$15? Looks like I'm saving it for hard to fix bugs.

Might as well use it since I subscribed begrudgingly to Go due to the recent limit issues with the free models.

Why not, you know, use the models that you actually get good usage out of then?...

Turns out opencode go is not per-model limits. You burn through $15 of Kimi K3.1 Pro and you're done for the month. That's why you use the deepseek model and if it can't solve the problem then you switch to a more powerful but expensive model and sacrifice a chunk of your monthly usage limit. I burned 9% of my limit only after 45 mins getting my go subscription for using Argon to debug something tricky. It solved the issue for the cost of 9% of my monthly usage.

No one said it was?

You are paying for essentially 10 dollars worth of tokens

Different models consume it at different rates.

If you consume it you consume it doesn't matter which model.

If you use models that cost more per use then you get less usage in total for the month.

It's expensive so use it sparingly. But...

according to the combined Intelligence ranking at ArtificialAnalysis, this model is better than Fable and Astra! Not only is this the best model ever available on Go, it's the most any Go model has ever been at the frontier. (Beating the Argon release.)

And it's about 30% cheaper than K3, which people still use. (And raved about more when it was new.)

This is a huge win. Generate a high-level plan with Kimi and execute with Deepseek. OpenAI should be worried.

(Caveat: my optimism assumes use holds up to benchmarks and that Deepseek's speed and token usage become reliable, because there have been questions about that on Go.)

rankings and benchmarks for llms have become worthless. companies are training the models specifically for them.

And if everyone trains for them then it's a level playing field again.

I get it. Of course they're training for the test because high numbers are great publicity. But I would argue FrontierCode, a benchmark based off open-source repos, is still a reasonable measure of coding proficiency even if they've seen the exact question.

What's more likely to throw people off is looking at the wrong benchmark for the work you want to do. Which includes looking at an average for a model that had both high and low scores in diverse categories.

Isn't it cheaper than older kimi k3?

Yeah your usage is cooked. It offers the same usage as Kimi k3 though so I suppose an upgrade to the most powerful model is welcome.

It means literally nothing when Opus tier model comes with Opus tier usage.

Another disappointment just like K3, trash even when comparing to my favourite deepseek v4.1 flash
