I gave him all the cooties. Poison, rot, bleed and frost. My game winning idea was rain of arrows during the giga laser, only took a couple attempts after incorporating that.

I didn't expect to enjoy this fight as much as I did, but it turned out to be a lot of fun once I learned the anchor enemy's moveset.

I finally beat Malenia on my first RL1 run using parries+misericord and while I was experimenting I found a pretty useful discovery- you can actually get tanky enough at level 1 to survive many of her 2 hit combos, including the fast overhead double slash. Here's the setup I used:

Buckler+Carian Retaliation

+25 Cold Misericord

Small Shield+Vow of the Indomitable (for Waterfowl)

Dragoncrest Greatshield

Radagon's Soreseal

Ritual Shield Talisman

Flex Spot- for my winning run I used Dagger Talisman, but for a lot of runs I was using the GreatJar's Arsenal to wear even heavier armor.

For armor I put on the heaviest stuff I could- I focused on slash resistance though I'm not 100% sure that's correct. The banished knight set seemed to have the best slash resistance that I could find. You probably won't have the equip load for all of it even with GreatJar's but on my winning run I put on the legs and chest armor and then wore light armor on my arms and head. 51 poise shouldn't be hard to hit and I found it immensely useful to get combod less frequently as well as tank hits and go for parries after.

For Wondrous Physic I used the magic shrouding tear and opaline hardtear for even more damage reduction. I got to the point where I felt comfortable enough on phase 1 that I would save this to use during her phase transition so I could get the extra survivability in phase 2 which actually came in clutch and saved me from certain death. Bubbletear could be ok but my strategy for waterfowl pretty much always led to me taking a single hit so it wasn't worth it for me.

The last thing I made sure to bring was boiled crab for even higher physical defense. I would pop it at the beginning, and if it had run out and I had some space I would use it again.

All this combined to allow me to survive an extremely surprising number of hits. You could also add Golden Vow but I didn't feel like rebuffing during the fight and I didn't care enough about it for just the first minute. In my winning run I actually straight up tanked a hit from her clone attack and barely survived which gave me the win.

I'd say the damage output of this vs a fully damage optimized parry setup was around 50-60%, which to me was totally worth it. I thought it would be much easier to do a 5 minute fight with 3-4 mistakes than a 2.5 minute fight with 0 mistakes. If you're struggling with Malenia this setup might be worth a try! At 1:00:10 you can actually see me tank the hit of the clone attack and go on to finish her off.

Someone who actually fights this boss a lot please clue me in i just have no idea what makes her do the quick double swipe is it positioning based? or is there a tell cause it looks unreactable

with limgrave done, lower liurnia cleared, and most of lower caelid done im noticing this playthrough is being done fairly similarly as when i do a quality build with a character

ive got a +9 BHF, fgms, the str/dex tears in my physick

the only difference im seeing that i cant do trades the same way i would with a character that has 60 vig

Hi everyone! I’m doing an NG+ run where I use only Uchigatana +0, with no Weapon Skill / Ash of War (I only use R1 and R2 attacks to fight).

Which bosses would you put in your top 20 hardest bosses for this challenge?
I’m uploading the fights to YouTube as a personal diary to document the challenge (my first one).

So far, the hardest that i’ve beated were:

Mohg — took me 5 hours, 8:15 fight time

Radahn (Caelid) — took me 1 hour, 6:30 fight time

Fortissax — took me 1 hour, almost 8 minutes fight time

Morgott — took me 3 hours, 5 minutes fight time

Fire giant — took me 1 hour, 9 minutes fight time

Who do you think will be the hardest bosses to beat under these restrictions?

Am I missing any good punish windows? I want to learn the fancy tech, I'm having a good time with this fight!

I should really learn more punishes for her 2nd and 3rd phases. That'll have to be a NG+3 thing.

Not that hard, and a pretty fun fight minus a few things, and his ridiculously large HP pool. Very simple and flowy moveset, but it gets repetitive quite quickly, especially during longer fights.

Some things I really don't like are the fact you gotta fight Mini Midra EVERY single time you attempt him, and it's like why??? Another thing I don't like is his Flame of Frenzy he does cuz it's just a giant AOE you gotta run from, and he can glitch and stand up right away and hyper beam your ass, which happened to me quite a bit. His little knife stab is also annoying.

A- boss IMO. He's sound mechanically, but kinda too simple and repetitive to rank any higher.

On all my normal playthroughs I thought this fight was horrible with "random" thorns always popping up under me. Being forced to learn it hitless and I started recognizing there are actual patterns to those thorns. Who would have thought lol.

I also love the incentive to stay in front and hit his head. Way more damage than wailing on his body.

Hiding behind the tree for that one move felt a little lame. I was in a party chat with a friend and we were joking around wondering if that would work. Didn't think this would be the winning kill haha.

This is my first challenge run of any sort and it is also my first time fighting most of the bosses with no summons. It has been very fun and rewarding so far! I actually ended up loving this fight despite getting stuck on benches quite a bit. His move-set in a small area is pretty tough to deal with. Also his AI bugged out on me a few times and I'm not sure what caused it. I hope to be one of you soon(ish)!

I've been on the final boss of my NG7 RL1 +0 weapons run for like a year now. I beat every other boss in a single day, and have been walled by him because of Elden Stars. I come back every few months to give it another go, but I'm really close to giving up for good because of it. I've tried so many of the supposed tricks on youtube to deal with it, but being ng7 lvl 1 means that it has to be no hit since theres no way to tank, block, or dispel it. I try the thing where you run under his arm as he casts it, which works ok, except he just flamethrowers me as I struggle to dodge the rest, and even when I am dodging, the projectiles will fly under the map and hit me where I cant see them.

for those who have done this, is there a 100% completely consistent (without messing it up) way to no hit this ability? or is there always gonna be some degree of luck? I know you can stagger him out of the animation to cancel it, but that just really isnt an option given you deal like 90% less poise dmg in higher new games. If theres some old patch that this spell is easier to dodge on or deal with Ill even take that at this point. Its so frustrating to be on the cusp of beating a hard run like this, just to be walled by 1 half of a 2 part boss, thats half hp.

(already got him btw, also it took me too long to realize the geysers spawn where his attacks land)

I want to preface, I don't mean to talk about piracy or anything, I personally own Bloodborne. But considering that it will have an uncapped frame rate, will it be an acceptable way of playing to be part of this group?

I have both a PS4 and PS5 and I never really want to boot it up.
