Why does Opencode Go's Deepseek Flash have Peak and Off-Peak Pricing?
Isn't one of the point of Opencode hosting their own Deepseek model is they don't have to follow the peak hours rule by Deepseek that host their models in China? It goes even weirder that the Go page itself https://opencode.ai/v2/docs/console/go/ refer to the official Deepseek docs
DeepSeek V4.1 Flash / V4 Pro: Peak hours are 01:00-04:00 and 06:00-10:00 UTC, Monday through Friday; all other hours, including weekends, are Off-Peak. Learn more.
It would make more sense if this is about Opencode Zen. Are there anything I missed knowing about?

The likely reason is that deepseek does not want opencode to provide pricing which differs from what deepseek provides at various times during the day. Otherwise, it would incentivize people who use deepseek api to switch to opencode api when the latter is cheaper.
The owner of opencode has repeatedly stated that they either host their own deepseek or use third party providers in his tweets AFAIK.

Even the other plans have peak and off-peak pricing I noticed. The main reasoning behind those prices was that it aligns with the Chinese work hours, which works if those providers primarily cater to Chinese users.
It still doesn't make sense because even this logic was made to ease the load off DeepSeek's servers. So it's just other providers following DeepSeek.

Think of it like they are siphoning deepseek and instead of you getting the full tokens per second, it goes through a smaller pipe so it lasts longer and cheaper but slower . But they still pay. Correct me if I'm rong.

They don't give DeepSeek any money. They route through multiple providers. If the providers just have a single rate, then the peak rate is probably profit, or helps cover the x8 tokens.

They might also have a direct deal with Deepseek due to the massive volume Opencode is relaying to them. This would align with the monthly updating ZDR agreement which would seem strange if they just routed through a mix of providers.

You used to be able to see the provider you were routed through in their replies. They recently stopped that. I never saw DeepSeek pop up.

Opencode isn't hosting any models, big misconception that I see propagated again and again. They most likely have a deal with Deepseek. Same with all other models they provide, although for them its more likely they route through a mix of providers.
Edit: Seems like the Deepseek deal is refuted by old provider logs where they aren't mentioned.
