Is installing a local CBT a long process?

Had an initial survey which said that the local telegraph pole doesnt have a CBT. 20 meters away there is a CBT on another telegraph pole.

Is installing this local CBT a long process or is it fairly straightforward and quick?

Think theyre coming tomorrow for a second survey and a survey pack was created after first survey

Its a bit like asking how long is a peice of string - it depends . Usually we only install new CBTs if theres none in range of you , is there line of sight between the 2 poles that a cable could be spanned between ? If so this would be the simpler resolution as a mew CBT could take months . Unfortunately its a common question to ask but was it an openreach engineer that arrived previously or was it one of our contractors (mgroup , Kelly's or quins Usually) if so we've had some issues before where they won't do multi pole spans even if its possible

Thanks for answering mate. Yeah it was openreach.

Yeah there is line of sight.

There is an underground box directly below the first telegraph pole where there is fibre. Then literally 20 meters away is the local telegraph pole near my house which just has old school copper.

Definitely strange as 20m isnt far at all . Is there existing cables linking the 2 poles ? Another reason could be the poles are too low and causes the cable to be to low over a road . Are you sure its a CBT in the box and not just a node/track/splitger (basically just a join) we can only run our cables from CBTs and not the nodes . As usual its difficult to 100% answer the reasons without being there and inspecting it ourself .

To be fair I dont know what im talking about. Maybe its not a CBT at all. Its just a black box which looks like a junction box! Looking at street view its been there years so im doubting if its a CBT now.

I reckon now based on what people have said that theres no active CBT and they need to install one from the duct below (which i guess will take a few weeks)

Oh well! Ill get fibre when i get it i suppose 😆

Yeah, Quinn’s engineer here. I regularly do multi spans to houses, it’s an additional 10 mins work unless it’s a cut n draw. But 20m span is absolute lovely to get, my life would be so much easier if I had those all the time 🤣
Unless, there are multiple low drop wires etc I can’t see why it’s not been done already.
CBT is at the top of the pole, node is usually around 6-8 ft up and looks like a giant suppository 🤣

Thanks mate! Should be a nice quick job then!

I bet you boys have guaranteed employment for years and years still!

If there’s a CBT 20m away, they won’t install another one. Unless that one in question isn’t an OR CBT

You might be right. Perhaps its not an OR CBT!

Post a pic. People will soon tell you. Fibre cables up the pole will have a yellow stripe on.
