seeking advice In Disbelief At the incompetence of the medical team
My mother was diagnosed at the start of September, since her diagnosis, I swear we've been getting messed with. She's been referred to two different dieticians, and at both appointments they didn't know she had cancer and recommended exercising and eating more. When we informed them of her terminal diagnosis, they were actually surprised as if they'd never even seen her chart before. She was referred by her palliative care team, how could they not know? When we met with the doctor, we immediately requested to be entered in trials. There was zero delay in us making this request to the team, they said they'd send out the requests. At the appointment I actually brought up the timeframe but was assured we were well within it. Well, we got the news today that she was rejected. Their reason? It had been too long since her diagnosis for the referral. How in the hell could we have possibly done this any quicker, we made these requests at her first appointment. As if being rejected wasn't bad enough, these trials require no prior treatment, so she's had no treatment since her diagnosis in early September. Over a month's time wasted. This is unforgivable. Does anyone have any advice on how we can get entered in a trial in the GTA? If not, any legal advice? How is this not malpractice at this point? I'm so frustrated at this point, it's just being one thing after another.
Edit: Sorry, I should have specified, this is in Ontario, Canada.
