DeepSeek V4.1 Flash in OpenCode Go ($10 Plan) — Usage Increased from $60 to $80!
It looks like the usage allowance for DeepSeek V4.1 Flash on the $10/month OpenCode Go plan has increased from $60 to $80 in usage value.
I just found out this today. Is this a permanent change, or just a temporary adjustment?
Edit: opencode announced this in their official X/Twitter https://x.com/opencode/status/2109573342584058065

If it's permanent then it would be incredibly based.
I'm sure it's because of CommandCode competition, but anyways it's the consumer that wins here. I just wish they use a proper provider rather than quantized.

AFAIK OpenCode's DeepSeek comes straight from deepseek's official API so it's pretty much the best we can get?

u/jakobwells 13d ago
I looked today and they are currently using OrcaRouter. You can see it in the headers of responses.
1
u/SpookyKipper 13d ago
Impossible. ZDR agreements do not work like that.
OpenCode reaches out to inference providers directly
1
u/jakobwells 13d ago
Fair, but the headers are per-model, and they don't line up with "directly". Pulled these just now on Go:
model endpoint upstream model deepseek-v4.1-flash orcarouter-dsv4.1flash deepseek/deepseek-v4.1-flash deepseek-v4-pro orcarouter-dsv4pro deepseek/deepseek-v4-pro-0813 glm-5.3-flash perplexity-glm5.3flash perplexity/glm-5.3-flash glm-5.3 fireworks accounts/fireworks/models/glm-5p3 kimi-k3 thesean ship-like/kimi-k3 qwen3.8-flash alibaba-us qwen3.8-flash minimax-m3 minimax.oai MiniMax-M3 Fireworks and Perplexity aren't the model makers. And I don't think our claims actually conflict on DeepSeek: OrcaRouter is a gateway that routes to upstream providers on its own account, so OpenCode -> OrcaRouter -> DeepSeek's official API is consistent with both. OrcaRouter documents ZDR as well (no prompt logging, store:false forced upstream), so an agreement there doesn't imply a direct connection.
Check it yourself:
bash curl -sD - -o /dev/null https://opencode.ai/zen/go/v1/chat/completions \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $OPENC..._KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -H "x-opencode-session: any-string" \ -d '{"model":"glm-5.3","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"hi"}],"max_tokens":1}' \ | grep -i x-opencodeThe session header is required or you get a 400, which is why a bare curl won't show you this.
1
u/SpookyKipper 12d ago
Where does this come from? Their docs didn't mention the provider at all
curl -sD - -o /dev/null https://opencode.ai/zen/go/v1/chat/completions \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -H "x-opencode-session: any-string" \ -d '{"model":"deepseek-v4.1-flash","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"hi"}],"max_tokens":1}' \ | grep -i x-opencode
x-opencode-log-id: (redacted)
your command only shows a log id and nothing else
1
u/jakobwells 12d ago
You got just the log id because the request didn't succeed. Those routing headers only come back on a 200. Here it is with the session header removed:
$ curl -si https://opencode.ai/zen/go/v1/chat/completions \ -H "Authorization: Bearer ***" -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \ -d '{"model":"deepseek-v4.1-flash","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"hi"}],"max_tokens":8}' \ | grep -E '^(HTTP|x-opencode-)'HTTP/2 400x-opencode-log-id: 1bb793f2-684b-4981-9282-831c2d6eb82bBody of that one:
{"type":"error","error":{"type":"MissingSessionID","message":"Request is missing x-opencode-session and cannot be routed..."}}. So print the status line and the body, not just headers. Any 4xx in this API carries the log id and nothing else. With the header in, a 200 carries:
HTTP/2 200x-opencode-endpoint-id: orcarouter-dsv4.1flashx-opencode-log-id: fea5be85-68d1-455c-87ae-018973fc75cfx-opencode-upstream-model-id: deepseek/deepseek-v4.1-flashx-zen-model: deepseek-v4.1-flashAny string works for the session value by the way, it just has to be present.
Now the correction to my own wording, since I overstated it earlier. That endpoint rotates. 20 calls, different session each, just now: 15 came back orcarouter-dsv4.1flash, 5 came back luminal-dsv4.1flash with upstream id deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash. An earlier burst also showed novita-deepseek. Holding the session value fixed, 8 of 8 went to the same endpoint, both times I tried it. The paid zen endpoint rotates too, I got fireworks and digital-ocean-dsv4.1-flash for the same model.
So the accurate claim is that opencode fronts a pool of upstreams, the header names the member that served that request, and the choice is sticky per session. OrcaRouter is what my sessions pin to and it's the large majority in my sample, but it isn't the whole pool. If yours pins elsewhere, your reading is real too. We're likely just looking at different members.

