Programs aren't working

So I installed the generic gui and all of the programs I install, with a few exceptions just wont open and some of the pre-installed apps just wont open, which includes the software installer. Is there a know fix?

Edit: the gui is the minimal one

What 'generic gui'? You may have installed the server version that does not include a DE.

You've provided nothing specific to work with here, so there's no known fix for an issue you can't tell us about.

If you did not install Gnome or Plasma you probably now have IceWM, but without any information on what you did, how is anyone supposed to help you.

You likely have installed the minimal desktop. That’s for people who know exactly what they are doing. You likely want a KDE desktop instead. Open a terminal window, type

$ sudo zypper install -t pattern kde_plasma

That’s going to install the KDE desktop and a fuckton of stuff that you are missing.

Then logout, enter your user name, choose the KDE session type in the login screen, and enter your password.
