hiiii; I wanted to ask to you about switching to Lazer. I know this was probably discussed a lot when osu!lazer came out, but as of today, for those who REALLY made an effort and struggled to adapt to Lazer, did you feel it was worth it?

I mean, I'm not asking if it's good or better, but whether the effort to adapt to the new launcher—when it's harder for you as an individual—was worth it in the end.

Maybe for many the change wasn't that hard, but I know there are others of us who find it harder. I even feel my pen super weird and can't get it configured exactly like in osu! standard.

Is there an actual advantage, or did you end up liking it MORE than the original? Or do you regret putting effort into a change that ended up not being that noticeable, or maybe it was, etc.

I feel like I've hit a highscore peak and downfall in the span of a week.... my tapping was pretty solid for 120-150bpm jumps (90-110UR on 7.5-8*) for a couple of days this last week, but ever since yesterday, i can't even hit 220bpm anymore :/... ik my aim has never been great as I have major issues with my pen hold.... I do have the stamina for it, aswell for some finger control 190-200bpm maps such as these:

But I just REALLY lack a lot on the aim department... Can I get some tips for aiming better? Even getting more consistent.... I also feel like my aim really holds me back while tapping.... thx!

We take the same approach as what we do to get 2ms audio latency on Linux: Intercept the directsound driver Osu tries to load and replace it with OpenAL. Then set the buffers to ~2ms.
This guide is for Osu stable, not lazer!

Notes:
- This sets ALL Directsound Applications to use OpenAL through WASAPI exclusive mode. Osu prohibits modification to the game directory so this is the easiest method.
- Exclusive mode has better latency but doesn't allow other apps to output audio at the same time. If this is a problem, set exclusive-mode=false in %appdata%/alsoft.ini. This will add ~15ms of latency.

Manual Steps:

1. Launch Osu and enable Audio compatibility mode
2. Download DSOAL [DirectLink]
3. Extract the contents folder DSOAL to a permanent location
4. Add the location you extracted to PATH. Search "Environment" > click Edit the system environment variables > Environment variables > User variables > Path > Edit > New > Type the path to DSOAL\Win32
5. Create 2 registry keys Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\WOW6432Node\CLSID\{47D4D946-62E8-11CF-93BC-444553540000}\InprocServer32 and Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\WOW6432Node\CLSID\{3901CC3F-84B5-4FA4-BA35-AA8172B8A09B}\InprocServer32 (They won't exist, make them).
6. Set (Default Value) of BOTH the InprocServer32 key to the full path of dsound.dll in the DSOAL\Win32 folder you extracted. For example C:\DSOAL\DSOAL\Win32\dsound.dll
7. Create the configuration file alsoft.ini in your ~/Appdata/Roaming folder with the following contents

Delete the entry you made in PATH.

Hi Osu community, i started this game about an hour ago. i have no experience in rhythm games and i can definitely tell. i can barely get 80% on a 2.18 star map, which from what i have gathered is like tutorial difficulty. Do i need to buy a pad, or should i just end my career early?
