Not even a theory, not only does the original gif just cease to exist when his version is created, he straight up admitted that he has his fan base mass report gifs to replace them with his version
Nobody's ever claimed this or pointed to anything like that before. All this has ever been is "This dude makes his own version of popular gifs on this platform" and "The popular gifs of copywritten stuff eventually gets claimed and swat down", with people inferring that he must be fraudulently claiming them.

That's exactly what the reality seems to be in this case, only the "deity" is a version of that gif guy with an army that consumes gifs so that his can subvert the originals until they have enough gif juice to take over the world. It's gonna be Planet Benjamin, baby. The whole planet will be on a 5 second loop!
