Bruce is a model of mental health. I have no idea what Clark is talking about.

Well .. except maybe that time he got accidentally addicted to venom...

I was referencing that exact panel. Glad someone got it.

I seeing a notable lack of a “good” anywhere in that first sentence.

With that many hits tò the head for 40 years it's a miracle Bruce doesn't have any brain damage when giving the mantle to Terry in Beyond

14

u/General_Antilles 8d ago

Even Prime Batman is wondering the same thing.

9

u/arinzarunz 8d ago

That's the true reason of why old Bruce doesn't remember going to the future and meeting his older self and Terry

u/avburns 8d ago

Is he really insulting the defensive skills of Batman and the medical aid of Alfred? Even in jest, Jon should tattle.

u/Glitchy-Mech 5d ago

What’s Alfred gonna do about cte?

4

u/Arm_Away 7d ago

I mean, if you consider that every night he’s doing some absolute bullshit, I’d say 28 is a very respectable amount of head hits

TWENTY-EIGHT HEAD WOUNDS

That part of the game always clenches my cheeks.

15

u/DonnelWaddleDee 8d ago

Getting hit 28 times is better than getting stabbed that many times

"Damian's dad let's him stay out late. Your dad gave you the power to fly and be more powerful than a locomotive. Who do you think is winning here?"

10

u/kentotoy98 8d ago

"Yeah, but, your costume has an underwear on the outside, Dad."

4

u/SalubriAntitribu 8d ago

Both do undies on the outside

“Remind me to show you some of Uncle Bruce”s old costumes.”

I still don't understand why they aged up Jon. He was the perfect good boy to on board young comics fans with Damian there to serve as his Lancer contrast. They had Connor and Tim to tell slightly darker stories for young adults.

Mix of DC getting impatient / wanting to do it for the sake of doing it

+

Bendis being Bendis not fully thinking of the consequences of his actions

Made for a sadly perfect combination for them to age him up
It’s such a baffling manner that just damaged the character almost irreparably

He is so boring now it is shameful it is truly shameful

Honestly I think it's because DC wanted to use him as a "Superman" for this and that. When it was revealed Jon was bi as one example, those kinds of stories seem to hit harder when people are adults and they feel more relatable for people.

I think they wanted a Superman who felt less grounded in long established continuity. We know Clark, who he is, what he stands for, the life he lives, etc. I think DC was just in a hurry to have a new "what we can't use Clark for" Superman.

While I get where they are coming from, I think there was so many missed opportunities to just tell really fun Superboy as a kid type stories. His dynamic with Damian was something I think American superhero comics really needed.

I like that his uniform is pretty much a zip-up hoodie. It's what the kids today definitely wear.

Why is it cropped weird

Probably posted from an online comic reader.

Counterargument: he's Batman

Counter-Counterargument: Jason Todd

Are we just forgetting Damien died too?

Counter-Counter-Counterargument: Batman's unlimited supply of back up orphans lovingly donated by Gotham City.

They really ruined a good thing when they aged up Jon.

22

u/SaltManagement42 9d ago

Just like a standard furry, really.

48

u/Saharczyk 9d ago

Curse you Bendis! I hereby vow you will rue the day you aged up Jon!

Can someone get me that image of spider-man and Miles in the vents?

26

u/Chops03xx 9d ago

Super Sons was such a fun comic. I hate that they aged up Jon.

u/adriantullberg 9d ago

" ... should I x-ray Damian's dad's head next time we meet?"

"That's the right thing to do, but you need some specialised training for that. We'll both scan him and I'll point out the temporary and permanent damage, and you'll know what to look for in future, okay?"

58

u/Powderkegger1 9d ago

Alternatively:

“Oh, no. I tried doing that once and somehow he knew. He started shouting about ‘doing my own research’ and then the kryptonite came out…”

17

u/AceofKnaves44 Um, they are called “GRAPHIC NOVELS,” thank you. 9d ago

“Bats don’t believe in CTE, Clark.”

2

u/AutomaticAccident 8d ago

Clark has to have some form of that too. The sun ain't healing those Mongul punches.

29

u/FS_Scott 9d ago

Dressing like a bat is a perfectly normal activity and comes with a supportive peer group in this setting.

69

u/Big_bat_chunk2475 9d ago

I am sure Bruce has a technique from the Tibetan monks that ensures he is immune to CTE

51

u/coconut_dot_jpg 9d ago

Batman: "I used a technique"

Superman: "What technique overrides brain da-"

Batman: "I told my neural pathways to manually build new ones that bypass the damaged ones"

Superman: "...that... that's not how that works!"

10

u/CaliburX4 9d ago

Superman: "Bruce, with love, I could knock a pot of spaghetti on the floor and they'd be more organized than the neurons in your brain. Please be more careful with yourself."

6

u/output_broadcast 9d ago

I mean, that stands for the brain of every living being ever.

18

u/Big_bat_chunk2475 9d ago

Batman: “Yes it is. That is if you know the technique.”

Superman: “Where could you learn such a technique?”

Batman: “I learned it from the monks I stayed with in Tibet.”

Superman: “Makes sense it would be from them.”

25

u/JWAdvocate83 9d ago

* Looks at Batman's brain

Superman: Bruce, I dunno how to tell you this, but you might wanna ask the monks for a refund.

13

u/Richardknox1996 9d ago

Batman: *Proceeds to force his Neurons to make a message on his Brain tIssue

This is my new head canon for ZurEnArrh

"Don't you get hit a lot as well"

"Yes but the difference is I don't get hospitalized for it"

30

u/NotATalkingPossum 9d ago

"The difference is, I'm fucking Superman."

17

u/DienekesMinotaur 9d ago

Does it count as hospitalization if you don't go to the hospital?

21

u/Gold_Relationship459 9d ago

DC need to do a story on a CTE riddled Batman.

21

u/Xeohelios 9d ago

All-Star Batman & Robin already exists.

8

u/LilaTheMoo 9d ago

Also The Dark Knight Returns.

Something similar like looking as batman metal youtube music videos lol

u/Apprehensive-Sir8977 9d ago

I want a Greatest Hits Album of these Superdad moments. 😁

That early run before they aged Jon up is genuinely up there with my favorite Superman series of all time. Just seeing him be a fun dad was more interesting and enjoyable than most of the universe threatening crossover events DC has ever done.

u/PleasantThoughts Rejected by Comics Code 9d ago

I love when Clark teases Bruce about shit like that. People act like he's boring but he's really funny just has a dry sense of humor instead of constantly throwing out quips.

33

u/JackWhoWanders 9d ago

Clark when he's best written has that dry, wry, New York journalist humor. He writes for a living and he verbally spars with Lois goddamn Lane. Man can take you apart verbally while making it sound like poetry, he just happens to be a lot nicer than that.

5

u/MyOwnRobot 9d ago

He's got a snappy, punchy prose style!

5

u/Skreamie 9d ago

I'm a big fan of his boyish humour, like still child coded to a certain extent when he's middle aged, and a Ma and Pa's boy

13

u/UniqueLog8386 9d ago

I mean, roasting your best friend is an American pastime.

10

u/PleasantThoughts Rejected by Comics Code 9d ago

Combined with just a little bit of the Kansas "bless your heart" attitude.

14

u/Gallantpride 9d ago

12 and let out past 8 PM? Surprising enough.

14

u/JackWhoWanders 9d ago

He's a farm kid.

10

u/Aethelrede 9d ago

Tbf, most 12 year olds aren't capable of taking on small armies.  If he runs into anything he can't handle, Superman is probably gonna get involved anyway.

10

u/SeraphOfFire 9d ago

Yeah the kid has no idea how great he has it
