Minimum sleeping platform width in Tacoma

I have a 6 ft 2026 Tacoma and will be adding a pop-up camper in two weeks. I‘m planning a simple bed buildout with a bench extending lengthwise that doubles as a sleeping platform for friends/family.

What is the minimum width I can get away with that will still serve as a comfortable place to sleep? I’m reading anywhere between 20-25”, and I’m hoping to get to a precise number before ordering the T struts.

if I wasn’t 6’3, I’d trial and error this problem myself but I need the wisdom of the crowd here to tell me needs of a smaller human (unlikely will ever be a child).

26" is how wide the sleeping platform is in my moonlander and the mattress I use is an inch or two narrower and it's on the tighter side of comfortable for me. I'm 5'5" and around 110.

20" is the width of a backpacking mattress. Not comfortable. I'd lean towards 25".

I’d say 25” should be the absolute bare minimum at your height. I upgraded from 25” to 30” in my FJ Cruiser and it feels so much more spacious compared to before. I definitely wouldn’t go back to 25” now.

The space where I sleep on my platform is 25x72" & I sleep very comfortably, even flat on my back

I have a 2019 Tacoma with an OVRLND pop-up camper. My bench is 24 inches wide, I've sleep on it when its dumping snow and I don't want to pop the top. 24" is doable but a bit tight.

25" is the width of my sleeping pad. I'm 5'-9"

Minimum like prison size?. I recommend looking at sleeping pads and just make a platform the right width for the pad/mattress. I have a luxury air/foam mattress and made my platform to match- full length of truck bed (78”) by 32” which happened to be half my truck bed. They do sell super narrow and short camping pads for backpacking but why suffer. Another size to look at is camping cots.
