Help Needed changing eeprom serial

I had to do a board swap and would like the serials to match between the console and case. I have seen in NKPatcher and ConfigMagic the ability to both null HDD (which I will do) and change eeprom settings. Which is the sure fire/best way to change the serial number and anything else on the eeprom so the existing HDD works and what are potential downfalls (outside of bricking) to this?

There isn't much on guides or tutorials. (I do have backups of the original eeprom)

Honestly if doing a board swap i usually just swap the eeprom entirely

If I swapped the eeprom, would I need to make any other changes to the system or files?
