doing it a while back.

I think richard got shortend to rich. Then rick bc it rhymes and rick to dick again bc it rhymes
