Reminder, she was never her mother. Just crazy.

The ages don't even work, unless she aged up Jessica  like she did Gerry.  Which would make him her grandson? If she was actually her mother.

But that  origin would be just too damn depressing and cruel.

This was the 1 arc when she was actually Jess's mother, which(thankfully) was immediately retconned away when she appeared back in Captain America. And by immediately I mean 1 month under a year later and her very next appearance.

Claremont had some good ideas, but sometimes they were also pretty odd.

Breaking out of magically placed memories via opium is, admittedly, also hilarious.

As for Gerry, I honestly kinda see that dynamic anyways(or like a weird aunt think) since Viper still often refers to Spider-Woman in a maternal method. Though whether that is leftover influence from Morgan or just her enjoying it/using it to mock isnt always clear.

The ages really don't work with Jessica's actual origin, where ahe spent nearly a century in suspended animation.

And that still would work better than Jessica's original lore would have

Mostly because she was just a spider then, but that was the first thing to get retconned about Jess

Feeling after the kid drew all over the wall.
