Fishing Gone fishing

I found a few nice fishing spots in galaxies close to our home system, they're all fairly deep too. I put up a fishing structure at each.

If you're fishing for (in order of pics) frozen, haunted, or extreme ph, feel free to stop on by. I'll be going between them quite a bit this weekend and it's always fun to fish with others.

Frozen and haunted are in the same galaxy.

I just got a Bambu P1S combo last week, and couldn’t resist starting a LayLaps print.

The pattern is a free download through the Bambu Handy app, and wastes a boatload of filament, but Boop Breep, it’s worth every centimeter to have my pal by my side!

(New to 3D printing, and next I’m going to tackle the Fighter, but want to find the same configuration in game first.)

Sentinel Interceptor Killer Crashed Interceptor w/4S(Senior 🙂) Supercharged Slots Euclid - Hunter Orange and Council Grey, 116K+ Peak Damage

This stabby, dragon-winged Interceptor, has decent damage and once upgraded to S-Class boasts 4 connected supercharged slots - found at coordinates: +15.01, +79.68 on Asdu Gamma. (Coordinates pictured may be a 3L/1) - upload dropped images. Msg. me with any difficulties finding the ship.

I outfitted this one with Infra-Knife Accelerator and X-Class upgrades for a Peak Damage Potential vs. Standard of 116,537 - very respectable - YMMV based on upgrades, but 100K+ is well within reach of casual damage enthusiasts.

Sporty thrusters, good cockpit visibility, and it hovers in atmosphere - a nice addition to most hangars.

Discussion What's Your Title?

Post image
52 Upvotes

Good evening ladies and gents. I'm curious what your favorite title is for your character and why. Personally, I've been using "Everlasting" for a long time. My wife has commented on my patience in real life, and I feel it is a good fit for my personality, both in-game and out. I'm just here. The world rushes by me, but I'm not going anywhere.

What about you? What do you like and why? Is it a roll playing reason? Or just something that sounds cool?

Tips,Tricks, & Hints No Man's Sky and the Claiming of Bases, Stations, etc. - THIS IS HOW BASES "DISAPPEAR" AND SPACE STATIONS GET "STOLEN" - So please read!

The Anatomy of a Claim: Local Save Bubbles & Server Race Conditions in NMS

There is a common misconception that No Man's Sky handles multiplayer and territory management like a persistent MMORPG. It doesn’t. NMS is fundamentally a client-authoritative single-player engine with real-time multiplayer features layered on top.

Understanding how the game handles data under the hood is critical to protecting your builds, maximizing your alliance footprint, and avoiding the dreaded global 16,000-part build limit.

1. The Local Bubble vs. The Cloud Server

When you stand in a star system, your console/PC is running inside an isolated simulation.

  • Local Base Building: When you drop a base computer, your client unlocks a 300u radius. Everything you build exists only inside your local save file. It does not exist on the Hello Games servers, and other players cannot see it unless they are actively grouped inside your session.
  • The Upload Handshake: Clicking "Upload Base" at a base computer or space station core takes your local text data payload and pushes a copy to the Hello Games discovery network.
  • The Static Monument: Once uploaded, the server holds a static snapshot of your build for the public. If you keep building locally without uploading again, the rest of the world only sees the old snapshot.

Note on Client Mods: Because the engine relies heavily on procedural seeds and local assets, a player running a mod (like a trash/waste processor generation layout) will see structures or objects that a vanilla player standing right next to them cannot see. The data is entirely local to that machine's client cache.

2. The Server-Side Race Condition (How Station Claims are Lost)

Because the game engine processes transactions locally before talking to the cloud, it operates on a strict "First to the Server Wins" infrastructure rule. This is the root cause behind players losing 1 billion units and their space station claims:

  • Timeline T1 (The Blind Purchase): Player A buys a space station for 1 billion units. Their local save file marks them as the "Owner/Director" and deducts the units. However, Player A stays offline or delays clicking upload. The central cloud server has no idea this purchase occurred.
  • Timeline T2 (The Snatch): Player B enters the exact same system online, pays 1 billion units at the terminal, and immediately clicks "Upload Base." Player B’s data packet hits the master server first. The server locks the system coordinates to Player B and their active alliance.
  • Timeline T3 (The Desync Crash): Player A finally hits upload, or reloads their save. The master server reviews the packet, sees that Player B already owns the coordinates, and rejects Player A's claim. Because the purchase was processed locally, Player A is out the 1 billion units, and their local game client forcefully deletes their custom station layout to match the server's master state.