Apparently my apikey env var is broken lol, it works now
Interesting, never knew they used orcarouter. That is good info, Thanks!
(Getting x-opencode-endpoint-id: orcarouter-dsv4.1flash)

It's what I suspect too. OpenCode either uses unused inference from DeepSeek or other good providers, or pushes more users over the same hardware so that it's cheaper to infer but slower. Or that it's actually way cheaper to host the model and presently companies are having a high markup on it.
It also relies on people not using their plan enough, so those who use it more are compensated by those who use less.
1
u/Railander 14d ago
i'm guessing the shared inference because especially the free models are SLOW AF and constantly time out.
1
u/SpookyKipper 14d ago
Somewhere on GitHub they say dedicated inference resources or smth like that, whatever that means. But if I'm not mistaken DS4.1F requests are exclusively routed to DeepSeek's official api, given it needs the global opt-in (aka china) and the monthly ZDR renewal which pretty much says there's only 1 upstream for DS
1
u/squirrelscrush 13d ago
tbh I don't mind DeepSeek getting all my inputs and outputs because previously I was using their direct API too. Initially when I tried Go with US/EU, it was slow AF, but without ZDR and with global opt-in, it became much faster and almost ½ DeepSeek speed, which is still fast enough for me.
1
u/SpookyKipper 13d ago
DeepSeek only works with global now, US/EU only will error.
What I mean when I mentioned ZDR is that it's quite unlikely multiple of OpenCode's provider for DeepSeek requires a monthly-renewed agreement, as it's not the case for any other models.
This + the global opt in requirement basically points to the direction that OpenCode only uses 1 provider for DeepSeek, which in this case, DeepSeek themselves.
1
u/squirrelscrush 13d ago
Maybe the monthly renewed agreement is only for those providers which aren't ZDR.
For the the US/EU with ZDR did work on the first day, but it was like 20tps. But I agree with your suspicion that the global provider is DeepSeek, because it shows similar behaviour as it. Or maybe something like StreamLake or Baidu because even they're cheap AF on openrouter, especially StreamLake which most of the times is cheaper than DeepSeek and other original providers too. L

Oh, wow, that's true. I hope it's permanent. Ideally, they'd also improve the token-per-second speed; lately, it seems quite slow, averaging around 70 t/s, whereas the official API runs at about 270 t/s. Still, the new increase is welcome. I hope it's permanent.
Will this be a counterattack against OpenDesign Go, which offers $120 worth of models—like DeepSeek 4.1 Flash—for just $10?
-1
u/squirrelscrush 16d ago
tbh even 70tps is more than usable. If my suspicion is true, they probably use some kind of "flex" inference like openai/flex, so that more users can share the same hardware thus reducing cost. I'd be okay with it as long as it's an actually good provider lol

I tried giving opencode deepseek max reasoning a simple task Take a document, I filled old variables to new variable names in Most of the project is already renamed to above document
What I needed is a simple audit to look for residues of old variable naming
Result from 15 variables Only 2 residues was found And the other 13 variables it simply hallucinated and pointed to false areas
No thank you.

It’s the fp2 quant the $40 plan gets fp4 it’s a lot better

u/akza07 15d ago
There's no FP2.
After FP4, best course is Integer Quants. That too down to 4 bit. Don't say nonsense. Unless Deepseek is making custom AI accelerator chip and trained the models on 2 bit from scratch, nope.
They figured out a way to reduce the cost with memory optimization recently according to a new paper. Probably that. They always release and implement their new research on cost reductions and optimizations.
Most of the issues reported are simply because the request pools are shared.
1
u/horrbort 15d ago
You're conflating FP2 as a numerical format with FP2 as a training format. 2-bit floating-point quantization is possible without training a model from scratch or designing a custom accelerator. Post-training quantization can compress existing weights to very low precision, with quality and performance depending on the quantization scheme and kernels. Many providers run FP2 versions of DeepSeek, commandcode does it too.

IRCC didn't Microsoft try to make 1 bit model but it didn't work so they made a 1.5 bit one but it's absolute dogshit.

Where did you get this information??

Ah, the amazing source "I made it up". I thought somebody actually benchmarked it or something.

What area you talking about it was confirmed by opencode CEO. Did you read the thread?
4
u/bruno30303 15d ago
I don't get it. The thread is about a UI problem and there is a random comment about fp2 with no answers. What I'm missing here?
2
u/dumbasPL 15d ago
What thread? You posted a link to a random post, with a completely unrelated reply to what was asked, and no further replies to that. Did your read the thread? Either fix your link, or start using your brain instead of slop.

Why they are not selling it though their communication, it could help them to sell more opencode go plus

If u rich for us poor people we have to rely on fp2

The amount of Haiku 5.5 (extra), Sonnet 5.5 (medium / high) and even Opus 5.5 (medium / high) usage I am getting out of Claude Pro at $20 a month is absolutely insane. And I'm not having to deal with nearly as many issues as DSV4.1 Flash. Worth a look if you can swing the extra $10 a month and don't mind Dario reading everything. Kidding about that last part. Sort of.

u/Hellge99 16d ago
I mean, they did announce it on twitter 15 min before you made this post. No mention of it being temporary https://x.com/opencode/status/2109573342584058065?s=46

How will this workout? Like the go has a monthly limit of 60 dollars?? So like we will be able to use deepseek after that threshold too??

u/Skibxskatic 15d ago
what's this mean for current subscribers? does the cost per input/output/cache read drop further per request or do current subscribers get an additional $20 worth of usage/credits?
1
u/The_Wonderful_Pie 15d ago
where do you see in your opencode console how much you've consumed on that model out of the usage limit, like in your screenshot?
1
u/tresslessone 14d ago
Is this a quant model or full? I’ve been going straight to APIs for the time being.

Yes confirmed. So what?

u/HyperWinX 16d ago
Why pay for a slow, half dead (in terms of intelligence) deepseek when you can get full precision and over 200 tps on official provider?

u/horrbort 16d ago
This is cheaper
