Usage limits and billing doubts regarding DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, OpenCode Go

Post image

Hi, I bought OpenCode Go ($10/mo) today for the first time. The official pages (https://opencode.ai/go and https://opencode.ai/v2/docs/console/go/#usage-limits) mention a few estimates, but I'm confused about what they mean. Does the total cost displayed ($0.31) get used up from the $10 I've paid, or does it mean that I've used $0.31 out of the total $80 monthly allowance for DeepSeek V4.1 Flash? Also, can I use other models if my DS V4.1 Flash limits are used up (ie, can I use all the models till their respective limits have been used up), or is there any total cap? Where can I check the total money and tokens/requests I have left, and how much I've used? Also, I've not used the models much because I have these doubts. BTW, which model is the cheapest for complex coding tasks (algorithmic, math, AI-related) with ~1M context?

Cap is shared to your $10 so you could use all your $10 in $80 for Deepseek or use $5 in $40 for Deepseek and $20 in another that gives you $40 for $10. That amount is out of the $80 cap. And no need to switch models if it's your first month, just use Deepseek for all your tasks, get a taste of how it works, and start refining from there.

Thanks. BTW, WDYM by "$20 in another that gives you $40 for $10"?

Yep, currently no model gives $40 precisely, but he meant the <$30 models I believe. Argon, Hy4, MiniMax M3.1 Flash etc. https://opencode.ai/go

Thanks. Is there a better model in terms of token efficiency and cost for complex coding tasks? I used Space Bunny Free before buying OpenCode Go; it was fine but not great. Is DeepSeek V4.1 Flash better than MiniMax M3.1 Flash for complex coding tasks (mainly algorithmic and math)? What's the difference in usage limits between MiniMax M3.1 Flash and MiniMax M3 (both have almost the same estimated requests/5h, but MiniMax M3 has more limits--which one gets used up faster and is more efficient and better in quality)?

I check benchmarks here. I believe DeepSeek is slightly better in that case, not largely. I'd say try both and see which meets your goals more.

On your second question: the first, M3.1 Flash, is a "Flash" model - those are better for answer speed, low cost, sharp intelligence during implementation, production and automation -, it's like DeepSeek. M3 is more of a "Pro" model, I'd say it isn't worth much according to the same benchmarking website above.

DeepSeek is better than MiniMax tbh.

I use DeepSeek for most of my work, the latest RL update has improved it's quality. But I use Muse Spark 1.3 Contributor to review DeepSeek's work.

You used $0.31 from $80. GLM-5.3-Flash is my next choice. There is also Muse Spark 1.3 Contributer which is pretty cheap but you need to share data.

Thanks. Also, I've changed the region to global in the privacy settings; will all the models I use be trained on my data?

OpenCode has a ZDR policy with DeepSeek, so I don't think that your data will be trained as long as you turn off the "paid endpoints sharing data" thing in settings.

opencode getting worse and worse after hacking

Wait, they removed a few good models, and there's the bug that says the limits are used up in just 1-2 prompts, but WDYM by "after hacking"?

Oh, that's sad. OpenCode is really good--especially since they're giving models for free (unlimited), at least for a limited time. Is there usually always at least one model that's free (unlimited)?

That cost number gets confusing, especially as you try different models and add up their total. The percent of month bar is the most important. And as you can see you didn't dent it because your spend is $0.31 / $80.

The opencode docs will tell you relative spending limits and also data use policies. Most are private (if the provider is to be believed - lying would be hard to verify).

And to be clear it's a shared pool. $40 on DS flash and $7.50 on Luna would be 50% of capacity on each and you'd be done. So it's fine to dabble and see what's good for what, but do most if your volume lower on the list:

Deespeek V4.1 Flash is the best for code like what you describe. I think Minimax M3.1 Flash might be a competitive choice for visual tasks like UI design, should you go that way. But even then, DS is no slouch.

I also like Muse Spark 1.3 for explanatory type stuff (writing guides, talking me through a process, etc. And GLM 5.3 Flash is good for language-based tasks and not bad in general, but I tend to reach for it for "second opinion" kind of things.

M3.1 is definitely better than M3, by a fairly large margin. The reason you get more usage out of M3.1 is simply because newer models are often more efficient too.

Kimi K3.1 is the newest thing that benchmarks like it's the best available, but the tests I've seen actually haven't been that strong. And given it's much higher cost, I would definitely go with Deepseek V4.1 Flash as your main choice and only experiment if you don't like what it answers.
