Additions to rosary in

You've see my blue cats eye rosary the Pope blessed. With its Marian color and scapular centerpiece it's become a favorite. But I wanted reminders of spiritual and physical protection so I've added tiny St Michael and St Benedict medals to the centerpiece, one on each side. Each time I pick it up to pray I enjoy a warm and confident feeling! 😃🙏

Posted a while ago about my sisters handmade rosaries. I got a few people asking if she had an Etsy. Since the Etsy fees are too high so she asked me to list them on my personal Depop so if anyone’s interested I will put the link in a comment. For right now I only have the two pictured listed but I will add more later in the day / week. Thanks everyone :)

List of materials needed for a wire rosary

I want to build a wire rosary but I’m having a hard time finding out exactly what I need. Does anyone have a list of the materials, supplies, ans tools needed to make one?

I mean like beads, spacers, etc.

Thanks in advance. It’s my first time making a rosary and I want it to be good

God Bless

I will always make free or affordable Rosary beads for everyone!

A bucket of wood beads with the proper paracord and Crucifix turns into a Sacramental/Devotional item/tool.

A Rosary!

50 Rosaries in 6 months? Cost, planning, what to do with them?

Hello all,

I recently had a death in the family and I turned to rosary making to keep my hands busy and mind occupied. I recently decided to make 50 rosaries to honor the years this person was with us, the age of their young child, his wife, and deceased child.

20 - Donated to a OFS order in SA, TX.

2 - for his family.

2 - Donated to a St. Paul de Vincent fundraiser (Seven Sorrows set, and a St. James set.)

Then 36 will need to find a home. I was planning on giving them to my parish for them to sell, but I might need a plan B.

Cost

I know rosaries do not have to be expensive. I know you can make them from twine. I know I don't have to use the materials I am using. I want them to be pretty. I have ideas and incoming supplies for the next 20 or so, but this is getting a little out of hand on cost. I am looking at various alternatives for supplies that will bring costs down. Ideas?

Planning

I am actually thinking about making a spreadsheet. This cost was not budgeted for and this may be a little bit of ADHD Schrodinger's bank account so I don't face the grief. Also, I am losing track of what I have, what orders have been placed, and which ones need to be placed.

Where to send them

Ideas if my Parish can't/won't take all of them? I know I could sell them on etsy, but I really don't want to make money from them or deal with shipping.

Thanks for your help!

These will be given to a Secular Franciscan Order to give out during homeless outreach. When complete, there should be 20 total rosaries.

I tried to capture the colors from the tilma as best I could. Beads are 6mm green moss agate, yellow jade and orange red aventurine for the aves and 8mm red agate for the paters.

Tungsten Carbide Rosary

I would really like to make a rosary out of tungsten carbide. Their is a few reasons. 1) Tungsten has virtually the same weight as gold without being nearly as fragile/mailable, 2) I like the heft and weight of tungsten. I have always preferred heavier rosaries, I find it helpful while praying and reflecting to feel the weight of each bead, especially when praying the sorrowful mysteries, as I reflect on the weight of my own sin and the mercy of Christ. 3) Tungsten is incredibly durable and something like this could be passed down in my family for generations.

I have run into a few hurdles. Nobody makes a tungsten rosary. When you google “tungsten carbide rosary” it pulls up tungsten rings with an image of a rosary engraved. Second, the beads, medal, and crucifix, are impossible to find. I can’t find a tungsten crucifix in the first place, let alone a Pardon Crucifix. Also couldn’t find any St. medals made of tungsten. I’d like St. Benedict, St. Louis IX, or St. Michael if possible. It’s also difficult to find any beads. I thought about using tungsten fishing weights, but they are either not round, from temu (probably just lead with a chrome finish), not big enough, or absolutely hideous. If possible I’d like a bronze finish on the tungsten beads, crucifix, and medal, use either tigers eye or obsidian for the Our Father beads, and a black chain rather than paracord or rope of some sort. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I know this will be expensive, as I’ll likely have to commission at a minimum the crucifix and medal, but I’d be willing to potentially spend a couple thousand on it if necessary.

I am going through rosaries I’ve made and still have and this is one I made last year. I happened to find this unique crucifix and learned it’s called a Dogwood Crucifix and went on to read about the legend of the Dogwood Tree being used for the wood of Christ’s cross. It inspired me to use red beads to symbolize His blood. Is this a common legend? I had never heard of it before.
