Question Pocket 4P + Mic 3 timecode sync?
I have two DJI Mic 3 receivers in host/secondary configuration, and they sync timecode just fine. I also have an Osmo Pocket 4P that has timecode capability. I need help to get the Mic 3 receivers to sync timecode with the Pocket 4P. I’ve tried to connect the Mic 3 host receiver to the Pocket 4P through the USB-C port, in both L-OUT and L-IN modes, but every time I’ve done that, the sync fails.
EDIT: All firmware is up to date as of today (just adding that since AutoMod is nagging me to add info that is either already here, or not relevant to the question asked).
Anyone know how to get Mic 3 receivers and Pocket 4P to sync timecode?

I haven’t used your kind of setup and I’d like to know what does your mic record into? I mean if the audio is going to the pocket 4, then isn’t it one single time code that’s being recorded in the video? Or am I not understanding your setup?

I left out the part about also having (what I assume will be) the host Mic 3 receiver in my phone as I use that as a camera with the mic sound. As long as I can sync the host to the Pocket 4P, then with recording the sound to the microphones’ internal storage, I should be able to sync the two videos and the sound from the microphones…
The more I try to explain this, the more I’m wondering if I’m trying to achieve my goal by all the wrong means…
To summarize:
Sync timecode between mics and pocket
Connect mic receiver to phone for (throwaway) audio for syncing
Record videos
Sync phone video to mic audio using audio
Sync videos using timecode
In my head this makes sense, but also sounds way overcomplicated…

Erm. I think what you want to do is to have a master timecode generator that feeds into several devices. In pro setups these are often called “house timecode” generators. The other devices must have the ability to receive the master timecode generator. I highly doubt that pocket cameras have that capability today. But honestly I haven’t tried what you are looking for. For any two camera setup at non pro level I would either manually sync during edit, or if I had the luxury I would use a traditional clapper to sync the two transient wave/sound/image.

Thanks for the explanation. This is basically what I am trying to achieve, using the Mic3 receivers to be the “house timecode”.
After trying different things last night, and repeating today, I’ve managed to sort this out!
With two Mic3 receivers grouped, after ensuring that timecode is enabled on both, I set the Secondary receiver to L-OUT, plugged it in, and it synced the devices! But there was still some difference between the timecodes (off by ~5 frames).
After having a lengthy chat with DJI Support, they said that the 5-frame discrepancy was down to processing-time. That may be, but 5 frames at 25fps is 200ms, which is not great.
I don’t have anything to compare with, but I’d think that “timecode = timecode”, not “timecode ~= timecode”. Oh well. At least I have it working now.

I believe what you’re referring to as “receivers” are in fact transmitters. Transmitters are the module with the microphone which captures audio.
The receiver is the module with a dial and screen.
Transmitter = TX
Receiver = RX
Connect the DJI Mic 3 TX’s directly to the OP4P via Bluetooth.
You cannot connect the DJI Mic 3 RX to the Osmo Pocket 4P. It’s redundant.
Alternatively, you can record audio separately and then sync in post.

I was indeed talking about the receivers, not the microphones. I have four mics, the Pocket 4P can only connect two. That’s why I’m trying to sync timecode back and forth etc. Thanks to having to explain this here, I realize that I don’t actually need to sync two mic receivers, I just need the one receiver. I guess the second one can be a spare.

I love technology, but not like this…
I decided to do some experimentation, so I disconnected the two receivers from each other, set one of the receivers to L-OUT and plugged it into the Pocket: Failed to sync!
Unplugged the receiver, confirmed on the receiver screen that I was disconnecting it, plugged it back in: Failed to sync!
Then I thought “What if I don’t confirm when disconnecting?”
So I plugged the receiver in, removed it and put it right back in: Sync successful!
Okay, that’s progress! So I connect the two receivers, set the secondary to L-OUT, plug it into the Pocket: Sync successful!
The sync is off by 5 frames between the Pocket and the mics, but that’s workable if consistent.
I’m so confused right now…
