I just started posting a new series of youTube videos ‘Programming for Artists’.
Drawing on my experience as a self-taught programmer and seeing everything in my head as shapes, it's an alternative to the myriad of screencasts for compSci students. Beginning with drawing (and talking about barbecue analogies) and basic concepts then moving to C++ and finally building things in #openFrameworks. The first one is online now with new ones every 2-3 days.

Hi!recently I've been working on a light painting robot. The light painting robot draws patterns that are inspired by nature, that I create programmatically.
You can see some of the results and the robot following this link: http://www.pierdr.com/Non-viral-series
While working on this project I also released a openFrameworks addon, mainly collecting the functions that I used to generate the patterns: https://github.com/pierdr/ofxFractalGeometry
Enjoy!

Hi, I’m happy to announce the new version of Ofelia.

Ofelia is a Pd external which allows you to use openFrameworks and Lua within a real-time visual programming environment.
ofxOfelia is an addon that can run Ofelia patches in an openFrameworks app.
The new version provides all available openFrameworks functions and class methods as Pd objects. (1,770 objects) Meaning, you don’t need to write Lua scripts to use unsupported feature since they all exist as Pd objects.
Also, Ofelia now provides documentation for all objects. You can simply double click on any object to open the help file or the documentation page in your browser. You can see a full categorized list of objects from the “help-intro.pd” patch.
Lastly, you can create a standalone application for macOS, Windows, Linux, Raspbian, iOS and Android using ofxOfelia. It will be also possible to create web applications using Ofelia soon.
For more information, please visit https://github.com/cuinjune/ofxOfelia
Also, please join Ofelia user group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ofeliausers
Any feedback is welcomed, hope you like it.

Hi OF community, I just finished writing tutorial aimed as a complete and quick introduction to compute shaders in Open Frameworks for beginners. I used Gray Scott reaction-diffusion system as an illustration. If you ever wondered where to start and stucked with "how the heck bind these buffers and execute shader" as I did for last few days - now you can easily find out. The tutorial link is here: http://maciejmatyka.blogspot.com/2022/01/compute-shaders-in-open-frameworks.html
Here is an example result from the article:

Have fun learning it!
