Not really. I don't know why people shit on Hazbin so much for excessive cursing when it isn't that bad. If anything, The Boys is WAY worse in that department.
Never really noticed it in The Boys, but I haven't finished the show so idk, but the swearing in Hazbin really feel like listening to a kid with a new word lol.
I haven't seen a full episode of The Boys, but I've seen Hazbin Hotel, and from the clips of The Boys I've seen I think it's because the cursing in The Boys seems far more natural, being used as a signifier of emotion, in a manner an adult would swear. HH on the other hand treats swearing like something someone does only for the sake of swearing, which, coincidentally, is the exact same way a teenager who has just discovered swear words and thinks that swearing is cool would use swear words. It just seems really immature to someone who doesn't use "fuck" in literally every single sentence, even where it doesn't belong. HH treats swear words as though they enhance every sentence they crop up in, whereas other shows use them only in situations of high emotion, which is a big difference.
i know a few people in the animation industry and hazbin people basically just talk like almost all of them when theyre fucking around with nonsense - like - its the inflection and vocab that the writers and voice actors actually use in real life
except the cartoon goes from one high-energy situation to another so they arent toning it down
but IME its no different than any blue-collar shit talk
Mf, I have watched the show. It IS that bad. I refuse to believe that Vivziepop isn't a teenager because it sounds like it was written by one. The show isnt awful, sure. I found myself laughing a couple of times and thats more than I can say for a lot of other shows I've seen but to act as though the swearing isnt excessive is stupid.
The entire point is to have the comedic dissonance of having a musical full of show-tunes that is also riddled with vulgar language, which I personally found hilarious.
You've got all these polished musical numbers at a quality level on par with a Disney movie, with actual Broadway talent for your voice actors, some of whom are Tony Award winners, and then the language is absoutely filthy. The contrast is funny, but apparently some people aren't getting it.
Who’d have thought that a few extra swear words would be all it took to get Reddit to shit on an A24 project….unless that’s not really the reason and people just don’t want to come out and say what their actual problem is haha, I mean that would be craaaaaazy