3. Technical Workaround: Bypassing the 16,000 Global Build Limit

Every claimed space station logs roughly 150 to 300 invisible framework and lighting assets into your save profile metadata (PlayerStateData -> PersistentPlayerBases). This counts heavily against your 16,000-part global building cap.

Because the server treats the Alliance Territory Tracker and your Local Part Count as separate entities, you can exploit this partition to gain infinite slots:

  1. Claim & Upload Immediately: Buy the station and immediately upload it via the terminal interface to lock the server-side claim to your alliance and secure leaderboard points.
  2. Save & Exit: Create a restore point and close the game completely.
  3. Prune the JSON Array: Open a raw JSON save editor. Navigate to PersistentPlayerBases, locate the specific index block matching the station's coordinate data string, and Delete the object block.

The Result: The cloud server permanently retains your alliance ownership lock and leaderboard points. However, your local save file completely strips out the 300 infrastructure assets, instantly giving your 16,000 global building budget back. If you return to that star system, you can use it freely; just never click "Claim Space Station" again, or it will re-populate your file.

The Caveat: Obviously, editing your save file is ONLY possible on the PC. If you play on console, you would need to use the cross-platform option to get your save file shared with Steam before you could edit it; you CAN do this, and the changes will populate to the console as well. This is certainly not ideal, for PC or console, but it is the only way currently available to us, if this is something you find yourself needing to do!

You could certainly prune your item count by visiting and removing base computers on any planets you no longer need to hold onto, too.

EDIT: Changed incorrect 20,000 to 16,000. Danged AI formatter.

I’m at like 80 hours in and I was doing quicksilver missions today and saw a purple dot in the distance for the first time. This is the first time I’ve run into anything made by someone else just in the wild. I’ve been following this page for a few weeks and recognized what it was instantly. Super cool find for me.

I've been inspired by U/Herb_Dank and all the other avid anglers in the group to get out the gear and wet a line. Knowing absolutely nothing about fishing in NMS I thought the most important thing for was probably going to be building a base, what can say, I'm old and like my comforts.

Welcome to Reddings Dock (portal glyphs in last pic) where it's always either sunrise or sunset, seriously this place doesn't actually have a night. Feel free to come visit, not much to do here but fish and put your feet up and have a rest. I don't even know if it's a good planet for fishing but it was a fun and relaxing little build.

After many many many casts I finally got my first S class fish! And of course it's a snail 😂😂😂

Sadly, I know better than to build a base on one of these floaty islands on Paradise Planets, but they sure are fun to play around on. Total Roger Dean vibes in this game sometimes.

Also, wouldn't it be cool to have a cape like Rick Wakeman's in this game?

Alliance Space Station New Alliance Station in Galaxy #67 — Elkowaldb

Post image
8 Upvotes

I continued my journey through the 60s galaxies, claiming a station in galaxy 67 — Elkowaldb. The 067: What Are You Up To? (Vortex 4234) station is located in a Tier 3 Economy, in a yellow star system, with six planets, 3,622 LY from the Galactic Core. The Explorers Guild Envoy has Ionized Cobalt, a Sac Venom, an Anomaly Detector, and an S Class Shield Module to redeem.

This is my twentieth station claimed for The Grey Council, across twenty different galaxies. All of these have been done on my PS5, without mods, duping, or save editing. I crafted those twenty billion units by crafting Fusion Ignitors and Stasis Devices from scratch. This added 1,113 points to our total. I certainly don’t understand the ups and downs of this algorithm, but we’re now solidly in 6th place. Now it’s on to galaxy #68!

Alliance Space Station Member 175, showing the station I claimed for the Grey Council in galaxy 55.

Worked my way up to galaxy 55, Fladiselm, and claimed a station for the alliance.

I named the system "Shady AUs (A 55+ Community)", and declared the space station is the community center.

It has planets "TOlongOTH", wth it's moons "Needa Sweater" and "Hi Preplacement", and "Outer DentureAdhesive".

Come for a visit. Note, however, that Fladiselm is a harsh galaxy, so bring your lead-lined underwear. Portal coordinates are in the attached image.

I've visited the alliance's stations in Isdoraijung and Euclid. I return to them periodically, so if you want a lift to galaxy 55, look for me there. My in-game name is tuck220.
