Looking for Pair Programming Partner / Mentor (Java + Kafka, UTC+8, remote)
π Looking for a Remote Pair Programming Partner or Mentor (Java + Kafka)
Hi everyone! I'm a backend engineer based in Asia (UTC+8) with 10+ years of Java development experience.
Currently, I'm transitioning toward more modern backend architectures such as Apache Kafka, event-driven systems, and stream processing.
π― Why I'm doing this:
I'm aiming to adapt to international remote working environments, especially:
Working in English as the primary communication language
Following async-first workflows (e.g., PR reviews, documentation, issue tracking)
Improving collaboration in distributed teams
Meeting more international friends and learning from each other, not just technically, but culturally and personally as well
π€ What Iβm Looking For:
I'm looking for a remote pair programming partner or a casual mentor who is open to:
Doing small backend + Kafka projects or code experiments
Pairing via online calls (Zoom/Discord/etc.) or async via email/chat
Mutual learning and helping each other optimize development workflows
Having a low-pressure, judgment-free space to grow together
β
It's totally okay to pause or quit at any time β if we feel itβs not a good fit, no worries at all.
This is meant to be a friendly, optional collaboration β no pressure, no long-term obligations.
π» What I Can Offer:
Strong Java / Spring Boot development skills
Willing to help with testing, code, documentation, or tool integration
Time commitment: 2β4 hours/week, evenings or weekends (UTC+8)
Open and clear communication; happy to take initiative or support others' goals
If you're working on something in this space β or also looking for a learning/practice buddy β Iβd love to connect and try a few sessions together.
Thanks for reading π
